A's offically done in Oakland
The BART is a piece of crap. But whatever, I agree that it's really not that big of a deal. Has it declined that bad in 10 years? I went to San Fran in 1997, and I thought BART was the best thing since sliced bread. If you didn't mind dodging homeless people in the downtown stations. Now MUNI... THAT was a piece of crap.

The 2007 World Series: Rockies VS. Red Sox
You know, I never realized until this morning, when looking at the Rockies article on Wikipedia, that Mickey Monus, the disgraced owner of Phar-Mor, was the original co-owner of the Rockies. And I found out right before I found this article on ESPN about him.

NFL Week 8 Discussion
Pretty funny....we're having a London writer on our show right now and he says the Dolphins are the #1 team there....he says it will seem like a Miami home game. What do you expect? Their "football" involves a round ball and nets. And according to Jim Rome it involves orange slices, Capri Sun and minivans as well. I kid. Their "football" actually enjoys a ball used with the foot outside of a field goal kicker :thumbup Actually I was trying to bait whoever does that fake "Jim Rome" account into agreeing, just because it sounds funny.

I dont think this is a big deal. Its the equivalent of the panthers moving from downtown miami to sunrise (mile wise). If they add a train to go to this stadium, it shouldnt be a problem at all for fans. That's not altogether out of the question. BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) is planning an extension to the Green/Orange line currently ending in downtown Fremont that could put the trains much closer to the proposed "Cisco Field". "Cisco Field" is currently planned for the corner of Grimmer Blvd. and Auto Mall Parkway, not far from the huge NUMMI car plant where they build the Toyota Corolla and Tacoma.

NFL Week 8 Discussion
Jake Delhomme is out for the season. I just noticed that, actually. I forgot about the Tommy John surgery. I'll fix that part. Stop locking threads. I don't see the point of keeping threads for multiple weeks of football open, but that's just my own opinion. I'll reopen last week's threads and keep hands-off these. "Oh, the humanity of it all!" - Ren H?ek, The Ren and Stimpy Show episode "Mad Dog H?ek". Maybe Not-Peyton Manning will s*** the bed in front of nearly 100,000 Anglo-Saxons and the Dolphins will scrape together a victory. EDIT! Edit what? I was calling Eli "Not-Peyton".

NFL Week 8 Discussion
"Oh, the humanity of it all!" - Ren H?ek, The Ren and Stimpy Show episode "Mad Dog H?ek". It's the London special this weekend, as the Miami Dolphins "host" the New York Football Giants at New Wembley Stadium. Maybe Not-Peyton Manning will s*** the bed in front of nearly 100,000 Anglo-Saxons and the Dolphins will scrape together a victory. Jacksonville limps to Tampa Bay, possibly without David Garrard. Some were indicting our getting rid of Byron Leftwich. Considering he's also injured in Atlanta, that's not entirely fair. Still, I think this one is a gimme for the Bucs all things considered. (IMHO, though, I think the shot on Garrard was cheap, and I'm not the only one.) In the Undefeated Watch, Indy goes to Carolina, where Jake Delhomme David Carr and Vinny Testaverde are hoping they doesn't get chop-blocked too by the Colts D (yeah, I forgot about the TJ surgery for Jake); while the Pats host the Redskins, who haven't allowed many points this year. Some are saying that the Pats haven't faced anybody good yet. Tell that to the 6-1 Cowboys. MNF is Green Bay at Denver. The Broncos have allowed a ton of points. The Packers have scored a lot of points. Brett Favre's stat-padding tour continues.

Official Wrestling Discussion
Sting is really the last big name (read: from the Monday Night War Era) out there that WWE can grab and get some dream matches out of. I'd love to see it. He's also the only one that's never wanted anything to do with WWE. He turned down a WWE contract offer before returning to TNA. BTW: On Candice Michelle according to Wrestling Observer: Cracked clavicle, possible concussion. Out 4-6 weeks. Supposedly, Beth was going to win anyway.

