  7. LOS ANGELES -- Jason Williams announced his retirement Friday, ending his 10-year NBA career less than two months after signing with the Los Angeles Clippers. Williams, who helped the Miami Heat to the NBA title in 2006, averaged 11.4 points, 6.3 assists and shot 39.6 percent from the floor in 679 games. The point guard was drafted seventh overall pick in 1998 out of Florida by the Sacramento Kings and averaged 12.8 points and six assists as a rookie. Williams joined the Memphis Grizzlies three years later, and in 2001-02 averaged 14.8 points and eight assists. In four seasons with the Grizzlies, Williams became the club's career assists leader. He played for the Heat from 2005-2008, and started all 23 playoff games in Miami's title run. He signed with the Clippers on Aug. 7. Damn, sad to see him call it quits. I guess his knees couldnt have it anymore. I really liked Jwill, because when he was healthy, he could play ball.

  14. Bucknor made a mistake at his job...like the Marlins' players made mistakes at theirs' tonight. It's part of life. That's not the issue at hand... the issue is that Bucknor is the worst umpire, this is the general feeling among fans, players and coaches... Now, if you were the worst at something, you wouldn't have that job very long... Bucknor does... look at the NFL, Refs that are poorly rated can't officiate "big games" yet Bucknor just got the biggest job (home plate) in a very big game, despite being awful at this job... Bucknor consistently makes mistakes at his job... he should be fired ASAP... but whatever, it's ok to rationalize consistently poor performance now? Nope. Bucknor isn't a good umpire. But I'm talking about the one specific play and one specific game tonight. The Marlins didn't do the little things tonight to win the game. They went 1-11 with .RISP and made 2 unnecessary throwing errors. That didn't help. That isn't getting near as much publicity as Bucknor tonight, however. omg!!! why cant you just admit the despite the fact that we f***ed up, THE UMPIRE F***ED UP LATER ON IN THE GAME WHEN IT MATTERED.
  15. Anyone else not surprised Erick started this thread? He's always quick to defend people who deserve criticism. Of course Bucknor didn't single handedly change the outcome of the game...but he blew a call that was a major determinent of the outcome of the game. And Cantu, Uggla, Andino, Anibal Sanchez (throwing error) to be specific...also played a BIG part. That won't get as much criticism, however. UMPIRE SUCKS! :whistle I get what you say man, but those are two independent mistakes. The fact that we had already made mistakes does NOT take anything from the fact that the ump BLEW the call. One thing has nothing to do with the other.
