  1. Only way we receive Rasmus is if we give the Cards Uggla.
  2. Not that i am a Jacobs fan but it is a bit difficult to give up a 1st who is projecte to hit over 30 HRs. Even if he can't do anything else atleast average?
  3. What type of trade value does a first baseman with below average defense, OBP, OPS, AVG have?
  4. Cantu is 1337 at 1st and I dislike Mike Jacobs and his bad OBP, I say we keep Cantu at first and bring up Dallas. Agree with you 100% Positvies - Better infield defense - Increase of 20-30 points in OBP (atleast) Negatives - Lose Homeruns Unfortunately I can't see that happening cause we ain't sending Jacobs to the minors and Jacobs has little trade value. Just how bad is Jacobs ? 1) Below average defense 2) Clogs up the bases (when he manages to get on) offers zero speed 3) Hitting just .235 and IMO will never hit highter than .260 4) .268 OBP (that is disgusting and the best sign he ain't a major league hitter) 5) OPS is below .800 We need to ask yourself are those ccasional Homeruns really worth it?
  5. Does Mike Jacobs get that ball? yes or no
  6. It's rather pointless to lay out actual trade proposals. It's more realistic to just select players that should be dealt and should be targetted. As far as Olsen goes...if we're talking about July, no. As of right now, he's been our most consistent starter this year, so if we're CONTENDERS right now, we can't trade Olsen (who if you look at his #'s has been our ace, this year). You don't think he has been rather lucky so far? for the ERA he currently has his W.H.I.P is pretty high, his K's are down as is his fastball and stuff. His WHIP isn't exactly "ace" stuff, but it is a good .100 lower than league average for starters. Its average so far but I feel its only a matter of time before his ERA goes over 4.5 and the WHIP over 1.4. Olsen stuff today is not what it once was. When he was considered a top prospect he use to work in the low 90's and touch 94-95 when he needed it, he also had a pretty nasty slider. The Olsen of today has a much better change-up but his fastball and slider are just average pitches. Why would you say that? First you say his ERA is going to go up because of his high WHIP. I point out that his WHIP is a good .100 below average, and now you've decided, on nothing more than a whim, that his WHIP is going to go up to? His velocity has dropped but his control is WAY up. This is what I said or what I meant to say: - His WHIP is pretty high for a 3.51 ERA (meaning era will rise) - Although his WHIP might be average right "now", he has been pretty lucky. Olsen average 4.87 K's/ 9 inn (well below average) and a 36/50 walk to strike outs is pretty bad as well. (meaning whip will rise along with era) - All the hard hit balls for outs so far this year and his GBO/FBO ratio at .73 (another not so positive sign) Which brings me to my conclusion- Whip and era will rise Also his control maybe slightly better this year but his K's numbers have dropped by quite a bit.
  7. It's rather pointless to lay out actual trade proposals. It's more realistic to just select players that should be dealt and should be targetted. Players that should be traded Matt Lindstrom- overrated big time Scott Olsen - the Olsen of today reminds me of Mark Redman, I don't think it is a matter of "if" but when he starts getting racked again. Trade him while his value is high. (Something we didn't do with Willis) Mike Jacobs - just sucks, I can't think of a team that would be interested in him except the Giants who have Rich Aurilia at first and maybe the Mariners if they release Sexson Josh Williangham - solid player but to injury prone, won't have any value until he starts hitting for us again and is healthy I totally agree!!! -Guys who throw 100mph are a dime a dozen. If the guy hasn't figured out how to be dominant in two seasons he should be gone! -Olsen hasn't even won a single Cy Young! Not one! He's a bum. -Jacobs only has 17 HR so far! That's nothing. Young 1B who project to hit 35+ HR are worthless. Plus he's cheap! Gone! -Willingham has yet to produce a 1000+ OPS season and play in 162 games straight. I have no use for that kind of shoddy production. I can't believe you didn't mention Uggla. After all we've got Chris Coughlan so we should dump Uggla NOW!!! And mark my words signing that Hanley guy long term was a huge mistake. Dolphin Stadium rules!!! Lol love the sarcasm, hope you are right and I am wrong. Will see...........

  11. The Texas Rangers have zero interest in Mike Jacobs. Their future 1B will be either Justin Smoak or Chris Davis and the loser will be the DH. I would happily give the Rangers Scott Olsen for M.Ramirez and a prosect like John Mayberry who tehy have no room for anyways or Olsen to Cards for Bryan Anderson and Anthony Reyes or Chris Perez New Rotation A. Miller Nolasco Johnson and 2 from Tucker Volstad A. Reyes ?? De La Cruz
  12. I love the idea of trading with the Rangers. I would be giddy with any of Salty/Ramirez/Teagarden. To get one though we are obviously going to have to part with some pitching, the Rangers are stacked with first baseman hitting prospects, as throwing in a Logan/Gaby doesn't work for them. I'd love to see if they would bite on Scott Olsen for one of the Catchers, but I gotta think they would prefer a Ryan Tucker/Chris Volstad. I hear Kevin Gregg should get it done. I said Kevin Gregg and perhaps another pitcher. I don't see why you're bashing it, considering someone else just mentioned Hendrickson. As a throw in/throw away. ...and then Texas would give us another player, as well...if you read his post. + I'd say Texas would 10x prefer Gregg (a decent reliever) over Hendrickson, who well...we know the story. How about this proposal? Badenhop, Hendrickson and Aaron Thompson for Max Ramirez, Andrew Laughter and John Mayberry Hendrickson has to have negative trade value at this point. He is probably going to be released anyway when Johnson/Mitre/Sanchez are activated. If we want a young catcher from Texas we will have to give up pitching. They will be only interested in names such as Nolasco, Olsen, Miller, Volstad, Tucker, De La Cruz, Vanden Hurk. Another name we should be targeting is Bryan Anderson(cards)
  13. we got a catcher in the 2nd round last year but he is a really bad hittter It was actually the third round (Mike Stanton was drafted in the 2nd). And Jameson Smith is actually doing pretty well against RHP: .306/.429/.371/.800, walking over 18% of the time and a 14/17 BB/K ratio. If he could turn into a .400 OBP catcher only against RHP, I'd gladly take it. It's not hard to find a RH back up catcher to start against LHP. Obviously you don't want to put all your marbles in that bag, but if he can become that, he'd be a useful player. If we don't get Posey, get Crow, and trade some of our pitching for Teagarden/Salty/Clement/Anderson/Yadda Yadda Yadda. Then instead of waiting years and years hoping Skipworth works out, we get an ace pitching and a basically MLB ready C spec: WOOO. That's what I'm hoping happens if Posey doesn't fall to us. Would you give up Volstad and someone else for one of those catcher? I would not. We need a catcher but we need pitching more. I doubt we could get any of those catchers unl;ess Volstad is in the deal. For Olsen I am pretty sure we can Anderson (Cards), Teagarden (Tex)
  14. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...8&fext=.jsp I love it !!!!!! Brian Matusz
  15. http://www.baseballamerica.com/statistics/...ds/?pl_id=18369 Pass. Look at the whip, hits allowed, batting average against, and k's per 9.
