  1. Thanks for costing us the wildcard Joe.
  2. I havent done any scouting yet, but I like Doug Deeds. Needs to cut down a hair on his strikeouts, but a good player otherwise, at least with the bat. If he doesnt play center then its a moot point and I know nothing of his defense, but it shouldnt be THAT hard to do a little scouting of him and determine where he stands and if he would be worth a risk. Remember uggla was thought by many to be a secondary choice at second after kevin howard last winter also
  3. Spoke With Jacobs Rabbi Today and he is on a spiritual retreat with family and friends. Nothing is wrong right now oops forgot Jacobs is not jewish...Cant fool u guys can I? Hope he is ok as well What a dumb joke. Hopefully everything is ok with the Jacobs family. Jacobs had an 'ok' year, though a disappointment by many who were expecting so much more after his cup of coffee last year. Hopefully he can come on stronger next year whether he is with us or not, we'll see if he is one of those jettisoned in an effort to upgrade our offense.
  4. Joe Girardi this past week has done things that show you he doesnt give a damn about this final week, knowing he is gone come Monday, maybe even Sunday night. You can even almost call it unprofessional. His continued insistence to put Amegaza in there against lefties is just him being a horses' ass and not doing what is best for this team to win. Even Reggie would be a better option against lefties than Alfredo. Some of the decisions Girardi has made and continues to make leave you wondering if a baboon could run this team better.
  5. Tank has been looking real good. With the continued struggles of guys like Herges and Wellmeyer dont be shocked to see him up soon. You can only hold a guy back so long before he forces his way onto the scene. Hopefully the team though doesnt go with Tank 'too soon' Better to err on the side of caution.

Why on earth would you want Mitre past this year when we have tons of pitching prospects with infinately more talent? are you a robot? I thought you left and found a better place to spew your 'knowledge'?
  7. Wow. I must say today has been something that takes your breath away. Hopefully we can find a way to make this franchise work, use creativity to keep the players we have next year with the team for a while and make the best of the situtation. The GM's job is going to be really tough if the goal is to be as competitive as possible. PS. Hope to see ya around sometime soon Das.

Call me a troll all you would like, I really dont care. Bottom line is that just becuase I dont post here often doesnt make me lesser of a Marlin fan. Hell I have been a member here since 2002, long before many of you wandered over here. I love when people call other's fandom into question, look if you dont want to believe this, then thats fine and your decision. But if you want to look at things objectively then go right ahead. I tend to think that those mentioning these things that I have touched upon tend to more on the objective side of things as they are tending to think more with their head and not their heart. Mind you, I'm not against thinking with your heart also, no matter what Mr. Loria has done wonders for this franchise, he brought us the 2003 World Series. A man can only lose money for so long, I hope he can find a market more deserving of this organization, whereever that may be, as its obvious thats not in Florida. PS. To those wishing me well, its great to be back, hope you have all been well.
  9. It's really simple. We are a backwater franchise. Why? We are constantly enduring this same old sad song. Its like a sterotypical love song when you lose that long time lover and are left wallowing in mistery. This is what this franchise and especially the politiocs in South Florida put me through. After winning the 2003 World Series, a new stadium should have been upon us. Hell even the politicos and all essentially promised said stadium. But where is it? Its all a bunch of excuses constantly. And you know what? Said stadium is never arriving. If 2003 didnt get it here, nothing ever will. Let's face facts here people. Now we are faced with the prospect of trading away our stars. People try to spin this off as a way for this team to get younger and better. I dont buy it. You 'might' get away with trading Delgado, but even still you are losing major production in the middle of your lineup. His signing last year was a last ditch desperation heave to try to get that stadium pushed through. He is gone and with him goes the viability of the Florida Marlins in Florida. So we are done as a baseball franchise in Florida. A new owner as some are calling for solves nothing. The good Lord himself couldnt save this franchise in South Florida and now that we have come to understand that, its time to prepare for a future in another town, a town that will appreciate this franchise and give them the full support they deserve. What city? I'll leave that for others to debate. I will say this though, I'd love for this team to find its way to Brooklyn. This franchise would draw 3 million fans easily, will get a new stadium and will thrive. Guaranteed. But that won't ever happen sadly, even though its by far the best solution. And to those saying let's trade Paul Loduca, what do you propose? We have no other real catcher in the organization. Willingham needs to be DH'ing, definitely not catching. Jorgenson cant hit. And who knows what else we have down in the minors, it surely isnt close to ready. No other decent catcher will be had for a cheap price which is what this franchise would want. So there you have it. Flame away.
