Marlins history with signing Latin American prospects?
This ownership will not spend the big money on free agents Latin America prospects. That is one of my big problems I have with this ownership, if your going to build through your farm system, then go out and spend 1st round money on a top latin america talent. This organization history is very good when it comes to signing free agent latin prospect. This is part of the acquiring cheap talent through free agency has always disappointed me since this ownership took over. that's not true...I believe the Marlins signed a kid last year, who plays SS, just like this. His last name was Torres, and he was 16 years old. Scouts said he was gold-glove caliber, at SS. Speaking of him...whatever happened to this kid??? I don't think any player signed in Latin America by Beinfest has made it to the majors and I don't think there's any in the minors that's close to making it.

Marlins fans in Tampa Bay
I'll be there Tuesday night but the Marlins wont. I think it'll be Kazmir vs Dempster and the Cubs.

Willingham added to the Mudcats' roster
3 weeks is because he can be used for only 4-5 innings at a time for a first week and then spend another week full time. At that point the team will consider calling him up pretty much every day going forward On the telecast they said it would be a week to 10 days. That seems more likely than 3 weeks.

Three weeks seems like a long time if he begins playing tonight.

Billy Wagner at it again!
The left-handed closer has continued his assault on his own clubhouse, however. Wagner became agitated after the Mets lost three of four to the last- place Washington Nationals, especially Thursday's conclusion of the four-game set that saw Carlos Delgado line into a double play, with Carlos Beltran getting picked off third to end the game. Now, the lack of availability at the conclusion of games by New York's Latin players became an issue last year when then-catcher Paul Lo Duca offered out his disgust of how only a handful of players were dealing with the media after games. Said Wagner to reporters after Thursday's loss, "Can someone tell me why the (expletive) the closer's being interviewed when I didn't even play," Wagner told reporters http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform...aspx?id=4150331 This is the "leave early" incidences, and how it was becoming commonplace I was talking about, before people call me wrong... The article you read didn't give the whole story... ========== Spicing his remarks with expletives, Wagner wondered aloud why reporters were asking him questions, since he did not pitch, and not instead questioning players who did play and whose lockers were across the room. "I get it," Wagner said. "They're gone." The they, from the direction of Wagner's angry gesture, seemed to be Carlos Beltr?n, Luis Castillo and, most particularly, Carlos Delgado. Beltr?n and Castillo had indeed spoken to reporters before departing, but Delgado, who lined into a game-ending double play, had dressed and left without doing so. Wagner, it was clear, was suggesting that some Mets players are accountable, and others are not. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/16/sports/b...amp;oref=slogin

Billy Wagner at it again!
The only thing better would have being if one of the blown saves was in a Perez start because of how he threw Perez under the bus a few weeks ago. according to Rabbe though...he probably didn't. :whistle Really classy talking about a teammate publicly that way, huh? Would've been nice to see Perez comeback today and say..."Billy can't be blowing saves for us, when we have a chance to win games, like that." According to Rabb... and what really happened... Perez (and others) left before the media got there, and Wagner was being asked all the questions (Why'd the team lose? Why are you guys playing so poorly?) Wagner answered honestly, they were losing games he had nothing to do with, if you asked him now, he'd tell you that these past few losses were his fault... I can't imagine Wagner reacting like that if it hadn't become commonplace for those players to avoid the media This is completely wrong. Please check the facts.

Post game 6/12
We have Dan Uggla and Wes Helms on the bench....and Fredi sends in Robert Andino. Yeah, it may have not made a big difference, but its still a really stupid move no matter how you look at it. Andino should only play if he's the last person available. Uggla is 2-21 lifetime against Moyer. It was a good night to give him off heading into Tampa. ...and it was wrong to start Amezaga in place for him when he hasn't gotten a hit against a lefty since...a long time. Helms is 4-6 with 2 HR's lifetime against Moyer. Why not give him a start at 3B, and give Cantu the start at 2B? I like that.

Post game 6/12
This was a good series taking 2 out of 3 getting great starting pitching in every game especially coming of the horrible road trip and the disappointing split vs the REds and how well they were playing coming in.

Why not bring up McPherson to play 3rd?
I like the idea too, but right now I'd leave it the way it is - letting McPherson prove he can stay healthy an entire season and also to see the kind of numbers Jacobs puts up for the whole year (assuming he too can stay healthy). However, if Jake gets injured call up McPherson and put Cantu at 1st. I think we would upgrade defensively with McPherson at 3rd and Cantu at 1st (mainly cuz Cantu doesn't have to throw the ball, which seems to be his main problem, although he can pick it pretty well) and from what I've read McPherson is better than Cantu at 3rd. But, remember at the beginning of the year we were calling Jake the clubhouse leader... I think it would be a bad idea to take such a "supposedly" prominent clubhouse figure away from the team unnecessarily - hence waiting for an injury or the end of the season (especially if he doesn't perform up to expectations). Jacobs gives the "juicy" quotes many fans like to read but I don;t think that makes him a leader. Cantu at 3B and Jacobs at 1B are both horrible defensively. Cantu at 1B would probably be a defensive upgrade over Jacobs and Fredo / Helms / Whoever would be a defensive upgrade over Cantu at 3B. We would probably lose some offense but would get a big defensive upgrade. I would give it a shot.

