Can someone please explain this line to me?
I'm sure there's any of a number of douchebags, both that matter (Sarnoff, et al.) and that don't matter (Norm Braman), that would love to see the bonds fall through.

Orlando to Fort Lauderdale
Plenty of change is an understatement. Try $15. The total cost for the Turnpike is $14.70, but it's a smooth trip. Really? It's that much, nowadays... wow. I ought to check my SunPass account more often. It's less for SunPass. The same trip if you have SunPass is $11.65.

Obama Plans to Charge Wounded Heroes for Treatment
Here's how it can be interpreted: He wants universal healthcare, unless you're a soldier.

Historic Agreement Between Marlins, Miami's African-American Commu
http://www.miamiherald.com/news/breaking-n...ory/953021.html The lawyer might have a point. The legality of this needs to be seriously looked at. Didn't stop the Orlando Magic from signing such agreements to get their new arena built.

Watchmen
Ok I'm new to this universe and I have a question. Why is it called watchmen? I always though it's because these were superheroes that watched the city. After seeing the trailer, there are a lot of refference to clocks and gears if clocks. I know this might just be a pun, but does watchmen have anything to do with... watches? The term "Who Watches the Watchmen?" which is a loose adaptation of a Latin phrase, Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? In the anti-adventurer riots of the mid-1970s in the Watchmen universe, it's common graffiti. And Jon Osterman trained to be a watchmaker like his father before his father gave up the trade in the face of nuclear physics. That led to him becoming Doctor Manhattan. And the bloodstain on The Comedian's smiley face button is common imagery. It appears to mirror the setting of the Doomsday Clock at the beginning of the story, at 5 minutes before Midnight. Hence, like a stuck watch.

Orlando to Fort Lauderdale
ugh ........ other sports does not equal outfield............ must sleep now Moved. As for routes, I think the easiest and fastest route would be to take the Florida Turnpike (aka Ronald Reagan Turnpike) south all the way to the Interstate 595 (east) exit, which will take you straight to the Port. Mind you, the Turnpike is a Toll Road so carry plenty of change for the trip. An alternative would be to take the Beachline Expressway (SR 528) east to Interstate 95 south. It takes close to an hour longer, but it's toll-free and there are far more places to stop for air / gas / food. Plenty of change is an understatement. Try $15. The total cost for the Turnpike is $14.70, but it's a smooth trip. And time is of the essence. You want to get there early. Boarding usually starts between Noon and 1pm, at least it does for Royal Caribbean. The earlier you get there, the sooner you can begin pre-boarding check-in at the dock. Regardless of which you use, you'll want to ultimately get off at I-595 East, and follow the signs to Port Everglades. BTW: Why couldn't you put out of Port Canaveral if you were stopping in Orlando? :mischief

Watchmen
modern American fiction eh? Moore and Gibbons are both English. I don't know about Gibbons, but Moore is from Northampton. The confusion is common since it was published by an American company (DC).

Watchmen
It was pretty damn good. Far closer to the comic than I expected it to be. I loved the plot twist at the end, but I'm still a bit perturbed by what they did after it. Won't go into details beyond that. But otherwise, it was good. Just don't take young children to see it. :mischief

Miami commissioner wants 'fair share' for stadium vote
Forgive my language, but Jesus Christ, this b**** is pulling a Marc Sarnoff. Bringing up issues last-second.

Get Ready for World Government - Ron Paul in Glenn Beck
World government, in and of itself, is not a bad thing, and in fact should be striven for. One economy, one set of global laws, maybe even a primary (but not singular) lingua franca. The major problem is that people tend to connect world government with one of two things: Communism, or the Apocalypse. I myself believe that it does not have to be either way.

The quest for the stadium gets more interesting
The "suffering taxpayers" aren't even paying for this unless they use Miami-Dade hotels. Try "suffering tourists". And I thought it was Sarnoff that had designs on running for Mayor.

Obama trying to take over the census
Even worse, the decrease in union membership since the Reagan years has happened at the same time as falling or stagnating wages. But I'm sure it's a coincidence. The minimum wage has also doubled since Reagan left office ($3.35 when he left office, $6.65 now with another increase coming), and yet, as you say, overall wages have stagnated. Is that coincidence too? Actually, taking into account inflation since 1988, in real terms the minimum wage now is the same as it was at the end of Reagan's tenure. So, that's a very bad example. It's also a bad example because you're picking the bottom of the wage ladder - FGM was referring to the average or the median wage. Therefore, your example is almost irrelevant. Perhaps minimum wage increases themselves are irrelevant. Every time it's jacked up, the value of the dollar always falls to compensate. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:History_...e_increases.svg

Obama breaks first promise
That they call the lobbyist promise "compromise" instead of "broken" is a farce.

So Much for Transparency
Clearly this can't be biased reporting, I mean, Human Events' website subtitle is 'Headquarters of the Conservative Underground' after all...    And you go and call Media Matters partisan? Alright.... It's being reported everywhere. Saying this is "right bias" is a red herring. The fact is, very few people actually read this bill before it was passed. Most of the people who voted for it don't even know what's in it. As for the Patriot Act, virtually everybody voted on it. Not quite the same thing.

Third Cabinet person out
Well, to be frank, he is the President. He is going to get more say in things. Congress sure listened to his requests for a bipartisan stimulus package. What's sad about Gregg withdrawing is that a liberal friend of mine immediately said, "I wonder what he's hiding..."

Should MLB Release the Other 103 Positive Test Names?
Yes If they release ARod's name...release the other 103. And treat the other 103 the same way. Enough with the double standard bulls***. C'mon...treat them the same way you would a great ballplayer. This. Then fire Donald Fehr and Gene Orza as inept union managers.

Making sense of what happened on Friday the 13th
He was wrong to bring it up the day of. He had two weeks since the city released the design schematics. He had several months during Braman's lawsuit. He had a full year since the working agreements were adopted. And also there was absolutely no sense trying to drop a tax on Loria if he sold the team, or if the team sold in the event of his death, on the day of. It was unnecessary with the no-relocation clause in place. Emphasis on WAS, since it's now back on the table no thanks to that jackass. Actually, the "Sales Kicker" clause where the city and county would receive a portion of the proceeds if he team were to be sold, already is in the agreement. I believe Sarnoff just wants a bigger piece of the (potential) pie. And to look good. The way Sarnoff was speaking, he wanted every cent of profit from a potential sale.

Some good stadium news from FishStripes
Craig, the proprietor of FishStripes, the Marlins blog at SBNation, has received a letter from Dr. Ronald Cox, the associate professor at the Department of Politics, FIU. It has some good hopeful news in it. 1) Sarnoff was mostly disingenuous about his claims of only learning about details of the agreement the previous night, and is clearly posturing for a potential Mayoral race against Joe Sanchez. 2) A conference call was not arranged with Spence-Jones because they were convinced her vote wasn't needed. She is still in favor of the stadium agreement as currently written (contrary to rumors on this site), and they aren't going to bother re-negotiating...they will just reconvene on March 12, with Spence-Jones in attendance, and vote for the current agreement. 3) Some potentially really good news: the public bidding waiver that requires the county supermajority will be voted on separately. If it passes, this will let the construction agreements be passed with a simple majority, leaving any questions on votes irrelevant.
