Name game: Tampa Bay to stay as Devil Rays in 2007
Florida has a lot of people in the Central FL area that hate hearing the word "Devil". This is not the first time I have heard people opposed to taking the name 'devil' out of a team's name. There was discussion about that a few years ago regarding the New Jersey Devils, which some people found offensive. They should really have tougher skin than that. If 'devil' gets removed, then the Redskins should have to change their name. Damn..good thing none of them have seen the Dirt Devil my wife bought..they'll EXORCISE us On a serious note..the former Devil Ray AA team in Orlando was just called The Orlando Rays..same logo/color scheme as the pre 2001 D-Rays but the team was officially known as the Orlando Rays.

Let me guess...pressure from the right to not have a team with "Devil" in their name? That would be sad. Wow, is this really how liberals view the Christian Right? Sad. Actually, when we see quotes like this from the Christian Reich--oops--Right, it's more than sad. It's downright scary.... In an interview with Jerry Falwell on Robertson's 700 Club, Falwell said, "God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve." Robertson replied, "Jerry, that's my feeling. I think we've just seen the antechamber to terror." Falwell then went on to blame the abortionists, pagans, feminists, gays and lesbians and the ACLU for the terrorist attacks. "I point the finger in their face and say, 'You helped this happen.'" Robertson quickly chimed in, "I totally concur, and the problem is we have adopted that agenda at the highest levels of our government." "He has destroyed the Venezuelan economy, and he?s going to make that a launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism all over the continent. You know, I don't know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think we really ought to go ahead and do it. It's a whole lot cheaper than starting a war, and I don't think any oil shipments will stop, but this man is a terrific danger, and the United States -- this is in our sphere of influence. We can't let this happen. We have the Monroe Doctrine. We have other doctrines that we have announced, and without question, this is a dangerous enemy to our south, controlling a huge pool of oil, that could hurt us very badly. We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability. We don't need another $200 billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator. It's a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with."--Pat Robertson "There should be absolutely no 'Separation of Church and State' in America."--David Barton of "Wallbuilders." "The long-term goal of Christians in politics should be to gain exclusive control over the franchise. Those who refuse to submit publicly to the eternal sanctions of God by submitting to His Church's public marks of the covenant?baptism and holy communion?must be denied citizenship."--Gary North, Insitutite of Christian Economics. "We are to make Bible-obeying disciples of anybody that gets in our way."--Jay Grimstead (Coalition on Revival) "If you're not a born-again Christian, you're a failure as a human being."--Jerry Falwell "Atheistic secular humanists should be removed from office and Christians should be elected...Government and true Christianity are inseparable."--Robert Simonds (Citizens for Excellence in Education) "Democracy originated in the mind of a rational being who has the deepest hatred for God."... "Do you realize that the only thing that gives democracy existence is sin? The absence of democracy is perfect obedience to God."--Robert T. Lee (Society for the Practical Establishment of the Ten Commandments) That's pretty damn scary to me, son...

Name game: Tampa Bay to stay as Devil Rays in 2007
Supposedly there's been opposition to the name from the bible-thumpers in this area because of the "Devil" in "Devil Rays." I'll assume they don't like the New Jersey Devils or Islanders center Miroslav Satan either It's the name of the fish, dang it!

Name game: Tampa Bay to stay as Devil Rays in 2007
I'd prefer them to remain the Devil Rays. However, if they want to draw tons of fans, they should call themselves the "Blue Sox" or something to that effect. i like the Devil Rays. i wouldnt mind something like Blue Sox... but if they change their name, they're either going with just The Rays, The Thunder :thumbdown or...... The Tarpons :plain Reds had a farm team in the FSL...The Tampa Tarpons. In fact, I think it was in '99 that the Devil Rays did a "Turn Back The Clock" day where they wore old Tarpon uniforms combined with a cap giveaway. To me, a name change is just a ploy to sell merchandise. Minor league teams have been doing it for years. Isn't what in a name..should be what's on the field. I think the last team to change a name without moving was the Houston Colt .45s becoming the Astros and that was only because of a lawsuit filed by the gun manufacturer... if you dont count the Angels... The Angels have always been the Angels. Houston came in as the Colt .45s aka The Houston Colts in the 1962 NL expansion. They decided to change their name a few years later when the Colt Firearm Company wanted a big piece of the team's marketing pie. http://www.athomeplate.com/astrosname.shtml