Long day...
I'm guessing they're allowed here since I've never heard otherwise, but he's not being put down. I mean, to me if the vet didn't bring up putting him down and instead saved his life then I guess it shouldn't be a problem. But he's not coming back into this home, it's up to my sis bf to either find a new place it can stay or sell it. As far as my sis goes, I know she was seeing a therapist a couple months ago but not sure if she still is. Seems shes doing a lot better today. And thanks guys

Hanley has truly made strides defensively this year.
Disclaimer: A lot if not most MLB players who are very good and hit homeruns showboat. With that out of the way, Hanley is far an away the Marlin's biggest showboater. I love Hanley and he is the best SS in the majors, but his time with Boston is coming out the way hes starting to look like Manny more and more. There's nothing wrong with a little TO and Chad Johnson and I actually like it as long as it doesn't cost the Marlins bases or games. But for you guys to say he doesn't showboat is hilarious. Here is a clip of one of his latest homerun. Watch the FSN replay. http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/team/player...layer_id=434670 Under Multimedia its the 4th link from the top labeled "Ramirez's two-run homer Watch" Now the best part about the clip isnt Hanley's showboating is Tommy Hutton's excitement and then saying Hanley just "took a look". Thats hilarious considering a month or two ago he bashed Yunel Escobar for basically doing the same thing. Gotta love Tommy. I think maybe LordMagnus was referring to last night's first inning homer when he raised his arm after he rounded first. That doesn't bother me at all but I can only imagine the outrage coming out of Hutton had Escobar done the same thing.

All-Star picks
As of right now, this is what I would put on the field: National League 5. Adrian Gonzalez DH I agree with most of your picks but how can you leave Pujols out? I don't understand that. Pujols was actually my first choice for DH. It was kind of a toss up between the two and I ended up going with Gonzalez based on him having the edge in production. Here's their comparison: Pujols: .347/.475/.631, 16 HR, 42 RBI Gonzalez: .292/.354/.549, 17 HR, 57 RBI Putting up 57 RBI's with almost no protection in that San Diego lineup is impressive. He has carried that offense up until this point in the season and is on pace to drive in 140+ runs. Pujols has also been impressive with an OPS well over 1.000. I could really go with either of them; both deserve it. Pujols and Gonzalez are both having great years. Tough to pick between them.

Hanley has done well, but we could do without the show boating. What show boating?

Among the 5 best in RZR (Revised Zone Rating), among all shorts in the Majors thus far. Check it out: http://www.hardballtimes.com/thtstats/main...DESC&page=1 And for those who don't know what RZR is: Revised Zone Rating is the proportion of balls hit into a fielder's zone that he successfully converted into an out. Zone Rating was invented by John Dewan when he was CEO of Stats Inc. Considering he was labled the worst fielding short in baeball by the Fielding Bible folks last year, I definitely consider this to be "making strides". :cool When you look at RZR together with OOZ Hanley is middle of the pack. I looked at it yesterday afternoon and he was 10th out of 21.

Griffey's 600 HR
He made the right decision in not giving it away. From the Herald: http://www.miamiherald.com/589/story/565650.html WORTH A BUNDLE Experts said the ball could be worth a bundle. ''We feel like Griffey's 600th baseball at auction would bring, conservatively, $50,000 to $100,000,'' said David Kohler, president and chief executive officer of SCP Auctions, which has sold off several of the milestone blasts hit by baseball's all-time home run king, Barry Bonds. The highest-priced home run baseball ever sold at auction, $3 million, was the 70th home run ball hit by Mark McGwire in 1998. Bonds' 756th home run ball, which broke Hank Aaron's record, went for $752,467 at auction.

The Jacque Jones Experiment
Thais is what Beinfest has done repeatedly since '06 does. He takes guys off the scrap heap and sees what they can do. Almost all of them stink and they're let go. But every now and then you'll get an Uggla or a Cody. With that said, I wish this experiment would come to an end.

We simply cannot have Cantu and Jacobs on the same field
Looking at his game log I would say he had one slump all season from 4/23 to 5/6. Just about every player will go through a rough 10 gnme stretch.
