February 12, 200422 yr Who will be the biggest surprise in terms of clutch plays, stats, etc. And why?
February 12, 200422 yr Author I am also thinking Pavano will surprise and will put up some damn good numbers. He was not talked about much since World Series, but he pitched just as good as Beckett IMO.
February 12, 200422 yr i think cabs will have the biggest improvement in stats, although i don't really think it'll be much of a surprise since we're all expecting him to kick ass next year.
February 12, 200422 yr Kevin Hooper. "Mr. Hustle." Off-the-bench injury replacement for short or second. Could be second-coming of Craig Counsel. Anxious to see him in ST.
February 12, 200422 yr Break out year for Carl Pavano. This will be the year the Bosox expected when they drafted him! :thumbup
February 12, 200422 yr IMO Pavano wont really be a surprise, because he should be expected to have a pretty damn good year. He showed signs of brilliance years ago with the expos before getting injured, and again this year, especially in the playoffs. I think the biggest surprise will be dontrelle, because everyone expects him to falter this year, making claims that people figured out his delivery. The thing is the reason he struggled late was not because they figured out his deliver, it was because he had problems with his control, and what made him dominant early was good control more than anything else. If he works on getting back his control during the offseason he will have a dominant year.
February 12, 200422 yr I'll guess Castro. We know he can hit home runs, but to see him hit over 20 will be a nice surprise.
February 12, 200422 yr Benitez will show he can close games at the Major League level. I wouldn't be surprised if he got 40+ saves.

February 12, 200422 yr Penny The forgotten pitcher will lead this team to the promised land. And then ride off into the sunset (dugout tunnel, whatever)
February 12, 200422 yr I'm going to go with Alex Gonzalez. I think he's going to hit around .290 with 17-20 HR's. Pavano, Penny, Beckett, unless they win over 20 games it won't be that big of a surprise because we're expecting big things from them. Benitez is a close second who I think will close out 35-40 games this year and only blow 2-3 saves. I'm going with AGon, simply because I think he finally got his stroke together in the Series, and that's going to boost his confidence big time, plus he's a gold glove calibre defensive player so he'll play everyday even if he starts to struggle, so that helps players too...
February 12, 200422 yr Look at the sig I promise you, he will not disappoint Yes. IMO, if he plays 125 games, he has 25 home runs. It's a bold prediction, but realistic as well. Pavano and Penny are going to have awesome seasons.

I agree that Alex could have a break out year at the plate....but McKeon needs to move him up in the order for that to occur....would like to see him in the 6th spot. We know Alex will have an excellent year defensively...so not looking for anything different there.
February 12, 200422 yr Hmmm...breakout season.....I'll go with Abraham Nunez. He'll become our no. 1 pinch-hitter, and McKeon won't be afraid to rest the other OF's when they need a day off.
February 12, 200422 yr im really going to have to say choi see going to be a shocker 110 rbi's 25 hr my per.
February 12, 200422 yr im really going to have to say choi see going to be a shocker 110 rbi's 25 hr my per. It's hard to put up those kind of numbers when you're part of a platoon...
February 12, 200422 yr In my opinion i think Pavz will lead in wins. This guy is very solid, i also think Penny will do very good. In offense I think Alex Gonzalez will be consistant in hitting the whole year.