  10. mid 30s.
  11. mid 30s.
  12. The positives far, far outweigh the negatives. Hopefully Mr. Beinfeist will do the intelligent thing.
  13. Because everyone can admit that the team needs something to help them get to the playoffs, I figured that I'd list what I believe we could use. Feel free to add something, or tell me your opinion. 1. Setup man in the 'pen 2. Any decent relievers, especially cheap ones. 3. Another starting pitcher, to replace Carl Pavano. 4. Maybe a change at 1st base 5. A strong left-handed bat 6. Another bench player, because I figure we could add some depth there. 7. A left fielder, maybe... I'd also like to hear what players are available that we could get. I know a few, but maybe there are some I'm not thinking of. Lets see. A setup man. Yes you need one, mainly due to the injury to Spoonybarger. The middle relief is solid. The only upgrade you really need is from the lefthanded side. I would like to pick up a lefthanded veteran reliever. As far as starters. Pavano is fine. You are not going to have all stars throughout your rotation. Phelps would be an obvious second choice to replace Pavano if he pitches poorly for an extended stretch. Sure you can get a change at first, the only option right now being the rumored Conine-Lee trade. Left handed bats will not be found. Especially strong ones. The bench is decent. I would like some additional flexibility, but its a good bench. Miguel Cabrera is going to be a star. He continues to grow more and more comfortable in left field and will continue to thrive. He is going a very good job offensively, especially out of the 8 hole. What players do you suggest for this team to acquire? Since you are a FutureGM and all? And lets be logical about any potential dealings instead of the usual wild ideas that are thrown out on the table.
  14. the other topic became so littered with so many other rumors that jeff conine deserved a topic of his own. There are two drawbacks to acquring Jeff Conine. 1) Not as good defensively as Lee. 2) A decade older than Lee. The positives far outweigh the negatives. Coming through in the clutch 1 out of 10 times does not make you clutch.
  15. Born: June 27, 1966, Tacoma, WA Full Name: Jeffrey Guy Conine College: UCLA Experience: 13 years Age: 37 Height: 6-1 Weight: 220 lbs. Bats: Right Throws: Right Pos: 1B, 3B, OF Debut: 1990 2003 Salary: $4,250,000 G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS BA OBP SLG OPS 83 331 52 95 23 2 12 63 29 43 4 0 .287 .343 .477 .821 Allright boys and girls, we know all there is to know about Jeff Conine. Mr. Marlin. This team could use a public relations shot in the arm. Jeff Conine does that for you. This team could use a steady veteran on the roster. Jeff Conine does that for you. This team could use a consistent RBI bat. Jeff Conine does that for you. You give up Derrek Lee who with all his wonderous potential has never come through in the clutch when needed most. Discuss your thoughts on bringing Jeff Conine to the Marlins here. Both pros and cons.
  16. well hot damn. I proposed this exact same deal last year. Mark DeRosa for Derrek Lee. I believe I included a couple other players last year, but these were the principles. Of course at that time, I envisioned DeRosa at short, now he would obviously be the replacement for Castillo. Nice to see the Marlins finally get smart.
  17. Matsui has all the talents to succeed. He has done a good job in Japan. He will achieve success though, not by hitting homeruns, but by becoming a contact hitter. Home runs will follow. If you knew anything about baseball and about how to succeed in this game you would know this. The jury is out on Japanese players being successful offensive stars. You have one that has achieved success. Nobody else yet. And Ichiro is special and plays on a level far and above that of other players.
