Good to hear that Allison plans to return to camp in the near future!!! It really isn't that unusual that he needed some time off.... time to rethink his priorities. This will be a growing experience for him, and hopefully he'll come back recharged and hungry. Fortunately for Allison he was drafted by a small market club - can you imagine the uproar if he were drafted in New York, Chicago or Boston? I hope he is back soon.

Sounds like potential good news on both fronts. I hope Allison gets his act together. As for Kim, I think the Marlins would be a perfect fit for him. He could buddy up with Choi and have a lot less pressure on him. The switch from Boston to Florida seemed to work out well for Chad Fox last year. :thumbup

What do any of us know about these guys? I just find it funny in Vargas' video, after his first pitch, he dropped the throw back from the catcher. Not a good sign. Shows laziness. Agreed. Oh yeah, what a lazy bum...how could we draft this guy? I mean dropping a return throw from the catcher...c'mon give me a break...didn't our scouts see this? Didn't they watch the footage? What the hell are they doing? I much prefer a pitcher who cleanly catches every ball that comes back from the catcher. There is no excuse for this lackadaisical attitude. :blink:

The inability to trade top picks hurts the lesser teams. Weaver falling to the Yankees would be a joke. For the Yankees to get him at 23 and not have to trade anything of value defeats the whole purpose of a fair and equatable draft. :thumbdown

I would offer Jason Stokes, Olsen and Hutchinson for Beltran. (Murphy is untouchable for me) Beltran will be a free agent at the end of the year. There is NO way the Marlins will be able to re-sign him to a long term deal. Too give up argueable three of our top five prospects for a rental player would not make sense. I would target Kendall. At least we know he would be locked in. I think he would fit in well and bring some competitive fire to a team that IMHO needs a spark. We need a leader to step up (Lowell and Conine are not vocal leaders). The biggest problem we will have is that teams still believe they are in the race. We will have to make due until the All-Star break when teams realize they are out of it and begin to dump pending free agents and salary. Another name to throw out is Matt LeCroy of Minnesota. Might he be expendable with Mauer returning from the DL?

Have there been any discussions of opening a Marlin store in Northern Broward or Southern Palm Beach County? I'd love the chance to purchase merchandise and have another convenient way to purchase tickets. I would think a store in Coral Springs or Boca Raton would do very well.

I think this is a great idea...I wouldn't be surprised if Nunez and Castro were both inculded in a package deal. Nunez was mentioned by the Seattle paper last week and I belive the Mariners could use a young catcher - Dan Wilson is getting up there in age. Obviously more would have to be included but this could be a start. :thumbup A guy can dream right? After all they did dump Carlos Guillen for virtually nothing in the off-season and he's been tearing it up for Detroit.

i said it is ok if gets called up, but he doesn't deserve just yet to start more than Redmond and Castro. If he earns his way to #1, more power to him, but he is not up here for a reason, why? I believe the only reason Treanor or JWilly are not up is simply because Castro is out of options. Redmond is the ideal backup catcher - for some reason he cannot endure the rigors of a full season. Castro has proven himself on the Triple A level (see Calgary numbers) and in abbreviated PT over the last couple of years. Ideally, the Marlins would like to get something (anything) for Castro. His name was mentioned in quite a bit of trade talk over the last couple of years. Based upon his past performance - one would be hard pressed to expect the disaster of this season (except Das - of course). I like the idea of sending Sutton down and given one of the young guys a tatse of the majors. If they should look good they can stick. Of course, the Marlins should be (and probably already are) shopping to castro to anyone.

After reading the article it's tough to get a good read on both. Their comments can be manipulated and made to sound much worse than they were inteneded. It does sounds like they are both just displaying their competitive fire. As long as they are both okay with Jack & Rosey - all should be fine.

What's up with Josh & AJ? I was listening to both QAM and 1400thefan this morning...both mentioned - 1. that Josh was complaining about our training staff and having to go on the DL for two weeks. 2. AJ was whining about Beinfest & Samson not watching him rehab and having to pitch in NY on Thursday instead of pitching at PPS on Wednesday? Anyone else hear about this? If true - someone needs to have a conversation with these two - while their issues might have some validity - they both need a lesson in handling things internally and not speaking through the media (especially AJ). :confused

Besides, you'll get your poetic justice sometime later this year when Mr. Made-out-of-glass Griffey breaks his spine climbing out of the dugout stairs and misses another 100 games. :thumbup