Nady to DL, Milledge Up
I still can't beleive a couple of extra dolars stopped Lastings from being apart of that Delgado trade :banghead Only $15 million. :banghead :banghead :plain :hat That's why the Sox couldn't trade Manny to the Mets. They wanted Milledge in the deal and the Mets resisted I'll tell you this...had Davey Johnson gotten the Marlins gig, you'd have seen Milledge in teal. He would have moved heaven and earth to get this kid. Johnson managed Milledge in the IBAF World Cup in Holland and at the COPABE Olympic Regional Qualifier in Phoenix last year. If Milledge is sent back down soon and Johnson is named the manager for the COPABE Qualifier in Cuba in August, you'll see Milledge in a US uniform again. Milledge is going to be great. How great..that's yet to be known.

Analysis Of the Offseason Trades
To the guy who said Beckett has been one of the best pitchers in the majors this year: He's got a 3.80 era. Thats good for boston (who has no pitching), but it's not best in the majors material. Make that a 4.46 ERA. I'd rather see what his ERA will be at the end of the season. Even Pedro had some not-so-great outings at times when he was still with us.

And believe me...we are NOT complaining! Wow you are such a tool. Nice sig a$$hole. You're welcome. And you're not the first person to call me that. I'm sure you've been called that as well...but I won't lower myself to do it. Reds fan, eh? I can see why you now like the Marlins. Must have something to do with Joey Pitbull's pre-1999 Reds grooming code. I would type more in this post, but you've reminded me that I have to get some Preparation H... And believe me...we are NOT complaining! Wow you are such a tool. Nice sig a$$hole. it had to be him agian but dont worry Felo 2008 or 2007 its gonna be Marlins and Red Sox in the world series and that is when the curse of the hanley will be born :thumbup Maybe so, but it won't be with Joey Pitbull...he'll be out of JRS by then... Imagine Beckett shutting out the Marlins in the deciding game I think it will end up being decided by Hanleys game winning singel :thumbup We shall see, we shall see... Wish we could :ban this :jackass Not a fan of healthy debate and The First Amendment, are you? Never said I disliked the Marlins. I just don't like anal-retentive bullies like Girardi. I'm waiting for him to get on one player too many and for a bunch of players to start growing mustaches in retaliation. It could happen. And The Players Association will back the players to the hilt on that issue. And since this thread is about off-season deals...watch. You'll see guys not willing to sign with the Marlins because of Girardi's rules about non-baseball areas. Rollie Fingers retired rather than shave his trademark handlebar when the Reds wanted to sign him. I wouldn't ban you... The troll like qualities of all your previous posts were tolerable but your new obnoxious, taunting anti-Marlins sig is a disgrace. Taunting? I assume your parents never taught you to say "thank you" when receiving a gift? You got a gift as well, son. A gift named Hanley. Plus..where does it say "anti-Marlins?" The only people connected with the Marlins I have ever disliked? Huizenga and Girardi. I'd say more, but I'd rather not...I know where to stop, son...

Analysis Of the Offseason Trades
Multiple players have in the past signed with the Yankees and foregone any type of facial hair in favor of the Yanks preferred clean cut look. One plays CF for them right now and another from the recent past had a distinguished 1B/DH stint. Of course they have more money than God to throw at these guys, but if the Marlins present the best offer to a FA it's hard to see facial hair being an issue for everyone. Yankees do allow mustaches and Willie Randolph allows goatees. As for Benedict Demon, toilet paper with his likeness is a strong seller back home, next to the same product with Steinbrenner's visage, I am told. As for that 1B/DH, he's really loved back in Oakland, isn't he? You'd be surprised how many players will NOT sign with the Yankees. If Rollie Fingers, Dennis Eckersley, Bruce Sutter or Al Hrabosky were in thir primes, money wouldn't matter... they'd rather sign someplace else than shave for the Marlins. Too bad Joey Pitbull has the USMC mentality...

