Parking at the Stadium

Featured Replies

Hi, going to all 3 games this weekend for the Yankees series. I was thinking of doing the Brightline train down there (I'm in Boynton Beach, I'd do the Boca station) but saw the price of the tickets made me do a double take on that. So looking at the tickets, seems like there was never a pre-paid sale for parking. So now my thinking is just leaving early enough to to get there hopefully an 1-1:30 before game time. I should be able to park in the First Base Garage right? I remember that's the best one to get out of there from going to games before please correct me if I'm wrong there now. Know what time the Stadium/Parking garage's open prior to games? I know Yankee series are always crazy parking wise, not looking forward to that. But hopefully leaving early enough I'll be good there. Any other tips I should do?

I think you'll be good making sure to get their early enough but any time after that and it's dicey. I can't stand that they don't do presale parking for these big series, shouldn't that be the number one time where reserving parking is needed? They'll probably jack up the prices as well which is ridiculous cuz the parking space is the same no matter who is playing.

Wait they don't do pre-paid parking anymore?

That's crazy.

Probably so they can do increased prices for it based on demand, dynamic pricing. Instead of finding ways to maybe get people to return for more games, they try to find ways to make them not want to return.

If I was in charge of marketing or whatever department is doing this, I'd have parking AND concessions as cheap as possible. Get people to want to come back instead of trying to squeeze every penny on their likely one-time visit.

Do they at least do the pay-by-phone option still?  They (smartly, IMO) started doing that last time I went, as opposed to having a massive line while they wait for everyone to pay the attendant at the front.  But for all I know, they've scrapped that.

Agreed - I remember reading articles about how they made concessions cheap at that new Atlanta stadium and concessions were way up.

I'd be more inclined to buy more if it were inexpensive, vs. eh.....do I get a soda OR ice cream?

At least they improved the food quality/variety with the renovation a few years ago, so even if you're paying ballpark pricing, it wasn't your standard ballpark food.

You can do prepaid parking. Don't remember how but I know it exists. I did it earlier in the year. It's the same price as the day of the game: $20

They have the park by phone option, at least in the garage I parked in most recently

Separate question:

What’s the best way to minimize walking for someone who is elderly or disabled? I’m thinking there’s probably somewhere to drop a person off — what do you suggest?

Pre paid parking is still a thing but it's unavailable for like 6 specific dates this year because they're like premium games or whatever, where ticket prices are higher and bigger crowds are expected. So yea technically those are the days where pre paid parking would actually be the most needed.

Apparently someone got numbers on the $5 burger promotion when Jake Burger debuted and they sold more burgers on that seemingly random Wednesday night then on the previous Saturday when it was Venezuelan Heritage night and the Miguel Cabrera celebration and they had that massive 30,000+ crowd, the biggest crowd in like 7 years.

So what's better, more expensive food that nobody wants to buy or cheaper food that everyone is manipulated into buying. I'm sure there's more that goes into it and people can accept a slight price increase at these ballparks but I think there's a huge difference between a $5 burger and a $15 burger price point.

I'm not saying they should sell dollar burgers and dollar beers but just make the price more reasonable and people will still buy and they'll still make money.

Every other time I go to a game with my family I make sure to stop by some fast food place and everybody eats something so that at least we're not spending a fortune on food at the ballpark and then that at least allows me some wiggle room to grab the kids and ice cream or something but the night of the $5 burgers I said alright we'll eat at the ballpark and sure I didn't spend a fortune but I still spent more money on concessions that night than any other night there in a long time. Not sure how this concept is seemingly foreign to mlb teams.

This is still a thing.

That's just it.  Because you probably want the fries and drink too.  So if you add that stuff, you're even higher.

Like you said, you're inclined to eat somewhere else beforehand, and they get absolutely nothing vs. lesser prices.

The Atlanta Falcons did that when the moved into the MB Dome/ Stadium. $1 Sodas, $2 pretzels, nothing more than $3 or $5 bucks. Last I heard that was the most profitable concessions income ever seen by them.

Did they keep it that way or have they raised prices back up?

Yeah, that's the one I'm thinking of.

I'd definitely purchase more with those prices.

Instead we got that 305 menu with like 3 things on it.

And they're usually smaller than normal, right?

Yeah 305 menu is smaller sizes. Decent for something like a hot dog and if you've got like multiple kids and you get them a couple things it helps but overall you're paying less to get less. I guess it's a nice option to have but it's not such a big deal.

I love pretzels at a ballgame and even the 305 menu pretzels are smaller to the point where I might actually want two and then I'm actually spending the same as I would on a regular sized one so that's another way how they get you.

I don't understand. The Yankees are pedestrian this year. This series isn't any different than the ones we've been having. God I hate Yankees fans

Yes great point lol this is the silliness they come up with at the start of the year based on the opponents. I guess it's more to do with expecting bigger crowds no matter what but it's hilarious that the Marlins are actually gonna start this series with a better record than the Yankees.

Think I'm all set with my plan. Planning on arriving 1:30 or so before game time, leaving my house an hour before that. I'll try to park in the West (hopefully 3) parking lot and just hang out then.

Any food I should check out? Been a few years since I've been there, so don't know if anything is new.

I hope to God we sweep them and make a statement. 7 games over .500 while sending the Yankees closer to a losing record would be a great "we're back" moment.
