2. I bet if you asked the Marlins' scouts (who I trust a lot more than pencil pushing nerds in an office), they would take Francisco over Dietrich 10 out of 10 times. Clearly not because they didn't make an attempt to sign him when he was DFA's last year
3. The thing with Morrison is that you don't want to get lowballed for him on a year where he's finally %100 healthy going into Spring Training and has been a good player when healthy.
4. How could you say that without seeing Dietrich play even half of a full season Because he got progressively worse every month until he was sent to AAA. His homers is the only stat in which he did well, like so many of you like to point out with Francisco. Well DD at least has a time to develop, he just turned 24 while Fransisco is turning 27. Also Fransisco is a career .234 hitter with only 32 HR's in 5 seasons (771 PA's) so he's clearly not a better option as of now.
5. For Morrison you want at least a decent MLB ready infielder and mid level prospect or a solid MLB player not somehow who either strikes out or hits a homerun and has been released by 3 teams.

7. http://wapc.mlb.com/play/?content_id=31256663&c_id=mlb He's such a bro. More importantly he stated he was finally healthy so possibly big things from him this season.
8. Saw recaps of past few raws and SS. Boy are these shows stale or what. Not one interesting thing besides those tag team matches with the SHIELD and Rhodes bros
9. I believe Furcal will bat 1st If you look at his career....Furcal has led off about 90% of the games he has started. I was thinking this too, not so much for Furcal but for how it should put Yelich in a better spot in the order. I think at this point Yelich should be leading off, give him as many AB's as humanly possible. Furcal hit leadoff most of his career as an elite player, which he no longer is. However he doesn't K much, he's a switch hitter, and an excellent bunter with good speed. All these things point to a productive #2 hitter. You are leaving out the main ingredient--he doesn't get on base much anymore. He put up a .314 OBP in his last two seasons of play. His speed is also a fraction of what it used to be. At this point he's more of a true bottom of the order hitter, not a productive number 2 hitter. He's the best thing we have. Still have LoMo for now. However the lefty lefty thing a top of the order isn't always the best option.
10. That contract is absurd to be honest.
11. Rough draw for the US. They're a huge underdog but that's where they like to be. Excited for the games to begin.
12. The Astros have agreed to a three-year, $30MM contract with right-hander Scott Feldman
13. "#Mets have a 4-yr agreement with Curtis Granderson, the Post has learned" Per Joel Sherman Bad news for the Yankees
14. Mets and Granderson have apparently come to terms
15. Stanton is worth 10/300 now. Still so mad we didn't deal with him like how the Rays did with Longoria's first contract extension.
16. What a terrible contract Cano will be making $20+ Million when he's 40. That should go well
17. The Mariners and Robinson Cano are in agreement on a 10-year, $240MM contract, according to Enrique Rojas of ESPNDeportes.com (Spanish link). Jay Z is good at life
18. What makes any athlete say "hey, you know who I want to negotiate my contract. Jay Z...." Cano potentially lost out on a lot of money from Mariners
19. Played with and against Trae before he went to NC State. He's a great athlete and has a good mind for the game. Liked to pick his spots with steals and could cover so much ground in the middle of the infield. From what i've read it looks like that translated to success in college as well. Love for the Marlins to draft him.
20. So average that lineup is but I'm kind of happy with the low expectations. Only way to go is up.
21. Really think they should pursue Morales next, if not try to get Michael Young or Yuniesky Betencourt to fill in at 3rd.
22. Smart signing. Solid stopgap to give Dietrich more time in the minors. Hopefully he's in good shape after taking a year off to recover from tommy john.
23. If we're so obsessed with replacing LoMo, why is everyone looking at Napoli and not Morales, who will probably come at a much more reasonable price and can deliver around an .800 OPS? He's good for around 2 WAR when you factor the defense, which is good enough. Very good point. Some people seem to like the all or nothing point of view for free agency, but in reality those solid pieces like a Morales could help teams become contenders. Take Oakland for example last season with guys they brought in Seth Smith, Brandon Moss and Jed Lowrie.
24. Strive for five-hundred Waves of the future Fishing for Respect
25. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/12/nl-east-notes-lincoln-coghlan.html Who would we target from the Brewers if we send them LOMO? I would target Rickie Weeks and the cash to pay him. Braun or bust
