  1. Last year in 2010 when the Twins opened their new park, they had a test run with several college teams playing there before the big boys arrived. Does anyone know if they are planning something like this for the new ballpark ? If so could we see possible a Gators vs Hurricanes match up there next year ? I think that would be awesome, draw a large crowd, and its the year that the Gators visit Miami (they play in Gainsville this year - next weekend). Do you think that they may seek to hold a future ACC Tournament there ? Maybe even an NCAA basketball tournament weekend ? Those are in March, before we play. Does anyone think it would be a good idea for a test run on the place ?
  2. The media just love to hate on the Marlins and I just can't figure out why.
  3. Sign him please. I wonder why he sat out last year ? We had this problem and didn't get him then. You think it might be something physical we haven't heard about ?
  4. A bigger question than whether he'll go in the HOF as a Marlin is will he he go in at all? The admitted/suspected steriod users haven't faired too well on the ballots thus far. and he has admitted to using.......I don't think he goes in. I think many here will be surprised but I don't think he gets more than 40% vote next year. I hope I am wrong, but the steroid guys have been really shunned so far.
  5. I'm guessing that today's news doesn't alter anyone's views on this ? I think its more than likely he hits FA now. That increases the odds, but we still have to be a distant longshot. But its more hopeful than it was ! :thumbup

  7. On the website cams, it looks like its already over with, darn it. Oh well it looked great to see the guys there. Its really, really happening, its not a dream folks, we are really gonna have our very own stadium. I am like a giddy little girl, seeing those pics.
  8. Also, avoid Sunday games, they are usually 1pm starts and the heat is just brutal. Though check the weather of course, it could be beautiful in April. Should be beautiful in April. But I have no idea what the difference is between South Africa and South Florida. Beautiful to us is pretty hot to others. South Africa is a very diverse country in regards to its weather. Remember that in April they are in their Fall season, so its getting colder as it gets to June/July/August. I don't know if it snows (except on mountain peaks) there regularly, but from watching rugby for a number of years from there, it does get fairly chilly in many of the cities during our Summer months. I think a lot of games during June/July are about 14-17º Celcius (50-55º F) at kickoff in Bloemfontain, Pretoria & Johannesburg (because they are inland) and 10-14º Celcius (45-50º F) in Capetown and Durban as they are on the coast.
  9. Who gives a sh*t! Just win games! Now I vote for this as our slogan :lol
  10. Not sure if you are coming through Montgomery or any other minor league city as well on your way from Talladega - looks like the Montgomery Biscuits are on the road the whole time anyway Could be an option to check out a minor league game as well if you want to get more of a feel for baseball and how the game is structured over here ...... i personally love minor league ball, the environments are fun, tickets less expensive - just a good time Not sure what minor league cities you'd be around though For the Marlins, I would definitely lead towards either the dodgers or rockies (probably dodgers) and keep an eye on your pitching matchups .... there should be a pretty good idea on who will be throwing when they are waving the flags at the race We are flying from Atlanta to Orlando, but from there we are traveling Florida by road. we are looking at this but with a few extra nights: http://www.harveywor...ay-tours/detail Welcome to the site Leetpro, I too am new. I think the guys have answered most of your questions fairly well. Let me ask are you a Super 14 fan ? Lions, Bulls, Cheetahs or Sharks ? I am a huge fan of Jon Smit & the Sharks, as I believe he is the best hooker in the world. Even when he plays # 3 I still think he is awesome. I hope he isn't retiring anytime soon. Super 14, or this year I think its to be Super 15 starts next month I think with the new team in Melbourne, Australia coming on board. Yes Im a BIG Bulls fan! to be honest I dont like John Smith at all, he is fat and unfit, theres a lot of better players in ZA, he should have retired after the 2007 world cup. (but thats just my view). Fat John Smith Now this is a REAL rugby player: Piere Spies LOL :lol I guess you being a Bulls fan, you wouldn't like Smit. That is understood. I also forgot to include the Stormers in the list earlier. Sorery about that, but you are a Bulls fan anyways. I hope you havea great vacation here in Florida, but do remember this is a big state I am wondering if you are staying in Miami or elsewhere in Florida ? Orlando ? That is a 3½ hour drive from Miami, where the Marlins play. Do you have an international drivers licence ? Make sure to get onebefore coming here.
  11. Guys im new here, From South-Africa Me and my wife are going to Florida from 19 April to 28 April and would love to see a baseball game live (in South-Africa we only have Cricket) I found the scedule for the marlins and saw they are playing the Pirates, Rockies & the Dodgers. Please provide me with some info: 1. Why do they play 3 nights in a row ? 2. What game would be the best to watch (pirates, rockies of dodgers) 3. 1st, 2nd or 3rd day ? 4. Will they play in the new staduim ? thanks in advance Welcome to the site Leetpro, I too am new. I think the guys have answered most of your questions fairly well. Let me ask are you a Super 14 fan ? 12. They should get an F for not replacing Gaby Sanchez. Really ? I thought he was a pretty good player for us last year.

  16. What about games being broadcasted on MLB Network? I think they said they're doing two games a day, any idea what their schedule for ST might be? I don't think they have released it yet, and then I think they only make a decision which ones to carry a few days in advance. Remember most of those games, if not all, are just similicasts of the local broadcast team. If they have a NY team involved it usually is their announcers chosen. Of course if the Marlins are involved, we don't see MLB Network anyways, its blocked out on DirecTV.

  18. If I have extra innings will I get these? I'm never show what I get with blackout restrictions and all that. Extra innings only covers the regular season, but if you have the Sports Pack from DirecTV with all the FSN's then you can see them. Not always, but most of the time. Even ST games sometimes are blackedout, and if it is a replay from earlier in the day, they are ALWAYS blackedout, except for our local guys games.

  20. My best friend lives in Bucoda, which is about a 50 mile drive from Seattle, so this gives me a great reason to go and visit (which I haven't done in 5 years). While its not great for Marlins fans, at least for me it will be fun.
  21. That blue is great, but I agree with the above poster - no to orange.
  22. When will the next All-Star Game be chosen ? We should get that one by rights.