  16. Wish list 1) Buster Posey - not likely 2) Brian Matusz - good shot if he is not selected by the O's at #4 3) Justin Smoak - likely will go to the O's at #4 or Giants at #5 4) Aaron Crow - will likely be there 5) Kyle Skipworth Really hope if Matusz or even Crow are there at #6 we go that route.
  17. For Faustino De los Santos, Gio Gonzalez and Ryan Sweeney. Great trade by Billy IMO.
  18. Love this trade for the O's.
  19. My ideas: 1) Trade Carlos Martinez and maybe Graham Taylor for Andy Marte 2) Sign Morgan Ensberg and or Jorge Cantu (if the Padres don't offer him arby) 3) Trade Kevin Gregg for Ronny Cedeno and Billy Petrick (If this occurs put Cedeno at 2B and move Uggla to 3B) I would not mind acquiring Cedeno at all, that would actually be a very solid move, but not for Gregg. Cedeno's value is shot at this point and could be had for the right scraps. Shapiro would never ever do that. Never ever ever. I think that's a bad trade for Gregg as well. But I would see if we can pry anyone of Barfield/Marte/Francisco/Choo away from Cleveland for Gregg. If you can get one of the infielders and one of the outfielders (or even step that up for Guitterez if you're feeling saucy), that would be one great trade for Gregg. If Shapiro won't take a deal like that from us then I hope he either keeps Marte/trades him somewhere else / loses him for nothing as he is out of options. Just curious but what do you think Marte is worth alone? and you should watch what you say.......... Next up. Why do you have this man crush on Jessie Barfield? he was awful last year...just brutal to watch (offensively likely bottom 10 MLB) and he is a career .190 hitter vs righties in the minors. His rookie season was ok with if you consider home/road splits. So whats the big fuss? is he a defensive specialist? platoon player? if so I don't want to trade a Gregg or anything special for a player like that. Splits 2006 (.331 vs Lefties /.266 vs Righties) Splits 2007 (.221 vs Lefties/ .255 vs righties) minors career .190 hitter vs righties http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/majors/news/262806.html I'll take Cedeno on my team and he is definately available. Petrick is a good arm power arm out of the pen. How is the Gregg deal bad? bad because not getting enough (If not enough add a Mark Holliman or Angel Pagan) or Cubs getting screwed (because they definately aren't) As for other Indian players. Choo- I believe had some serious arm surgery last season, is expected to miss spring training and if I am correct is out of options as is Marte (Pass) Francisco- potential is as a 4th OF, can be a pretty decent stop gap CF until Maybin is ready in 2008. Guitterez- player with highest value, good d, power, k's a ton, low average (and might have 1 option left if not out of them as well) A good deal from them would be something more like Franciso/Guitterez and Jordan Brown
  20. My ideas: 1) Trade Carlos Martinez and maybe Graham Taylor for Andy Marte 2) Sign Morgan Ensberg and or Jorge Cantu (if the Padres don't offer him arby) 3) Trade Kevin Gregg for Ronny Cedeno and Billy Petrick (If this occurs put Cedeno at 2B and move Uggla to 3B)
  21. Would like for us to pass on Barfield just because I know we will likely overspend by giving up either Gregg or multiple prospects. Would much rather have Ronny Cedeno (Cubs). Something like Kevin Gregg for Ronny Cedeno and Billy Petrick can work out well for both teams IMO
  22. Would like us to pass on Helms but I guess its up to the Phillies at this point. Give me Morgan Ensberg and lets keep the prospect (which in this case is rumored to be Scott Netsor)
  23. Jose Garcia-R-Athletics Dec. 6 - 4:36 pm et Athletics designated RHP Jose Garcia for assignment. He goes to make room for Jay Marshall on the roster. Back in October, the A's picked the rehabbing Garcia over Marshall. That they're changing their minds now suggests that Garcia has suffered some sort of setback in his recovery from Tommy John surgery. If that's the case, he'll probably clear waivers. If not, someone should take a chance on him. rotoworld
  24. Looks like Barton will be gone #1 overall after all (Padres via trade) followed by Bierd (Det) or Meek (Rays) to either the Astros/Pirates (depending on trade) http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/prospects/?p=680
  25. Another interesting name out there that is available is Eric Young Jr (Rockies) http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/Y/Eric-Young-1.shtml (Just found out he is eligible)
