US Open 2008
What's with all the hate on the WS all the time? Is it because they aren't "OMFG HAWT HAWT HAWT"? I swear to God sometimes people don't even care about their actual skills. Plus, gotta root for the US whenever possible. They're ALL we have when it comes to tennis. Roddick is garbage, LOL Blake, Davenport is done soon, we got some young people too but they aren't winning anything any time soon, and everyone else isn't worth mentioning. People need to stop hating on the WS for no reason. Anyway, Daniela Hantuchova went down so another hottie is eliminated. Ivanovic struggled to get by that Russian girl whose name I forgot too. Spadea almost upset Safin and Gasquet DID get upset by Tommy Haas. I actually called that one but didn't type it anywhere. Sam Querrey won in straight sets. Pretty fun day so far. I really don't have much of a problem with Venus, but I can't stand Serena... it seems like every time she loses it's because she was playing hurt or some other lame excuse... because it's obvious to everyone she's not hurt when she's playing... I remember a fiasco at Wimbledon where she made it seem like here leg was shot but still hit a 100+ mph serve, which anyone that plays tennis will tell you is next to impossible... Venus just plays, no excuses, no gloating... and she's good... Your dead on balls accurate with Serena. She has no class whatsoever. And when she loses she always blames it on her poor play and not her opponents good play. I am just tired of her antics, and her flashy earrings and her poor attitude! I think she's correct. In her matches, because of her power advantange over her opponents, she dictates the points and who wins and who losses is pretty much dependent on how well or how poorly she plays and is out of the control of how her opponent plays. Her comments may not be the nice thing to say but I think she's right.

A new GOP VP name: Kay Bailey Hutchinson?
I don't care how many properties he owns and I don't care how involved he is or is not in the management of his or his wife's investment portfolio and I don't know why anyone would care. If you care about either of these things, why?

Grey's Clipboard: Young arms spark Marlins' resurgence
i beg to differ he has control issues at times but when he is on, he is a capable major league pitcher EDIT: regards the post above Control is pretty important. Miller, for example, has very good stuff but because of his control issues he got knocked around. You can't be a good pitcher with control issues and you can;t assume a guy will get his control issues fixed just because.

Can money buy happiness?
Money doesn't buy happiness but it sure allows you to have a much more enjoyable life than you would otherwise.

8/26 Post Game
Gregg has cost of us some games, but don't forget... Billy Wagner- 7 blown saves Jose Valverde- 6 blown saves Francisco Rodriguez- 5 blown saves. Even the best closers blow some chances, and plenty of times his team has let him down. I am not defending his crappy pitching at times...but this team overall just gets crappy in the 9th on defense too. Or least crappier than usual  I'm not a big fan of his but to be fair 3 of his blown saves would have been avoided had we turned taylor made double plays that weren't turned. Two by Hanley and one by Cantu. He also blew two saves on wild pitches.. these are his fault but just mentioning it. I think one of the wild pitch blown saves came on the same game Cantu blew the DP. I only remember one of those wild pitch losses. And it wasn't a blown save, he came in with the score tied. SF game. But that was a WP that would have been blocked by a decent catcher. I went back to check. On June 2nd he blew a save in Atlanta when the tying run scored on a WP. We lost the game in extra innings. On 8/21 in SF he came in in a tied game and allowed the winning run to score on a WP. So he has one blown save and one loss on wild pitches. We don't agree on much but we agree that a good catcher will block more pitches than a not so good catcher.

Luis Gonzalez is a stud.
Maybe Freddie doesn't know Jeremy is a 2nd half player? Maybe Jeremy doesn't know Jeremy is a second half player. Maybe Jeremy should start reading the board and then he would know he's a 2nd half player.

Romney as McCain's VP would only enhance House-Gate. I say go for it. What is House-Gate?

Ramirez continues to duck tough questions
Hanley is the worst shortstop in MLB. He needs to be moved to Center Field. Great idea. While we're at it, let's move Maybin to SS. :thumbup Maybin is a good defensive outfielder.. there's no need to move him. :thumbup Sorry, for those who didn't get it, I was being a sarcastic bastard ... thought it was obvious, guess not. :confused I thought you meant that it would be a bad idea to move Hanley and that it would be akin to moving Maybin to the IF. Isn't that what you meant? :confused

He did the same thing in Colorado and I think that was with the old glove. I'm interested to see what the Dominicans do in the baseball classic with him. I assume Reyes will be in SS. Where will they put Hanley? CF, I hope, and hopefully he plays it well giving the Marlins some ideas. He may be the best athlete in the agme but all his athletism is wasted at SS because he can't play it well.

Playoff Chances...
That's the problem with chasing more than one team. I would say the chances are less than 5% for the division and less than 1% for the WC.

Dan Uggla
We have alot of players that are basically the same type of hitter. (Uggla, Jacobs, Ross, McPhereson, Hermida) Lots of power potential, high strikeouts, .240-260 batting avg., average defensively. We don't need all of them. Trade the ones who are the most expensive, oldest or least versatile. And take trade value into consideration. Jacobs and Uggla are the most logical choices. I wouldn't put Uggla in the same bucket as those other guys. Uggla is one of the top 3 or 4 2B in the game. Hermida and Jacobs are both below average at their positions. Cody has done well but hasn't proven he can do well over an extended period of time. I would keep Uggla and Cody and give McPherson a shot at 3B and put Cantu at 1B.

When you have an offensive struggling team like we do... 3 catchers is not a problem if two of them can hit... look at today... Three catchers is a problem when one of them, Treanor, adds nothing to the team. He's the best defensive catcher we have at this point. He's a below average defensive catcher who is injured to boot. He adds nothing. That's kinda harsh but I guess you're entitled to your opinion. This year he's worse than average in allowing PB + WP and he's absolutely horrible in allowing stolen bases. He has allowed 1.00 SB per game whjich is the worst in MLB among all catchers with 500+ innings that are not named Ramon Hernadez.

McCain Forgets How Many Houses He Owns
According to Obama's tax returns from 2000-2006, the Obamas have given far less to charity than John McCain has. In all but the two most recent years reported, the Obamas gave around 1% or less of their income to charity. Their contributions increased in 2005 and 2006 to 4.7% and 6.1% respectively, but still are far short of those of McCain who gave 28.6% in 2006 and 27.3% in 2007. But if you listen to Obama's words you will hear that he is very concerned about the least among us. Hard to say McCain has a disconnect and doesn't care. To donate nearly 30% of your income shows you understand, at least a little. I think McCain donating nearly 30% shows his understanding of tax write offs. I think know you're clueless about tax donations.

And his name...is DAN UGLY!
I do not see this aggression that you are referring to in either Treanor, Willingham, or Hermida... what is your definition of aggression? Not sitting back and taking the walk, trying to force a fly ball when there is a man on 3rd rather than staying back and hitting to opposite field, chasing in hitters counts, etc. Hermida, Treanor, and Willingham would take walks if left to their own devices and the team would be better for it. Aren't they walking at pretty much the same rate as their career rates?
