New Stadium Pics
I like how Billy has to wear the safety vest - like the giant marlins costume with brightly colored head and pants doesn't stand out on it's own Oddly enough, I think the vest actually blends perfectly well with the rest of his outfit..................

New Stadium Pics
We have a couple retractables out here in Phoenix The cardinals stadium is pretty much always sealed up, although the nature of the roof does let in some light ........ it's kind of frustrating how much they keep that thing closed though ...... even when the weather falls within their parameters, i guess given the start time and sun angle it's still tough for those on the eastern side of the stadium The d'backs have the roof open frequently through april, may & october ...... I wonder if the marlins will ever do what the d'backs do on occasion (roof closed, panels open) I've only been in the stadium once when they had to close it up as a storm rolled through and the process was really quick because of start times you could go to a cardinals game in late september and have the roof closed and the next day sit with the roof open for the d'backs however, unlike the d'back, the marlins did a real nice job at the visual aspects of their roof .... at times chase field can feel a bit like an airplane hangar ....... i don't think that would be an issue with miami

Craig Minervini Sighting
I refused an interview with Him one time when he saw my tat and He acted like He couldn't believe I would turn Him down. He just sat down next to me and told me he was going to interview me like it was some kind of life changing experience for me to talk with Him. He stomped off when I told him to send Frank over if they wanted to talk to me. Not that I'm important or anything, just that I can't stand the guy. It's pretty obvious at least one person was acting like a jerk in that scenario.................. Gimme a break, the guy went to SU. Ice fishing is a normal way of life in that part of the country. No it isn't

Stadium Name To Be Revealed Whenever They Feel Like It
Not the end of the world if it doesn't happen before opening day ...... these contracts are lengthy and it's most important to get the best long term deal and sponsors are probably a little hesitant to put up bit money to attach their name when the last home seemed to flop names every other year, attendance has been historically poor and there is still questions about the direction/national attention of the franchise I'm a seahawks fan and it didn't hurt them at all to open the stadium as "Seahawks Stadium" and then cash in down the line

Team Colors and New Logo
So im at a show in Tennessee and look across the room and some guy is wearing the new marlins hat. Cool. Miami. Interstate. I saw my first one on Sunday out here ....... daughter had to "go potty" so we stop at some random diary queen in east phoenix, i'm sitting in the car with our sleeping 8 month old and notice some teenager come out with his family sporting the new cap ....... I of course had on my old logo hat, but wasn't in position to be the weird guy yelling at random strangers

Kobe's wife files for divorce
8 years too late. Actually, it sounds like she timed it about perfectly ....... she hit the 10 year mark and in CA that is considered a "lenghty marriage" at which point she will be entitled to alimony for as long as she needs it and as long as he can pay it With two kids in play (hate to say it like that, but age, children in custody, accustomed lifestyle) all factor into how much spousal support they can get ........ he's going to be cutting checks for a long, long time (she has oodles of leverage here)

2011-12 NFL Thread
yeah - that was one of those freak brutal plays .... hope he's OK - was nice that he was moving his hands going off the field

Marlins Stadium Contractors Cut Corners
yep - the main issue was the fired inspector who didn't do his job to ensure that things are done to spec ...... it also sounds like the marlins did re-inspect a sampling of work, just not the entire batch ..... now they'll do the entire batch .... again, nothing unusual here also - on a side note, I love "news" these days ..... because I clicked on a link about a stadium/contractors from my work computer (where I also deal with the construction industry) it comes up with the following suggestions You May Also Like... This Board is Changing - Can We Get Clarification on the Rules?
Admin, I've gotta be like the ... 2nd longest running active board member, right? Or maybe 3rd? Good question. Looking it up, I got through about 25 pages and saw a few still active with more time on here than I, but I've still gotta be in the top 15-20 area for longevity. Some of us have undergone name changes though ... my last name, MinneMarlin, is on there going back to 9/2002 ........ before that I was PhillyPhin (i think) - but that was before the newer format in 2002 (i moved out of philly 6/2002 and moved to mpls 8/2002) I think if you added it all up though, i'd be near the bottom at posts per year if you ran a decade long list......... Here is my long and sorted story as told to a texan in 2004 Was a few years ago ... I started posting on the marlins official site ... someone sent me an e-mail informing me about this site that didn't have the intense flaming of the official site (i think it could of been brknarrow or someone like that) anyhow, I joined under the name PhillyPhin and posted for about a year under that name Then i moved to minnesota and became the MinneMarlin .. that was for most of last season Now living in the desert I'm the PhxPhin http://forums.marlinsbaseball.com/topic/4419-the-pressing-question/page__st__100

Is Loria forgiven?
if he signs fielder and cj wilson i will forgive him and look forward What will you forgive him for? being frugal, I will forgive him the following year after we win the world series and the team is still intact... what if he went really crazy and even tried to add some big name pieces to put together a sustained run, even though he was operating under limited revenue streams and no fan support?!

