Yankees offered Soriano for Pujols

Featured Replies

Pujols article

The New York Yankees recently offered a package including second baseman Alfonso Soriano for Pujols, according to a source, but were turned away. Soriano batted .298 with 38 home runs and 91 RBIs last season before avoiding arbitration with the club.

Soriano only bat .290, but nonetheless the Cardinals would have to be crazy to trade Pujols and the Yankees would have to be crazy to annoy Soriano by trying to trade him. Soriano might become the best offensive second baseman in history. Pujols might become the greatest HITTER in history. This seems like this would almost be bad for both teams. Anyhow, I'm glad the trade didn't happen because Soriano is a homegrown Yankee and he's good enough for me.

This is kind of like the Dimaggio Williams deal. The Yankees were trying to unload a worse player for a far superior one...both times the other team made the right decision.

Just keeping you guys in the loop.

that would be a huge steal for the Yanks. They trade one of the most overated players in baseball for the best not named bonds

too bad.

Soriano isn't overrated anymore (like he was in 2002.) People are starting to claim on yankees boards that they would rather have Troy glaus...and that is absurd.

he still is. He causes his team to lose with his glove more than he helps them with his bat

Umm only reason Pujols is not better then Bonds yet is because of the diff of years, but after 3 season Pujols is alot better then Bonds... And when Pujols reaches his 11-12 season in MLB and starts shooting up (roids) he will be a true Monster! Pujols will be the greatest player in MLB when he retires. He can hit to every part of the ballpark (Something Bonds cant do). Pujols can play 1B, 3B, LF (Something Bonds cant do) After 3 season Pujols has more HR then Bonds did after 3 seasons. So clearly Pujols is going to be better then BOnds after he retires.

One of the things that makes Bonds so great is the fact that he hasn't slowed down. Pujols has had the greatest three years of anyone his age or that stage in his career, but Bonds has had the greatest three- four years of anyone his age or that stage in his career.

Right now, Pujols is #2, and when Bonds is no longer #1, Pujols will most likely take over. But it's unlikely Pujols will do what Bonds is doing in that stage of his career.

To say Albert Pujols is clearly going to have a better career than Barry Bonds after 3 seasons is downright absurd.

he still is. He causes his team to lose with his glove more than he helps them with his bat How many games did he lose with his errors? Not all that many (though he blew in the postseason.) I have watched him play, he covers A LOT of area. I don't care what statistics say until they invent a totally flawless defensive statistic. I know he's not the greatest, but he is definitely underrated defensively.

His obp pisses me off.

To say Albert Pujols is clearly going to have a better career than Barry Bonds after 3 seasons is downright absurd. SEE: Junior Griffey

Albert "The Man" Pujols will not get injuryed to make his career short :thumbup

hasnt he already suffered an arm injury?

i mean nothing major, but who knows

Soriano might become the best offensive second baseman in history.

Soriano plays second base?

Funny, from the looks of it I though he just stood ont he field.

Pujols may wind up being the best ever, but i don't judge players by what they could do, because if you did that, there would be many players who had great starts and then faded out.

Matt Nokes and Kevin Maas come to mind

But nobody has ever had the kind of start that Pujols had and faded out.
