And why do people refer to sauces by color as if its the actual name? I know several people who say they like spaghetti with "red sauce" and I'm like why can't you just say tomato sauce or marinara. I've also heard white sauce and now you're saying brown sauce. It sounds like when you're a little kid and you don't know which sauce is which so you identify it by color. Grow up.

He asked, and I had no idea what they were either, I just know the one I get has a more white-ish sauce lol.

September 6, 20233 yr Author Maybe this helps. The white sauce is what you'd commonly find with chicken chow mein while the brown sauce is what you'd get with beef with broccoli.

Edit: Sherry (the cooking wine not my ex) is also typically mixed in with the oyster sauce. There's a little bit of sugar, some soy sauce, and sesame oil too.
