  1. Who are they? You can get a quick view of the stats of every player in the organization here: http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/FL...08_orgbat.shtml
  2. How come you guys werent saying anything when jeremy hermida had that 12 game hitting streak? Seriousley, you have to show some patience. The talent is there, it's just taking him a little longer to use his talents and become the great hitter we know he can. And Mungo, how the hell is he a bust? He showed that he can play at a very high level against good competition. To me that isnt a bust. He has never done it on a consistant basis. Until he does that, stays healthy for a full year and hits more than 17 or 18 HR's, I'll believe he is worth what we drafted him at. Unless he does that he is a bust. Well, he's been healthy basically all this year and is on pace for 18 home runs. And he's tied for 21st out of 25 RFs in OPS. He has stunk this year.
  3. I was looking at the strenght of schedule of the teams I think we'll be competing with for playoff spots. I adjusted it for each opponents home / road record. The Cardinals have the toughest schdule (.514). The Brewers the easiest (.473). Within the division ours is a bit tougher than the Mets and Phillies. The difference between our .494 and the Mets .482 is equivalent to about 0.8 game so I guess in a way we're about 2.3 games back. Cardinals - .514 Marlins - .494 Phillies - .483 Mets - .482 Brewers - .473
  4. When Miller, Tucker, Hendrickson, Badenhop, RVH and Frankie start we play about .400 ball. When Nolasco, Olsen, JJ and Volstad start we play about .666 ball. If we keep the starts of the .400 guys to a minimum then we have a chance.
  5. ...maybe this is for the best right now. I think so. We're 7-13 in his starts. don't say that to Rabathan, he says thats a bad way to analyze a pitcher. It is. But he also has a 1.659 WHIP. That's a good way to analyze pitchers. It's not the best but it's one of many ways of doing it.
  6. NL East - Mets NL Central - Cubs NL West - DBacks NL Wild Card - Brewers AL East - Red Sox AL Central - White Sox AL West - Angels AL Wild Card - Yankees
  7. ...maybe this is for the best right now. I think so. We're 7-13 in his starts.
  8. I have always liked Steve Phillips. Kruk knows nothing about baseball, and Steve is usually pretty good. And Karl Ravech is right behind Chase Utley on the biggest deuschbag list. Kruk played the game. Phillips traded one of the best young pitchers in the game (Kazmir) for Victor Zambrano. Phillips is a douche, and he's as much a Mets' homer, as Kruk is a Phillies' homer. Phillips once called David Wright "son" on the show. I don't think Phillips traded Kazmir. It was the guy after him. But I agree. He's a douche. Kruk is a bigger douche.
  9. Willis is not getting traded. He's injured and hopes to come back in September.
  10. They really don't want to over diagnose people with this type of injury because the time commitment to rehab/return is so long. But the good news is that there is a very high rate of return from TJ surgery compared to shoulder surgery so there is no reason to think he won't be back strong. I suspect his elbow issues have always contributed to his inconsistency so this may be a good thing for his career. I don't think the Marlins would be foolish and let him get away until he's had a chance to rehab and see where he's at. I doubt we'll pay him the $1 million or so it would take to keep him. A bunch of players will be eligible for arbitration next year.
  11. As terrible as Uggla played, the A-Hole Of The Game Award goes to Billy Wagner for blowing the lead and letting the game go into extra innings. Relievers blow leads all the time. It's a very common occurrence. When was the last time you saw a guy make 3 errors and also fail to drive in the go ahead run in extra innings from 3rd with less that two outs twice while also strking out with a runner on in another AB and in one of the ABs with the runner on 3rd he hit into a DP? He had one of the worst games I've ever seen. I think he'll have bad memories about it for the rest of his life but I don't think it will adversely impact on how he plays the rest of the year.
  12. Rab might have this stat... going back to yesterdays game... I see a disturbing trend developing with this team. What is our record after scoring first? (heck, in the first inning, nonetheless) I don't how many times we've ended up losing after getting an early lead but I can garuntee it isnt good and it bothers me When we lead after the first inning, we are 15-7. When we lead after the 3rd inning, we are 28-6. We don't give away as early leads as it seems. How many times a day on this forum does fervent opinion run smack into the wall of immutable fact. Only 3 times a week. Not nearly as often as...OOOOH, I see what you did there. How does the 15-7 compare to the MLB average?
  13. Miller has the 2nd worst ERA+ in MLB after you know who. That's an F. He should be in AA learning how to throw strikes.
  14. 3) Inge isn't a catcher. We don't need some backup infielder who is trying to learn to be a backup catcher just so that he can get some playing time. Might as well put Wes Helms back there. Inge is a catcher who plays other positions. He came up as a catcher and was moved to the IF and OF after they signed Pudge.
  15. I think it's nutty to call Hanley an "up and coming" player. He came three years. If you say Hanley is "up and coming" because he supposedly hasn't reached his prime because he's younger than 27 then why isn't Cabrera considered an "up and coming" player? When Pujols was 25 he had 5 top 5 in MVP voting. Was Pujols an "up and coming" player at age 25?
  16. Not everything's sunshine and daisies. One week of good play doesn't erase 3 months of bad play. I don't trust this team. Be positive and it's actually been 7 months of mediocrity. :banghead Ever thought that you might just be a mediocre team? Games aren't played on paper but this team is too talented to be mediocre. They aren't really. What's so good about your team? Do you think they don';t have any good players? They have a few.
  17. C: Treanor: D- 1B: Jacobs: D+ 2B: Uggla: A SS: Ramirez: A 3B: Cantu: B LF: Willingham: B, Gonzalez: C CF: Ross: B+ RF: Hermida: D+ SP: Nolasco: B+, Olsen: B+, Miller: F, Hendrickson: F
  18. Is that really much of an upgrade at center? It's a downgrade.
  19. We have 5 billion pitchers that we've drafted (or traded for), all ready to compete for the rotation over the next couple of years. I think all of the 5 billion have stunk in the minors this year except for De La Cruz, Volstad and Tucker and De La Cruz and Tucker have stunk in the majors. Out of the 5 billion the only one that's highly regarded by experts who are not team employees is Volstad. All the others are MIA in all the top prospects list. '08 is not a good year for our pitching prospects.
  20. Don't know if anyone mentioned it but JJ is having a good night in Carolina. Seven shutout innings allowing only 3 hits and 2 walks plus he hit a homer, a double and has 3 RBI.
  21. Since 5/31 he has started every game except for 3. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/FLA/2008_lu.shtml
  22. Extended his hit streak to six games on Thursday. Four of those games have been multi-hit games. He's homered and knocked in 4 runs over that span. When does he start getting the nod every day? He became the everyday CF a few weeks ago when Jones left.
  23. What are you refering to? putting the best starter in Albuquerque into the pen he throws heat, not many SP's can throw 100 for a reason. De La Cruz can throw 100?
  24. With Olivo the errors and the stolen bases allowed would go down.
  25. If the season ended today La Russa would win it.
