FYI I'm more annoyed by all this because the Marlins magic number is 3. If it was at 2 I'd feel more confident that a disaster wasn't going to happen. I don't know why, but that magic number being at 3 just seems a little trickier.

It's not "no big deal" like many are saying.

The Marlins have already "scored more runs than the Mets" in the Thursday game. Getting that win sealed would have changed so much. 

And its made even worse by the incompetence and unprofessionalism of the Mets and their stupid grounds crew.

 

I'm not defending it nor trying to make it not a big deal.  I'm just saying if we can play well, we can potentially make that game not matter.  I think it's absurd how the whole series was handled - especially after the game 1 fiasco, they should've made every effort to avoid weather issues, such as moving game 3 game time up, as suggested above.

And this says nothing about what would happen if the suspended game couldn't be completed because the season ended. Is it thrown out? Is it made official at the point of termination? Is it made official at the last completed inning?

And no matter how shitty a team is (which the Pirates aren't total trash) it's very hard to sweep a team on the road.

They arent going to continue the game if its not needed.  They also arent going to just give the Marlins the win in this game.  If the game is needed, it will be resumed.  If the game isnt needed it will be 1-0 mets final after 8.

Exactly. It's an arbitrary and somewhat biased point to consider things official.  I can't believe this was ever a real rule. 

If the whole game was washed away, why would we not include the entirety of what was played to the point of termination?

MLB rules make no sense. This one and then the whole only some plays are reviewable crap.

This circumstance might make them reconsider this one down the line cuz this one seems rather obviously dumb. Imagine if in that top of the 9th the Marlins scored like 9 or 10 and then it was said to not count.