Pujols to Angels
I was at Shea Stadium in 2005 for a Marlins game, and when Delgado came up to bat the guy in front of me literally stopped making out with his girlfriend abruptly to stand up and boo the hell out of Delgado. It's a sign of a fanbase that gives a sh*t. I hope we do it to Pujols. I don't care if it's justified or not. Anger is always better than apathy in sports. Who makes out with their girlfriend at a baseball game? Douchebags that's who. Oh, and 13 year olds. Noone wants to see that crap. yeah - you obviously don't give to much of a sh*t about the game if you are making out with your girlfriend ....... i also doubt the validity of this claim, as we are talking about mets fans ...... the virgin, D&D playing step-brothers to the yankee fans

Pujols to Angels
yeah - I heard cowherd trashing the marlins this morning on my drive in ... basically saying that they aren't serious about baseball, they'll just firesale him away anyhow looks like the PC is for reyes being bumped up - but at the same time you can't have a PC in the middle of a negotiation like this without having some kind of resolution .... i think the end game is near one way or another

Pujols to Angels
At this point I'd be surprised if it's anything other than them stepping away and also setting a "firm" deadline to the pujols camp of when they will officially move on 11:15 CST, is 12:15 EST (for those in NC) and 10:15 MST for us desert dwellers ..... 30-40 minutes from now a move that needs to be done - either sign the deal or say you gave it your all and move onto the next stage of the offseason they mentioned a while ago it could go different paths based on different leading outcomes ...... looks like we'll see the plan for when they sign a closer, reyes and miss on pujols

what are all you east coasters doing up? sleep time here in AZ ......... i think my wife is running out of patience (i tried to convince her I can check this site on my phone and still listen to her when we were out without kids tonight...............) I don't remember the last time I fell asleep before 2am. drinking and waiting. heh - i don't remember the last time I slept past 7 (on a good day) ....... love my kids ........ definitely kills a bit of my inner night owl though - which is why i'm still here and my wife just yelled the time across the house..........

Pujols to Angels
I'm still trying to figure out how the Delgado thread got to over 200 pages. you need a good lead up ........ if they actually sign pujols say tommorrow afternoon think of all else that will come in another 40 pages of tweets, rumors and anxiety then talk about the other pitchers that could be had then the signing then the implications this thing is at 99.9 and really not much has happened except the marlins affirming that they are very serious

definitely how the marlins should play it - press for an answer and let them know that as much as you'd love to make the deal if they aren't willing to sign they will have to pursue other interests and there is no guarantee that those terms would ever be back on the table the cardinals have every right to counter and have earned the position at the table for last look - this is their look

. . . Soooo . . . Hanley and 3B?
I honestly wouldn't mind trading Hanley. It makes that payroll bearable down the road when people like LoMo and Stanton begin to hit arbitration. Either way this works out is fine by me. What's going to make payroll bearable is not offering no trade clauses and then unloading the recent signings (or Hanley) once this team put together for the launch of the new stadium has run it's course. Teams don't make money from short term moves like the one you are implying they are going to try to pull. This team has been making money hand over fist the last 3 years. You only deviate from that course of conduct if you have a legit long term plan for making money, big time money. I have no doubt in my mind that the FO thinks they can make Red Sox/Yankees coin through Latin America. Whether that is true or not remains to be seen. MIAMI -- The cost-cutting Florida Marlins finalized their big trade with the Mets on Thursday, sending slugger Carlos Delgado to New York for first baseman Mike Jacobs and two minor leaguers. Huh, funnily enough, they do. I don't get it. Are you saying the Marlins made money from this move? If I'm not mistaken the Marlins attendance didn't improve after that signing. The Marlins made more money from revenue sharing than they ever made from signing Carlos Delgado. I think the point is pretty obvious - since the marlins made a big signing for a 1B at a time when they had dubious fan support and revenue streams and merely dreams of having a stadium built only to trade them a little while later when they will had dubious fan support, revenue streams and even more remote dreams of having a stadium built then it only stands to reason that they will sign a big name 1B now that they have a stadium, improved revenue streams and undetermined fan support ........... this only would hold true though if fan support remained undetermined as you cannot change any aspect

Completely the same as the current situation

Pujols to Angels
Been a while without any Pujols' updates. I'm not sure if that's good or bad. There are a lot of strong statements floating out there about Pujols and his future .... so let me throw out a couple of my own I'm absolutely certain that come this March we'll be seeing Pujols making Jupiter his spring training home AND when they open the stadium in front of a national audience in the 1st domestic home game of the season Pujols will be swinging a bat, in uniform, in that building Oh man ... you are ... a f*cking swami. the limb I walk is more like a tree trunk, built into a bridge, hovering dangerously on a firm foundation over a 2" drop ...... but i'm going on the record anyway and i'm almost certain I'll be absolutely right :exercise

. . . Soooo . . . Hanley and 3B?
yep Also if you look at where Hanley has taken his individual development the past few years he's been trying to add some bulk, hit with more power, make a run in the HR derby ...... despite the luster of playing SS and the significance of signing his rival of sorts at SS I think they'll convince him that it's for his best interest to switch add some bulk, your frame is better for 3B, people will focus more on what you bring as opposed to blowing up any individual miscue at SS, two speedy guys getting on base and putting you in a position for success with power behind you as well, with that power behind you there will be less times that you need to run on the base paths helping you prevent those type of injuries (which you have had) this has nothing to do about how well you defend or how well you play SS - you have the frame, athleticism & power to make a switch that most people cannot do remember that Ozzie convinced and led the charge to have a young prospect to make the switch from SS to 3B once before ... a minor league player who would eventually come up and play the OF before settling back into 3B later in his career ....... ask hanley how dangerous Miguel Cabrera would be if he had to maintain the frame and physical pounding of playing SS his whole career - would he be the MVP candidate like he's been the past few seasons? ......... tell him his power is too valuable to have at SS and they need him to bring his bat to 3B to go with the other power producing positions
