  1. Sweeney took Badenhop Deep.....2-1 LA. First runs surrendered by BHop this spring It had to end sometime.
  2. I think it might be safe to say that he's a new pitcher now that he can see the plate I was thinking the same exact thing! Hopefully it's a totally different ballgame for him this year. He could end up being a great signing.
  3. Great outing for Mark. Now let's get some more runs!
  4. Looks like Mark Hendrickson is locking down that opening day start nod. He is pitching great, eight groundouts to two flyouts. Add on that a couple of strikeouts and just one walk.
  5. I made a visit to the MLB section on espn.com and on the top right I noticed a bolded headline "School of Fish." Well, they have a couple articles about our young prospects. The first is a long piece by Jerrsy Crasnick about both Miller and Maybin. The second is part of a series "30 Questions" and asks, "What to make of Maybin's spring?" Both are pretty good reads.
  6. Good first inning for Hendrickson, two groundouts and a strikeout.
  7. Opening Day Lineup SS: Hanley Ramirez 2B: Dan Uggla 3B: Jeremy Hermida LF: Josh Willingham 1B: Mike Jacobs 3B: Jorge Cantu CF: Cameron Maybin C: Matt Treanor P: Mark Hendrickson Bench OF/1B: Luis Gonzalez OF: Cody Ross/Brett Carroll* (this spot stil up for grabs) IN/OF: Alfredo Amezaga IN: Jose Castillo C: Mike Rabelo Starting Rotation Mark Hendrickson Andrew Miller Rick Vandenhurk Scott Olsen Chris Volstad* (will be called up when fifth starter is needed) Bullpen Kevin Gregg (CL) Matt Lindstrom Logan Kensing Taylor Tankersly Renyel Pinto Justin Miller Lee Gardner Ricky Nolasco* (for long relief until a fifth starter is brought up)
  8. This is tough, I've been thinking about it for several days now and keep switching my mine on who should be the opening day starter and the other 3/4. As of right now, here are my thoughts. Scott Olsen Mark Hendrickson Rick Vandenhurk Andrew Miller Chris Volstad If Scott Olsen isn't ready for opening day then I would slide him back to #4 (any news on him, by the way?). I would let Volstad start a game at Carolina or Albuquerque before coming up as the 5th starter. Until that time, the Marlins should carry an extra reliever.
  9. This MUST end up being Jeff Conine!!! There's already a Jeff Conine bobblehead. It would be better if it was a player that didn't have one. Good point. I guess a Migueal Cabrera would be pretty sweet. A bobblehead of Renteria getting the Game 7 winning RBI single would be pretty hot too.
  10. This MUST end up being Jeff Conine!!!
  11. Is this kind of hunting illegal wherever he is doing it? If not, then what's the problem. They need to picket the government and make it a law and not waste their time on a relative no-name baseball pitcher.
  12. Plus there is already a team in our division with the colors of orange and blue. If we use orange it should be with the black and silver.
  13. Egh, I don't mind using more orange, but it shouldn't be one of the primary colors. And if we change to blue and orange I will hurt someone.
  14. It will probably be up when they finish the architectural designs. That way they will have some up to date drawings and models of how it will look. If we had a section now, all it would say is, "The Marlins are building a new stadium."
  15. The reason I ask is because I would think it would really hurt merchandise sales if people knew that it would be out of date in a couple years. I don't want to buy a brand new hat with an F on it only to know that the next year it would be an M. I think they should probably jump the gun and do it next year.
  16. Assuming the stadium deal fnishes and they break ground in June or July on the new ballpark, would we wait until our first year in the new park (2011 or possibly 2012) to rename ourselves the Miami Marlins, or would we get a head start and plan the name and logo change for 2009 or 2010?
  17. If you could create a team for this year's MLB season and could select any players, what would be your opening day lineup? Here is mine. CF - Grady Sizemore SS - Hanley Ramirez 3B - Miguel Cabrera 1B - Prince Fielder LF - Manny Ramirez RF - Vladimir Guerrero 2B - Chase Utley C - Victor Martinez P - Johann Santana
  18. Am I the only one that thinks Hanley should hit 2nd? It seems like the argument is always should he be lead off or third, but how come nobody ever mentions the two spot? I know it would shift some other things, namely that Hermida is likely the best fit at the two spot. But what would people think of something like this? C. Maybin H. Ramirez J. Hermida J. Willingham D. Uggla M. Jacobs 3B C P I think it allows him to use some of his skills of getting on base while providing a slightly better opportunity to drive in runs. It seems like the best of both worlds.
  19. Is it just normal classical music? If so, I know a lot, but don't own the DVD. If someone can post maybe a minute of it on youtube or something I might be able to help out.
  20. The LoDuca stuff looks bad...and makes it out like the LA Dodgers knew he used steriods, and that he went on it again after his trade to the Marlins (then signed 3 year deal). According to the notes of an internal discussion among Los Angeles Dodgers officials in October 2003 that were referred to above, it was reportedly said of Lo Duca during the meetings: Steroids aren’t being used anymore on him. Big part of this. Might have some value to trade . . . Florida might have interest. . . . Got off the steroids . . . Took away a lot of hard line drives. . . . Can get comparable value back would consider trading. . . . If you do trade him, will get back on the stuff and try to show you he can have a good year. That’s his makeup. Comes to play. Last year of contract, playing for 05 On June 26, 2004, Lo Duca wrote a check to Radomski for $3,200. On July 30, 2004, the Dodgers traded Lo Duca, Guillermo Mota, and Juan Encarnacion to the Marlins.420 On August 7, 2004, Lo Duca issued another check to Radomski for $3,200. In January 2005, Lo Duca signed a three-year contract with the Marlins. That's word for word from the report.
  21. I'm just skimming through it and there is a page or so about in 2000 our pitcher Ricky Bones was found with steroids and syringes. Also in the back they have copies of checks and orders from players and there are a couple checks from Paul Lo Duca from the year 2004.
  22. Hey, don't worry Cubs fans, Carlos Zambrano is starting Game 4, LOL, LMFAO!!!
  23. in mlb.com It's funny how they act!
  24. If we can't fight for the playoffs the next best thing is to ruin the hopes of the Phillies. Hopefully we can win this series and do the same against the Cubs in the final week.
