So I was out at Incredible Ice Sportsplex in Coral Ridge to watch my friend play in the North/South All-Star hockey game today. Everything is fine and dandy. Then after its over and we're about to leave, I notice a familiar figure behind a SUV. I ask "Is that Craig Minervini" in a normal voice to the only other person in my group of friends that watches baseball. Mr. Minervini must have overheard me (window was down) as he nods and smiles. Seemed really genuine too.

 

Long story short - I miss baseball.

He seems like a nice guy. I don't understand the dislike some people have for him.

Craig's a nice guy, at least he was when I met him for that interview he did with me on FSN back in 2004. He hung around before and after the interview and just chatted with me like a buddy, he didn't have to do that.

 

I don't understand the hate either.

Craig's nice enough. I've had several encounters with him throughout the years, mainly at Marlins games in Atlanta and Tampa Bay. He fits in fine with Rich and Tommy. BTW, Rich is an awesome guy. Met him once. He told me how he came up with the idea for E-mail Tuesdays.

Just general experiences on the road in different ballparks. You give him a simple hello, and he blows you off. Attitude. Like PurpleHaze said, Rich is awesome! Was at Wrigley once and he literally came up to us, sat in the seats next to us and just went back and forth about Marlins baseball for 20 mins. Also in Petco, rich and tommy gave my buddies and I a walk in the press box and even gave us a shoutout on the telecast.

And what I've heard comes from former FSN employees. Apparently the dude things he's the coolest thing since canned bread, and he would flaunt his ego like no tomorrow. Of course, that's just rumor.

 

Another one I've heard (from someone on the Panthers Message Board) was that Minervini was seen feeling up a Panthers Ice Dancer.

Every person has his or her isolated moments, at least. Niner was a douche to me when I was a young kid when our families were on the same plane, but almost no one else has had any such experience with him, it seems.

 

By Dad knows Rich personally (they're not friends, but he's spoken with him a bunch of times), and my Dad only has the nicest things to say about him. It probably doesn't hurt that my Dad is a die-hard Marlins fan, too.

Weeelllll....I wouldn't go as far as to call Him a moron, but the rest is pretty much true from what I've gathered from my own and others' experiences. Especially the full of Himself part. I refused an interview with Him one time when he saw my tat and He acted like He couldn't believe I would turn Him down. He just sat down next to me and told me he was going to interview me like it was some kind of life changing experience for me to talk with Him. He stomped off when I told him to send Frank over if they wanted to talk to me. Not that I'm important or anything, just that I can't stand the guy.

Acting like He never heard of such a thing and they were just making it all up to mess with HIM. Gimme a break, the guy went to SU. Ice fishing is a normal way of life in that part of the country.

But I have to ask. Why do you keep on capitalizing He and Him. It sounds like you're talking about God. Do you think Craig Minervini is God?

I assumed that Bob was capitalizing in the interest of trying to convey the idea that Craig regarded himself of some sort of deity worthy of worship by mere fans.
