Griffey Glare
So a little glare at a manager with some histoty is now grounds for some plunking? Its not like he flipped the marlins organization off... He rarely shows emotion and his glare at mckeon was nothing more than a message to him and probably the rest of the league. What does plunking do in this situation? I would see your point if Griffey stood at home plate well after the ball left but he didnt show up Beckett. He was respectful towards him. Why shouldnt he, he was pitching a great game. Griffey was disrespected by McKeon, so he returned the favor. I think that should be the end of it. Hardly plunk material if you ask me.

Griffey Glare
Castro read the scouting report then, Griffey is a sucker for the down and away.

Griffey Glare
Personally, I want Griffey to rip the Marlins apart and its nothing personal.

Griffey Glare
No, I think we all found out a hot Griffey mixed with a fastball right in his kitchen equals a ginormous dinger. Yea...thats probably more correct. Griffey has been pretty upset but it was based more on the media making him out to be some monster in Cincy who likes to eat cats and take candy from kids. he wasn't ripping the cover off the ball then...so it probably has more to do with Griffey just having fun now because the reds are playing as a unit for once.

Griffey Glare
Apparently, Larkin and Griffey were granted permission to leave a game earlyt o fly back home on the last game of the year when McKeon was here and McKeon didnt like that so he went public with his criticism of Griffey and Larkin. Both were highly upset because I think both were injured and were given permission. In any event, I don't think this was "showing up the marlins", I saw it as a message to McKeon not to disrespect. Griffey: .252 avg .535 SLG 37 RBI 11 HR May 04 391 OPB 667 SLG 1.058 OPS His average isnt all that great but its not like he is the pitcher batting...I could probably go back through many lineups of all the games this season and not find 1 or 2 times (besides Griffey) where someone is walked to get to a player with similiar numbers and expecially not a future HOF who appears to be back to his old ways. I can understand the move in a statistical sense (trying to get Griff to GO or SO) but from a gut stance... not the greatest move by McKeon.

Griffey Glare
It would be quite unessesary...but whatever floats his boat. Throwing at Griffey isn't wise as him angry leads to production, as we all found out. Again, it wasn't aimed at Beckett. I just think Beckett is still a little steamed about the pitch... Ahhh...drama.

Good things from tonight
I hope Dunn starts swinging at strikes again. Luckily, we have a pretty potent lineup to make up for Dunn's lack of consistent production of late.

IBB to get to a HOFer
griffey isnt exactly NOT raking the ball out of the park and all other places recently. double negative... Do you mean he is hitting it well or not?

Griffey Glare
What do you guys think of Griffey's little glare over to Jack McKeon? Personally, I thought the stare itself was pretty bad ass. Griffey has been slighted like this 3 times this year and that has to bother him being a future HOF and on the verge of reaching 500 dingers. I also have heard through Gammons (i know, I know) that Griffey and McKeon have a little history. The only person the glare was aimed at was McKeon, I believe. Not Beckett or anyone else. Beckett took offense however: ''That's [expletive],'' Beckett replied when informed of Griffey's icy stare. ``I do take offense to that. I don't [care] if he's a Hall of Famer or not. I don't think I'll forget it. I don't know what the hell he was staring at.'' I like this series and the players on both sides, I don't want it to turn into some Phillies/Marlins type of thing... One thing is for sure, McKeon won't test Griffey again. :cool Thoughts?

Anyone else get the feelin'...
Not to toot my Reds horn but Larkin is putting up a very fine season. First error was commited last night. I wouldnt put it past the media to give it to him as a last hurrah as Larkin says he "plans" to retire. Gonzalez can't be ignored right now. He's made some disgusting plays. Errors don't matter as much as people think in thr GG voting. Thome was errorless last year at 1B for the Phillies, but the award obviously went to Lee for his unmatched playmaking ability. Did you see Larkin's pickup against Royce Clayton? 40 yrs old and still a sponge in the infield...plus only 1 error. Its not always about spectacular plays, but the ability to position yourself against hitters to make for a better position. Larkin is a master. Not taking anything away from your guy of course....

John Reidling
Good, I would rather have Abe than Riedling. I think their GM is still a little pissed after we ripped them off Encarnacion for Dempster. That GM was fired last year. This GM (Dan O'Brien) is very calculating and has a slow hand. He is somewhat of a yes man where as Bowden was a rebel of sorts. It took Jimmy Haynes 4 straight starts of doggy poo to get demoted. He deserved a release but his contract is fat (2.5 m) so we had to see if he can at least come in and pitch long relief. So now we have Todd Van Poopel as our #5. Trust me, Riedling is going no where unless FL gives up the goods. In 14 games (15 ip), Riedling has a 0.60 ERA, 3 BB and 13 SO. He may not have a big name, but this guy is lights out.

Abraham Nunez for reliever John Riedling?
Hey, we will even toss in Romano

Abraham Nunez for reliever John Riedling?
I dont want Cordero...If we have to give up our best reliever out of the pen (even better than Graves in my opinion), then I want the best in return that will help our future.

Eric Gagne
Im saddened that Danny "hemorrage" Graves isnt on the list. He is leading the majors with 11 saves... Im only midly being sarcastic...

What ever happened to Wily Mo Pena? Poor guy just wants playing time. Mo Po cant hit a curve ball if he had an ironing board.

Get em tomorrow
Keep your chin up guys, you could lose the way the Reds do by giving up just enough runs no matter what the lead (9, we beat you) to lose... lol

Fish still looking at Reds' Reidling
If we hit a stretch where the bullpen is losing several games in a row for you then you might look to pull the trigger, but that hasn't happened yet. Lucky you.... :lol I feel for ya Smitty by the way, Larson blew the game the other night, not Graves Yea yea yea.... Graves aint good enough to be successful when 4 outs are needed.... Gagne, Smoltz, Benitez yes... Graves??? Fools gold.... Blech. 10 Saves? Yea, but look deeper into those stats and a really ugly blister exposes its head and I just hope other GMs dont see it when we try to get rid of him and his atrocious contract.

best park in National League?
I picked Great American because I have only been to two and the 1st one was demolished due to Great American

Fish still looking at Reds' Reidling
We need another outfield like we need a gun shot in the crotch...we NEED Reidling as our Bullpen is in bad shape. If this trade goes down, I will be one upset Reds fan and it has nothing to do with Nunez...everything to do with the Reds FO. Did anyone SEE that Reds 9-0 lead evaporate thanks to our BP???
