  1. Bout fucking time.... Holly was Horrible.
  2. TO add.... I was also 11. Mike Piazza was here 5 games. 1998 is probably what got me facinated with free agent moves, trades and transactions in all sports. Basketballs offseason is fun as hell.
  3. IDK 2021 is really, really bad..... Sincerely, Tim Kurkjian
  4. Believe me when I tell you, I really enjoyed 1998 and seeing the moves. 1997 was the appetizer, 1998 was the main course that gave me diareah just before 2003's dessert. Remember in 1998 we had Livan, Dempster, Mantei (who became Penny), Alfonseca and in the lineup- Kotsay, Floyd, Renteria, Counsell, Not to mention looks at Derek Lee, Alex Gonzalez, Luis Castillo, Preston Wilson, Josh Booty, Kevin Millar, Mike Redmond. That 1998 team was memorable, and really was a joy to watch- even if they got their teeth kicked in and the circumstances changed from 97 to 98.
  5. To add to that, he was super critical of the front office and their requirements for players to interact with fans and charity events. Supposedly the final straw was him convincing Christian Yelich not to attend a event at an elementary school and to dictate when he was available. They didn't want Baker ruining what kind of person, teammate and major leaguer he would eventually become... as they thought very highly of Yelich.
  6. 1998 was a good season and offseason, by comparision to what 2012 and 2018 have been. I would count 1998 among our 5 best, and let it be the imposter among the best. Best in no order other than chronological, 1996 (building), 997 (WS), 1998 (Rebuild), 2003 (Successful Rebuild / WS), 2006 (Rookies/Hopes), 2013 (Jofer), 2017 (Stanton MVP). 2020 may barely make the cut because of the optimism out of covid but if you cut down to 5, the above are the ones to trim from.
  7. This could be us, but your playin'
  8. Off the top of my head. CJ Piazza Yarnell , Preston Wilson Yarnell for Lowell , Preston Wilson for Juan Pierre Juan Pierre for Ricky Nolasco , Sergio Mitre, Reynel Pinto Mike Lowell for Hanley Ramirez and Anibal Sanchez Hanley for Nathan Evoldi and Anibal for Rob Brantly and Jacob Turner Evoldi for Phelps / Martin Prado Phelps for Pablo Lopez
  9. I remain steadfast in my belief the Mike Piazza, Todd Zeile / CJ, Sheff , Bonilla, Eisenrich, Barrios trade was the most significant trade in Marlins history and that the absolute worst trade is the Cabrera trade. Research the Trade tree from the Piazza deal / CJ Draft selection and you'll see that it had the biggest impact on two world series championships, playoff runs and franchise leaders. If I remember correctly, there are still players on the current day roster that transactions can be traced back to the Piazza trade.
  10. I'm suggesting it right now until the end of the season to get him AB's and see what he has. If he's capable enough and surprised with the bat and glove enough.... keep him one more year as a Utility C/1b/3b/OF/DH and pray he finally brings something to the table. If he can't hit for shit and can't play any other position for shit- he's useless. Send him to the MCL and call it a day (Major Crickett League). I hope no one here played Cricket for Jamaica in the 90's.
  11. Play him at 3rd because even if he doesn't get to the ball, someone will be behind him anyway to scoop it up and throw it to the infield. 3B is incredibly hard to play, but also has very low expectations. How many times will he have to field a ball at 3rd a game, how many times will he have to hold the runner on the bag. His arm is good enough to get it to first with speed. Lets hope he catches it.
  12. I don't believe he has any trade value. You trade him for a PTBNL or a Single A minor leaguer and be grateful you got him off your books.
  13. Hard to give him AB when he's not starting. Can't start him because he'll wreck the development of the pitching staff. Can't put him in the OF because he sucks. Put him at 3B or 1B and see what happens. If he develops any semblance of a glove at those positions and a bat you keep him as a DH/ Poor Utility next season. If he can't do anything... you let him go and live with the fact another team signs him for a Major League Minimum and he hits .250 with pop.
  14. Wanna hit us with a #Waittosee? I recognize that argument anywhere and I agree with it. You should listen to DS's Nothing Personal Podcast.
  15. NVM... It was this cringe post:

I've been here 15 years....fml. What about the rest of you guys. Do you remember your first day? I think we were in the NL Wildcard race in 06 and Jumpin' Joe Girardi blew out Josh Johnson's elbow.

  18. Crazy spicy skillet with no mushrooms, or Vegan Beyond Meat Burger with Pepperjack cheese, fajita veggies, bbq sauce and bacon. I shit you not, both are absolutely delicious.
  19. I remember Piazza getting called for one back in 2000(?) and Bobby V coming back with a fake mustache.
  20. Don't know whether to like or laugh react....
  21. Same here, I'm rooting for him because guys who want to stay in Miami long term are in short supply. Hopefully he can turn it around. I'd love to see him become a Juan Encarnacion type OF. He has the tools, hes just never put it together. Maybe the issue is he's close to home and he has too many outside factors messing w his head, like ticket requests and friends and family coming out the woodwork.
  22. You know, that's not a terrible list. You'd expect guys like Mike Deveraux, Tony Tarasco, and Raimel Tapia.
  23. Any chance we can maybe figure out a night where we all meet up in person and have a good laugh? Its been 20 fuckin years, I think its time we yell at each other in person about statistics, salaries, the PROCESS **** come at me bro**** and how Jeter sucks.
