  7. Here's an Article about it. MIAMI -- From unheralded fourth starter to the most impressive pitcher on the Marlins' young staff. Carl Pavano is blossoming into one of the top pitchers in the league. For going 5-0 with a 1.37 ERA in June, the unassuming Pavano was voted the National League Pitcher of the Month. "I'm happy for him," catcher Mike Redmond said. "He deserves it. He's done a great job. I hope tomorrow he will find out that he is going to the All-Star Game for the first time in his career." At 9-3 with a 2.92 ERA, Pavano very possibly could be announced as an All-Star when the squads are announced Sunday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. In June, Pavano was a model of consistency. He struck out 31 with only five walks, allowing 27 hits in 39 1/3 innings. On June 16, the right-hander tossed a three-hit, complete-game shutout against the White Sox at Pro Player Stadium. All five of his wins were after Marlins defeats. "He's done a great job for us," manager Jack McKeon said. "There is no question about that. He keeps you in every game. He keeps you in there, giving you every opportunity to go out there and score. "The thing that most impresses me is we talk about young guys, and we have a number of them on our staff, and how it takes them 'x' amount of years to finally put it all together. With him, I thought it was happening last August. I could see it coming where he just got in the groove, and it took him all these years to find out you don't have to be a power pitcher to do it." Technically the fourth starter, Pavano finds himself overshadowed on a hard-throwing staff that includes World Series MVP Josh Beckett, Brad Penny, A.J. Burnett and animated left-hander Dontrelle Willis. "If you asked people before the season who would be our All-Star from our staff, and you said Pavano, people would have thought you were crazy," Redmond said. The way he spots his fastball on the corners, changing speeds from 90-93 mph, Pavano's approach this season reminds McKeon of Greg Maddux. "He's got himself under control," McKeon said. Pavano is the first Marlin to be named NL Pitcher of the Month since Willis did it last June. A major reason Pavano is emerging now is because he's been healthy for two straight seasons. He's logged at least seven innings in 13 straight starts, and has a staff high with 117 innings pitched. "I've seemed to have gotten stronger, and I'm taking care of my body a lot better," Pavano said. About the only good thing that happend in June :confused

  12. Steve Francis must have liked his visit to Orlando on Tuesday, because the Magic and the Rockets have finalized a seven-player trade that's been brewing for a week. Francis, Cuttino Mobley and Kelvin Cato were sent to Orlando for Magic superstar Tracy McGrady , Juwan Howard, Reece Gaines and Tyronn Lue, sources told ESPN.com Insider. The deal is contingent on players passing physicals. An announcement is expected Wednesday afternoon, the sources told Insider. The Rockets are running a "Welcome t-mac!" headline over a photo of McGrady in a Houston uniform on their Web site. It had been reported that Lue likely would have exercised his option to terminate his contract, making him ineligible for the trade and thus holding it up. But Lue has decided to remain in his contract and will play for the Rockets next season, the sources told Insider. C/O Espn.com

It does the same if you put " Weapons of mass destruction" or " French military victories". Not as funny as "miserable failure" but might get a chuckle.
  15. As long as her surgery recovery takes. They'll force it to last at least this long to keep her in the news while she's away from the light recovering

  19. Sad. I'm guessing they do these crazy things because they have no idea what to do with the money.
  20. Here's an article. The Orioles got the right-handed reliever they desperately needed, acquiring Jason Grimsley in a trade with the Kansas City Royals on Monday. Baltimore gave up right-handed prospect Denny Bautista for Grimsley, who immediately agreed to a contract extension through 2005. Grimsley, 36, is 3-3 with a 3.38 ERA in 32 appearances for the Royals this season. Since signing with Kansas City before the 2001 season, Grimsley leads American League relievers with 251 appearances, with a 3.94 ERA over that span. For his career, he's 38-50 with a 4.75 ERA in 13 seasons. Bautista, 23, began the season at Double-A Bowie before making his major league debut with the Orioles on May 25. He made two relief pitches, allowing eight runs in two innings, before being optioned back to Bowie. The Orioles' bullpen has struggled since right-hander Rodrigo Lopez was made a starter in May. Lopez was sent back to the bullpen last week, but injuries may force manager Lee Mazzilli to return him to the rotation. C/O- Baltimoresun.com
  21. Totally agree. After Schmidt's start today, he deserves to start the all-star game. 1-hitting a team, much less the redsoxs, isn't easy.
