  1. I asked Joe Maddon and B.J. Upton what they thought of the possibility of a second wild card back on Sept. 6, when they were still being counted out of the AL Wild Card. Maddon, of course, loves the idea: "I've talked about that. In a way it's a good idea. It's always going to be a good idea if you're a Ray. Playing in the division that we do, in the circumstances that we do, I think a second wild card would definitely help us. But I also believe that it's going to keep more communities and teams involved in the course of a season, which is always good for baseball, I believe. And I believe it could be done without saturating the playoff situation, so I think it's a good idea." Upton, meanwhile, wasn't as insightful: "I think it could be [good for baseball]. There's a couple teams out there that are going to finish with some pretty good records that might not get in the playoffs. So I don't know. Whatever happens, we're OK with it." One wild card worked out for them in the end.
  2. Anyone considered a much more affordable backup plan for a LHP in the rotation? I'm talking about a Mr. Dontrelle Willis, who didn't necessarily have the wins to show it this year, but made some positive strides. Marlins fans still adore him, and he is very affordable given his struggles since departing with the Fish. Just an option if others fall through. Also, on the topic at hand, CJ Wilson loves surfing, so the beaches could be a selling point for him.
  3. But first I'll test out that thing you guys were helping me with yesterday. Sorry to break up the sausage fest. http://s1219.photobucket.com/albums/dd431/janisjimi27/?action=view&current=TROP.jpg
  4. This got weird real fast, as the lone female why don't I just leave you all in here to...admire each other....
  5. http:// Hosting a karaoke show at a bar in PA, smiling because the Phillies are losing a playoff game I LOOOOOOOOOVE karaoke
  6. I'll believe it when I see him signing while wearing one of the Miami jerseys.
  7. Joe Capozzi just Tweeted: "#Marlins met with Mark Buehrle agent today. Don't b shocked if they get him
  8. PS dudes, I am not the most computer-literate person out there and can't seem to figure out how to post larger pictures. They *have* to be from URLs and not documents -- except for the profile pic. What gives? I'm probably just really stupid.
  9. I'm on pins and needles waiting for UF-Ohio State. Second game of the season and the first big test for the Gators. I loved how they played in the first half on Friday in their cupcake game opener, but they were on their way to dropping 100-plus and kind of crapped out in the second half. I wonder how newcomers Bradley Beal and Mike Roasario, who had monster debuts, will respond to the hostile environment -- and a real opponent.
  10. James Shields was an absolute warrior, throwing 11 COMPLETE GAMES, four of them SHUTOUTS. He also pitched nearly 250 innings and had 225 strikeouts. Run support can be a bitch.
  11. James Shields didn't win it? HE WAS ROBBED!!11!!1!! Third Place James or Mr. Congeniality
  12. Justin Verlander. OMG stop the presses what a shocker.
  13. He was doing baseball clinics with kids in Europe. Already a great role model. Yeah, I just wish baseball was as popular here in the United Kingdom as it is everywhere else in the world. Btw @PurpleHaze, Im from Sarasota, havent been there for a while, how is Siesta Key? traffic getting busy I bet right about now with all the snow birds. Siesta was voted the No. 1 beach in the USA. I haven't been to the beach during the day in a few months, but I went to the Siesta strip on a Saturday night about a month ago and it was CRAZAYYY. I also currently live in Dick Vitale's neighborhood and sat near him at breakfast last week. He gave me some free signed books and I even got a few pics! He Tweeted one himself, ha!
  14. After playing a nationally televised primetime game at their new home on April 4, the Marlins will no longer have a travel day on April 5. Instead they will play a DAY GAME AFTER A NIGHT GAME at 4:10 p.m. in Cincinnati. Yeah, that sounds like a great way to start a 162-game season.
  15. He was doing baseball clinics with kids in Europe. Already a great role model.
  16. Sorry if this was already mentioned, but I just read this as it was posted on marlins.com recently. According to Ken Rosenthal (and Joe Frisaro), the Marlins offered Jose Reyes a six-year, $90 million contract during his visit. He is 28 years old.
  17. The never sold any Florida Marlins gear in Sarasota malls. I know it's Tampa Bay territory, but it's still in Florida and they always have hats and jerseys for teams in other states. I wonder if they will start selling Miami Marlins gear here. Not that I'm going to by it...just want to see it up close for myself.
  18. Good ole UCF dorms. Hah. But yeah, not what I expected on dim. Now I'm gonna see if I can spot him on campus. Well, I'm on the Hercules soccer fields at 4 Mon/Wed/Fri... And what do you mean "not what I expected"? hmm... I thought you were a girl. No but seriously... if there's no name to a face I generally make a name to a face. Rab for the longest time looked like Pirate Mitre to me. Turns out it wasn't too far off. I'm doing IM soccer :lol Me too, haha! And apparently he thought I was a dude. I love it.
  19. The mofo was bailed out for just $100K, and -- get this -- the judge who set the bail is a Second Mile volunteer. Can't make this up. Courtesy of Beaver County Times: The Centre County district judge who freed former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky on bond after his Nov. 5 arrest is a supporter and volunteer of Second Mile, the children's charity Sandusky founded. Judge Leslie Dutchcot set a $100,000 unsecured bond for Sandusky after he was arrested on charges he sexually abused eight boys while a leader of Second Mile; prosecutors had asked for a $500,000 bond. Because the bond set by Dutchcot was unsecured, Sandusky was freed following his arraignment hearing Nov. 5. He won't be responsible for posting the bond unless he fails to appear at future hearings.
  20. This needs to happen already, the suspense is killing me ME TOOOOOOO
  21. Sandusky is not only a free pedophile, but he's flying in public airports: http://www.tmz.com/2011/11/14/jerry-sandusky-laguardia-airport-dunkin-donuts/#.TsGWkmC4I00 Hide ya kids, hide ya kids, HIDE YA KIDS.
  22. GREED GREED GREED
  23. Both were well deserved.
  24. Look, Hanley said he'd be willing to move for Reyes and they are very good friends. I don't see Hanley becoming an ultra bitch over this if we do indeed get Reyes. I would like to say I believe him, but he also said he was going to be a "Leader" on and off the field this past year, and it ended up not happening. His track record is iffy at best. I say get rid of his attitude before he starts to whine & bitch. WHAT?! His ARM WAS POPPING OUT OF ITS SOCKET WHEN HE WAS SLEEPING. His back was in so much pain he couldnt sit during flights. He played as long as he could and the marlins didnt start losing until he went to the dl. He signed a very friendly contract with the marlins. Hanley is the definition of a team player imo. Track record is iffy? ARE YOU SENIAL? Go look at his career stats. FFS i dont know where some people come up with the hanley isnt good/not a team player/whiner stuff. Actually they started losing when JJ went down and after the home plate collision between Scott Cousins and Buster Posey. That was at the end of May. Then June began and everything went to hell. Hanley was ineffective from the start anyway.