Clemens agrees with Astros
Fine. We can now give Beckett #21, Lowell can get back his #19 and maybe the Sox will finally retire #25 for Tony C. For years we didn't issue #21 to anybody. That's why Beckett got #19..on the slim hope Clemens would come back. Clemens wants to stay tied with Cy Young for most wins in a Sox uni..let him. His loss. After Boggs left, we let Alejandro Pena wear #26.... Hell, even Dustan Mohr looked good in #18 during the brief time he was in Fenway...

Respect the Constitution??????? ?Mr. President,? one aide in the meeting said. ?There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.? ?Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,? Bush screamed back. ?It?s just a goddamned piece of paper!? Reading comprehension. You're response has no relation to my point. I said Bush's judicial nominees respect the constitution, but Bush himself. But Bush himself sure as hell doesn't. Neither do his bosses, Deadeye Dick and Turdblossom Rove. San Antonio, eh? If I was in Texas, I'd be voting this way... (listening to "The Ballad Of Charles Whitman" as I type this)

You're right. I change my mind. His 7 wins are garbage. :mischief His .212 BAA, which is 2nd in the AL, and 1.09 WHIP says otherwise. 8 wins after tonight (I hope)... Now if somebody could tell me why Clement is becoming this year's Byung-Hyun Kim...

And also, this is for WildMarlinMan2003... Bill Clinton is a man of God. Committing one sin does not make a person any less of a religious person. Are the priests and bishops who molested the children any less men of god? You have no right to say that one person or another is not a man of God just for committing a sin. If so, the Pope wasn't a man of god until modern times. Last time I checked sanctioning murder and prejudice is a sin as well. -Beinfest-............... This for Beinfest..... Clinton is a pretty bad person..... 1) 25 Apr 1978 Arkansas state attorney general Bill Clinton allegedly rapes 35-year-old nursing home proprietor Juanita Broaddrick at the Camelot Inn in Little Rock. Broaddrick does not come forward with her story until 1998. 2) May 1991 In a room at Little Rock's Excelsior Hotel, Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton exposes his penis to state employee Paula Jones and propositions her to perform fellatio. In her civil deposition, Jones will later claim to have witnessed certain "distinguishing characteristics" of the governor's genitalia, the precise nature of which soon becomes the subject of much speculation. For her trouble, Jones eventually receives an out-of-court settlement for $850,000 and a nude pictorial in Penthouse magazine. 3) 27 Jan 1992 Candidate Bill Clinton and Gennifer Flowers mutually accuse each other of lying about whether or not they had a 12-year adulterous relationship, between 1977 and 1989. Of course, from Clinton's 1998 testimony we know for a fact that they did. For her trouble, Flowers eventually receives an out-of-court settlement for $800,000 and a nude pictorial in Penthouse magazine. 4) 29 Mar 1992 Arkansas Governor and Presidential candidate Bill Clinton tells the New York Times: "When I was in England, I experimented with marijuana a time or two, and I didn't like it. I didn't inhale, and never tried it again." 5) 28 May 1993 After being interrupted by AIDS protesters during a speech in Philadelphia, President Clinton opines: "Let me tell you something -- Wait a minute. You know one things that's wrong with this country? Everybody gets a chance to have their fair say." 6) 5 May 1995 During commencement at Michigan State University, President Clinton declares: "There is nothing patriotic about hating your country, or pretending that you can love your country but despise your government." 7) 15 Nov 1995 Bill Clinton gets a blowjob from Monica Lewinsky in a private study in the White House while on the phone with Reps. Jim Chapman and John Tanner. 8) 8 Jun 1996 In his weekly radio address, President Bill Clinton reminisces: "I have vivid and painful memories of black churches being burned in my own state when I was a child." Two days later, after it became clear that no black churches were burned in Arkansas during that period, a deputy White House press secretary clarifies: "The President's recollection is that there were burnings of some black community buildings in the '50s when he was a child." 