Marlins: General manager Admin Beinfest, under contract through 2007 with the Marlins, is believed to have interest in the Dodgers GM post. According to published reports Friday, the Dodgers have not asked the Marlins for permission to speak with Beinfest, who grew up in the Los Angeles area. Two league sources told MLB.com that first baseman Carlos Delgado definitely will be shopped and likely will be traded before the start of Spring Training. Last January, Delgado signed a four-year, $52 million deal with the Marlins with an option for a fifth season. With the Marlins expected to trim payroll, Delgado is a strong candidate to be traded because of his value and remaining salary.
