1. So it's a three team deal??? My guess - Marlins gets Lo Duca & Ishii from L.A. and Brent Mayne from Arizona. L.A. gets Finley from Arizona and Penny & Nunez from the Marlins. Arizona gets Jayson Werth from the Dodgers, and prospects (Stokes & Murphy?) from the Marlins. :whistle
2. y would the dodgers make this move? 482540 I assume Finley would be a Dodger if this deal were to go down.
3. I've said all along, much to the consternation and mocking of people here, that Penny was the whale other teams want to land not Pavano and if any of our starters were traded it would be him. Penny is everything Pavano is not. IF Brad moves on I wish him nothing but the best, I only wish the Fish could have moved him to the AL so we don't have to face in years to come. I was waiting for Baltimore or the Twins to come calling, it doesn't look like that will happen at the eleventh hour. But stranger things have happened. 482524 I agree, however if Brad is dealt I think it was the correct move. The likelyhood of resigning Pavano is far greater than Penny. Penny is essentialy replaced with Ishii - a far more affordable option. Throw in an All-star catcher and you have the makings of a solid deal.
4. dawg usually has inside info on Penny in particular.... I wonder if it's the Dodgers deal with Penny & Lo Duca involved? 482505 Good call hotcorner - we know the dawg/Penny connection - Penny and Nunez for LoDuca and Ishii? Sounds like a good deal for the Marlins. :thumbup
5. I wouldn't count on Spoonet or Fox.
6. The moron still loves to mention Matt Clement as well. He's had a major hard-on for Clement since we traded him. "Hank the Hippo"

Where's that Rune guy and his anti-jinx stuff??? :mischief2 481644 I'm right here and I've been here before you. So can I ask you where were you? 481792 Looks like you changed your sig...good move. Best of luck vs. the Cubbies. :thumbup

The Expos lineup and rotation for most of 1994 were: C: Fletcher/webster 1B: Floyd (with Milligan getting a few starts) 2B: Lansing 3B: Berry SS: Cordero LF: Alou CF: Grissom RF: Walker SP: Hill, Fassero, Henry, Martinez, Rueter There were a couple of changes just before the strike hit, though - Walker was having some injury problems that had moved him to 1B, and Fassero was having some arm problems that saw him placed on the DL a day or so before the strike. I'm not sure how long Fassero would have been out if not for the strike, but he would have been out of the rotation until late August at the earliest. So on the day of the strike, the Expos lineup/roster looked something like: C: Fletcher/Webster 1B: Walker (with Floyd and Milligan getting rare starts when Walker was rested) 2B: Lansing 3B: Berry SS: Cordero LF: White/Floyd CF: Grissom RF: Alou SP: Hill, Martinez, Henry, Rueter, and probably either Gabe White or Gil Heredia while Fassero was on the DL, though they might have called up Carlos Perez or Ugueth Urbina, who were having good years in the minors. :thumbup

11. Not sure if this is reliable or not.? But the potential 3-way deal with us Padres, and D'backs goes as such:? We recieve Akinori Otsuka, Padres recieve Steve Finely, and the prospects are still a mystery (prob Stokes). For me the deal makes no sense, unless the D'backs are really that interested in our prospects.? The Padres farm system isn't bad, bringing us in is a just complicating the issue.? But I'll take Jack trying to speak Japanese, English, Spanish, and Korean.? :lol Just for the record it came from a couple of friends in SD who were watching the local news this morning. 481107 I would do that deal in a second. Otsuka's a stud and would be a great set-up man. 481129 Me too. Otsuka would be a huge addition to the pen. If we traded Stokes in this deal, we would probably trade some young pitching for a bat - Guillen or Bautista perhaps???
12. Thanks for the comments. I'm usually about as an anti-stat guy as you can find but having read Berardino's crap last night my instincts told me he was off base and I had to go see for myself. As usual, Mike survives by twisting the truth and hoping his readers don't know better. 479575 Excellent post...as always. I hope you take the time to email your findings to Mike B. He is normally receptive to this type of stuff. I'd be interested to see his response in this particular instance. :thumbup
13. How does the auction effect Sopher's previous bid for the arena? Will the auction start at $25 million? I thought a deal was already in place for $25 million with Sopher? :mischief2 Anything less than $25 million would be detrimental to the Marlins financing plan.
14. if you can get him cheaply...why not, i guess......and he gives you another left handed bat i guess.... 478482 :thumbup
15. I'm not enthralled about the prospect of getting Finley. I get the feeling Finley is playing some sort of game. Who is he to make demands? I want a player who says - "I'll play anywhere, do anything, I just want to help the team win." I also don't like the idea that he will quickly re-sign with AZ in the off-season. I don't want to give up Stokes and Murphy for a two month malcontent. I'd much rather have Admin Walker. With a home in WPB, I think the likelihood of him sticking around for a couple of years is far greater. I'd love to see his rocket arm in right (moving Cabs back to left) and his solid lefty bat in the middle of the lineup. We would have a nice left-right-left-right combination. BTW - Did anyone see the beautiful catch Walker made last night? He looked pretty agile and in good health. :thumbup

Has anyone noticed how Howard is never vilified on the forum? He gave up two walks WHICH SCORED on a double. Then Bump came in. Hit a guy but got out of it on a fly to Conine which Conine made look harder than it was. 471681 Is he being misused also? Why don't you blame the two walks on Jack also? :whistle
17. We aren't getting Admin. 469761 Why not? Please elaborate... Thanks.
18. (And no one wants to respond to dumping Cox and Robinson and having Mordy as 3rd base coach and Lenny as Hitting Coach.) Guess there's more interest in how much Orange we will have wiping out our Teal.) 460252 No one is responding to firing Cox & Robinson and replacing them with Mordy & Harris because it is assine and does not warrant a logical response. The one piece of logical thinking in this thread was to demote Willingham (so he can catch everyday and improve his skills behind the plate) and call up Dillon to provide a spark. :whistle
19. BEAT THE METS, BEAT THE METS, Step right up and beat the Mets! Bring your kiddies, bring your wife; Guaranteed to have the time of your life because the Mets are really missin? the ball; knocking those groundouts, no hits will fall! Palm Beach, Broward, everybody?s coming down to beat the M-E-T-S Mets - those New York clowns! :thumbup
20. Kolb has no Ks so that hurts his fantasy value and it will be only a matter of time before he screws up. the guy who dumped folke picked up kolb.? I can try trading smoltz and huff for albert jujols or something...maybe someone would bite. 445166 I'd make that trade in a heartbeat... Would you trade Dunn, Overbay and Sheets for Barry Bonds??? I've got plenty of depth at first (Craig Wilson & Wilkerson) but losing one of my top starters would hurt. Any thoughts?

Hey Cheat - Any word on Maggs? Is he coming back anytime soon??? Thanks! :mischief2
24. Some dumbass dropped Foulke for no reason, but my bullpen has Joe Nathan, John Smoltz, and Trevor Hoffman. all of them are having incredible seasons...what should I do? 445055 Keep Hoffman & Nathan. Trade Smoltz. Stay away from Foulke. Pick up Kolb if he is available. :thumbup
25. I assume Penny and Burnett will start games 1 & 2 vs. the Mets. Can we also assume Dontrelle will take Beckett's spot on Sunday? Has this been announced as of yet? :mischief2