9) 29 Aug 1996 Dick Morris, the top political adviser to President Bill Clinton and also a married man, resigns abruptly after the Star reveals his long-term relationship with a Washington prostitute. Morris had divulged secret White House information to Sherry Rowlands, even allowing the hooker to secretly listen in on some of his telephone conversations with the President. 10) 8 Nov 1997 President Bill Clinton speaks at a dinner sponsored by the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest gay rights organization. It is the first time an American president has so addressed a gathering of sodomites. 11) 15 Mar 1998 White House aide Kathleen Willey claims on the trashy TV tabloid program 60 Minutes that President Bill Clinton kissed her, touched her breasts and made her touch his "no-no place." Clinton of course denies this version of events. 12) 9 Dec 1999 President Bill Clinton signs legislation outlawing "crush videos," which generally involve women stomping frogs, mice, or other small animals with high heels. This fetish is definitely a niche market. 13) 22 Oct 2003 On Crossfire, Jerry Falwell explains that God arranged for President Clinton to be elected (and re-elected) so that Americans would beg for somebody else: "I think that we needed Bill Clinton, because we turned our backs on the Lord and we needed a bad President to get our attention again. To pray for a good President. That's what I believe." 14) Oct 2003 During a trip to Spain, former President Bill Clinton tells reporters that British Prime Minister Tony Blair's recent heart arrhythmia didn't surprise him: "I've known about this for a long time. He told me about it quite a few years ago." For their part, Blair's people dispute the claim. LIES and cheating on his wife many times.....he is not a true Christian. How can people believe this man? Ah, yes. Jerry Falwell, that bastion of level headed thinking. Thank you for pointing this out. Before this I thought Clinton was a good president, but since The Good Reverent doesn't think so, I must have been wrong. Ah yes..The Good Rev Falwell..the man who openly praised apartheid in South Africa and openly praised Jim Crow laws in the Southern US. The man who tried to use the pulpit to buy a pardon for Ollie North..major violation right there..but he got away with it. The man who said gays. liberals, and women caused 9/11. And the man who lost his fight to banish The First Amendment...

Vampire Protests White Castle
Theres White Castles everywhere. The first one was opened in Illinois actually. On a side note, stories like this are why people hate America. Yeah they aren't just in New Jersey for sure. Although they always seem to be in bad neigborhoods. Wow I never knew that. People around here always talk about going to NJ for White Castle so I made that assumption. Kinda like In and Out Burger being a California thing. Woah I have never heard of In and Out Burger. Used to be two in Broward in the late 80s...one on SR 7/US 441 in Lauderhill and one near BCC North on Coconut Creek Pkwy For real? I thought they were only in CA and in a few places of Nevada. Definitely not an East Coast thing. Oh, and In and Out has a secret menu. If you know the code words you get special food items. It's nothing sketchy though. :lol For real..used to hit the one on SR 7 all the time. Have they FINALLY gotten What-A-Burger down there yet? Just as I was moving to this area, they FINALLY got Steak & Shake down there. Damn, I miss Swiss Chalet on Commercial...first place I ate in Lauderdale the day I got there in March '85... Two What-a-burgers in Gainesville and I think a few exist in Tallahassee, but I dunno about South Florida. I think What-a-burger is slowly creeping down the state of Florida. At least 3 What-A-Burgers here in the Tampa Bay area. One's on the way to the MIL's so I can at least grab something either on the way there or on the way back. Now Waffle House...just give me a Lib's Patty Melt rare with my hash browns scattered and covered, an iced tea to drink and I am in heaven! Of course I doubt most of you have ever had a roast beef sandwich from Kelly's or a Gino's burger (google time, folks!)
