  1. Why doesn't baseball develop a salary cap? Wouldn't this help baseball stay competitive in other places besides New York and Boston? The player's union is too strong. They wouldn't agree to it. You saw what happened in hockey to get a salary cap....
  2. Another Pitcher :banghead The Florida Pitchers!!!
  3. The MarlinsWILL win the 2008 World Series
  4. "Gustavo Cisneros Stadium" .... I like the sound of that. "The Marlins open up a 3 game series with the Atlanta Braves tonight at the GCS"
  5. Gustavo Cisneros (born in 1946) is a Latin American media king and is among the world's 100 richest men according to Forbes magazine. Cisneros' $4.6 billion fortune comes from his many media, telecommunications and beverage companies, most notably his large stake Univisi?n. One of his other major holdings is Venevisi?n, the main television provider in Venezuela. Fearing nationalization of his television stations, Cisneros is a vocal opponent of Hugo Ch?vez in Venezuela and Fidel Castro in Cuba, with whom Ch?vez has become increasingly aligned. There is no love lost on either side; Chavez calls Cisneros' TV station one of the "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse." Cisneros' stations in Venezuela chose not to air footage of the public's demonstrations in support of Chavez during the coup attempt of 2002 against him. At this point, more than 80% of Cisneros' operations are based in the United States. With recent consolidation of Ch?vez's power, Cisneros and his company has become less vocal in its opposition inside Venezuela. Cisneros is an advocate of Free Trade Area of the Americas, a proposed agreement to eliminate or reduce trade barriers among all nations in the American continents (except Cuba).
  6. Sounds like this Cisnero guy could really make it happen...
  7. Rotoworld: Yusmeiro Petit - SP - Marlins Yusmeiro Petit allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings and struck out five yesterday for Magallanes of the VWL. Petit moved to 3-1 with a 1.95 ERA and a 25/6 K/BB ratio in 31 1/3 IP. Impressive. You think he'll crack the big league roster in 2006??
  8. I meant to Cisneros, i posted in the wrong topic. He cant do that? Why? Recognizing there are captive minority partners who came with him from Montreal, and silent partners he inherited from John Henry, if he sells a minority interest to someone (and buying a minority interest is not something a seasoned investor would ever do unless he had an option to purchase majority control at a later date) he sets a valuation on those shares that he may also have to offer to the existing investors, which would dilute any benefit he might accrue buy selling off a piece. DUH!!
  9. That article cuts me deep
  10. Come on FO, do something here... Get a player who is part of the future dammit!!!
  11. Forget the FO, I think other teams are starting to realize that the Red Sox and Mets didn't have to pay so much in the earlier trades, so they're not offering much in return for the remaining players...

I know what you're saying about no more pitching, but the realism is, as long as you have a surplus of pitching, you can always trade for positional players. The Twins organization is a testiment to that, look what they did for Castillo, and they even said "We have a lot of pitching, we can give it up easily". If we send some to another team for a 2B, CF or C then it would make sense... as most teams do need pitching, especially teams like the D-Rays or Angels who seem heavy on hitting prospects. I understand that there is no such thing as too much pitching, but the Fish do need to focus on some other positions. Is it too much of a crime to receive an outfield or catching prospect for one of these plasyers we trade??

Everything is telling me that Juan Pierre is their Plan B. Now that JP is the leadoff man they most desire, Felix Pie or Matt Murton may be heading to Florida. FORGET JEROME WILLIAMS AND RICH HILL....WE DONT NEED ANY MORE PITCHING!!!

Who is going to play short for the Braves now? I think Wilson Betemit will be given the opportunity... I heard that they might sign AGon too...
  15. jsprt05 replied to Iowa's topic in Sports
This is amazing for the Marlins because now the Cubs are despereate for a leadoff hitter and will possibly overpay for Juan Pierre...
  16. Billy...Im ashamed of you!!! Now you cant airboat race your parents at the stadium anymore...
  17. A second shot at Lastings Milledge!!
  18. Pierre and Villone for Cano LoDuca for a catching and outfield prospect
  19. Louie....WHY!!!!! :bsflag
  20. This should be Beinfest's offer... Pierre Villone Minor League pitching prospect (olsen, johnson, whatever) 4 Cano Proctor
  21. An infield of Jacobs, Cano, Ramirez, and Cabrera would be amazing for years to come!!!
  22. Pierre and Villone for Cano WOULD BE AMAZING!!!!
  23. All the other players that we traded way (Beckett, Lowell, Delgado) I could less what they do elsewhere, but I actually wish Luis all the best in Minnesota and hope he does extremely well there.
  24. jsprt05 replied to Lefty's topic in Miami Marlins
The Castillo trade has me frustrated as well.. The Beckett/Lowell trade wasen't that bad to me- Hanley kind of eased the pain. The Delgado trade wasen't that bad to me- Mike Jacobs eased the pain.. This Castillo trade just makes me sick. Unless this Bowyer guy turns into out 9th inning man of the future...young closers are amazing!