Bill Maher Kicks Out 9/11 'Truthers'
You can tell the truth, Fox. They were conspiracy theorists.

10 years ago today
Trevor Hoffman was never our closer. He was only here for half of his rookie season, and wasn't our closer per se. He only had 3 SVO, and converted two of them. BTW: On this day 10 years ago (10/23), the Marlins beat the Indians in Cleveland, 8-7, on a very cold night (the previous night was the coldest WS game ever played, 38?F at gametime with a 15?F wind chill--it was 46? tonight) to take a 3-2 series lead back to Miami. Livan and Co. tried to cough it up in the 9th, but Robb Nen stopped the bleeding and willed the team to victory. Moises Alou hit a three-run homer in the 6th. Sandy Alomar, Jr., had one for the Tribe.

Bobby Jindal wins Louisiana Governor's Race
At only 36, he's won two Congressional elections and now election as Governor. (Interesting note: Ray Nagin actually endorsed Jindal in 2003.) If he does good, he could yet have higher political heights to attain.

2003 Postseason on DVD?
I downloaded Game 6 of the NLCS in addition to Game 6 of the 2003 World Series from MLB.com back in '03. They still offer the latter here: http://mlb.mlb.com/downloads/catalog.jsp?m=classics I'm sure MLB.com still offers those playoff games from 2003. I'll dig around and let you know what I find. ETA: I believe the above download is only playable on your computer. MLB.com has a new download service to replace the original Digital Download Service: http://www.mlb.com/downloads/ Most of the classic games are also on iTunes now. They pretty much look the same, but the iTunes ones can be put on your iPod, where they look infinitely more awesome. If you just want to watch them on your computer, use the MLB.com/downloads. If you'd like to take them with you on your iPod or you have a Mac, use iTunes.

College Football Discussion Week 9
1) Im not sure you watched the game because FSU wasnt beat down by Miami, FSU was beat down by FSU. FSU would have found a way to lose to Northwestern or Syracuse yesterday. No, I didn't. But by your description, it's all the more reason they should be practicing. 2) At the wings of Miami? Modification of "at the hands". Think about it. :mischief

Best game of the week might be Boston College v. Virginia Tech on Thursday night. Good chance for Boston College to prove they should be #1.

Snow in Coors
I was talking to my pops the other night and there is a pretty good chance of snow apparently for the games coming up. It shouldn't affect whether the games are played or not but it could be damn cold for the players and fans. Actually, according the Weather Underground, Saturday and Sunday at least will be near-normal--low 60s for highs, low-to-mid 30s for lows, and partly cloudy. Of course that could change, but that's what it looks like. http://www.wunderground.com/US/CO/Denver/KDEN.html For Boston, rain should be ending Wednesday afternoon giving way to cooler temps... low 40s late Wednesday and Thursday, mid 50s for the high on Thursday. http://www.wunderground.com/US/MA/Boston/KBOS.html

A-Rod / Marlins Rumor Talk
If we get A-Rod then the Yankees would most likely go hard after Cabrera. I'd rather have Cabs. You'd rather have Cabrera than A Rod? Thats....interesting Cabrera is much younger than A-Rod and he doesn't become a little girl when he's in the playoffs. A-Rod didn't become a little girl in the playoffs in his first years in Seattle, either.

College Football Discussion Week 8
3. Colorado State 0-6 ("Good Times Bad Times") 5. Nebraska 4-3 ("Dazed And Confused") Despite the fact that this list is fairly arbitrary, it does my heart good to see both CSU and Nebraska in the "Bottom Ten" I remember when CSU was actually good, and the Colorado-CSU rivalry meant something.

NFL Week 7 Discussion
Back to something with at least the illusion of being serious... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3068080 Kevin Everett has been "deeply humbled" by everyone's support and concern over his neck injury, and is determined to make a full recovery. Continuing one of the great sports stories of the year.

The 2007 ALCS: Indians VS. Red Sox
Well, I will be watching from an onboard bar on a Carnival cruise ship. Leaving this afternoon. I'll try to poke my head in once in a while.
