November 4, 201114 yr I think he will need his own thread. I know there hasn't been anything but pure speculation by us (for the most part) but I have to think he may end up being the Marlins #1 offseason target. Since Pujols and Fielder will probably be priced above our range and with Wilson possibly staying with Texas (or getting way too much money elsewhere).. Buehrle just makes too much sense.. a lefty SP who can give us 200 IP fills a huge need. Considering he will only command a 3 year deal, I'd overpay for him since he fills that need. A 3/30 contract would be ideal but I'd hope the fish would go higher for his services, if need be. Sign him and beg Javy to come back and we have a pretty formidable rotation for next season. The thing working against us is his midwest connection as the Cubs, Sox and Cards are thought to be his favorites. What think you?
November 4, 201114 yr I'm starting to prefer signing Edwin Jackson over Buehrle, but I won't complain either way.
November 4, 201114 yr If we could get Javy back, that'd be huge for us. If we add Javy and then go out and get another FA pitcher, the rotation looks very good.
November 4, 201114 yr I might be more interested in Buehrle than Wilson right now. Buehrle has 11 straight seasons of 200 IP and has been pretty solid. He might also come at a more reasonable price compared to Wilson.
November 4, 201114 yr :o that's a full season's worth of decisions. Imagine if he could do that for us.
November 4, 201114 yr I'm starting to prefer signing Edwin Jackson over Buehrle, but I won't complain either way. I'm on Team Buehrle. He's been super consistent for a while now, and consistently solid/good.
November 4, 201114 yr I'm terrified of players who have one or two good seasons then get to the FA market, like Edwin Jackson.
November 4, 201114 yr i want javy back along with buehrle and then trade ricky and volstad to free up another 11.5 million for next year and maybe we can get that bat (fielder) we need. then trade gaby and someone else for a starter.
November 4, 201114 yr If Javy decides to not retire (big if there), I think our chances of signing him are still slim just because of his history with Ozzie. If he looks at things geographically, then maybe Tampa or Atlanta sign him?? 2 teams fairly close to his home and are contenders.

I heard something about that on Intentional Talk the other day, Javy and Ozzie didn't see eye to eye and was glad to not be pitching for him anymore.
November 4, 201114 yr So the Rotasion would be JJ Javy Edwin Jackson Buehrle Nolasco not in that order but a good rotasion
November 4, 201114 yr Author So the Rotasion would be JJ Javy Edwin Jackson Buehrle Nolasco not in that order but a good rotasion um... anibal? Fish aren't adding 3 to the rotation unless the 3rd is Zambrano on the very cheap with Nolasco leaving.
November 4, 201114 yr I just heard that the braves are interested in tradeing Jurrjens to free up money to inprove there offense do we have anything to trade to get jurrjens and is he worth tradein for
November 4, 201114 yr So the Rotasion would be JJ Javy Edwin Jackson Buehrle Nolasco not in that order but a good rotasion enough with the edwin jackson!! lol he consistently has a whip of over 1.50.
November 4, 201114 yr The Ozzie-Javy thing is way overblown No it's not. As I said before any of this was ever reported this offseason, Ozzie doesn't like Javy Vazquez. He thinks he's a p***y.
November 4, 201114 yr yeah i'm not interested in Edwin Jackson coming here...throws hard but that's about it..very overrated in my opinion. he's being listed near the top of the heap because the FA pitching market for starters is kinda thin on quality this year
November 4, 201114 yr Edwin Jackson has been good for 3 consecutive years now. It's not as if he sucks. He's not the same guy who came into the league as a top prospect and couldn't throw strikes for the Devil Rays.
November 4, 201114 yr Author The Ozzie-Javy thing is way overblown No it's not. As I said before any of this was ever reported this offseason, Ozzie doesn't like Javy Vazquez. He thinks he's a p***y. From what I remember of the situation, the national media made it a much bigger deal than it really was. IIRC, all ozzie did was call him out, something he's not afraid to do to other players. If that's enough to affect Javy's future with the fish, well then he's just a huge ball of vagina. IMO it won't.. money does all the talking.
November 4, 201114 yr Buehrle should be our top priority. People are going to overpay for Wilson and Jackson because the market is thin, and IMO they are question marks. Buehrle proves year in and year out that he is a top of the line starter, and the guy is not as old as you'd think... Nothing scares me about him. If we are going to commit that kind of money to the rotation, and we can't afford mistakes, this is the guy.
November 4, 201114 yr I predict Vazquez signs with the Nationals on a one-year deal. He'll stay in the NL East because of his success there, but he won't sign with the Marlins because of Ozzie Guillen.
