Guest Moneyball
Looking at the team the tigers could be close to a .500. but there is a downside. knowing all the free agents they are signing for lots of $$$. if the tigers kept doing things over the next couple years maybe the 97 marlins story will repeat in 2007. dombrowski sold off a good team before after signing high priced free agents! dombrowski is a grade A loser GM. thats is why i respect billy beane and the other GMs like beinfest that put a good team on the field with litte money. QuickGold
Tigers can hope for a season with 90 something losses and not break the 100 loss barrier.

Shamrock
and yet even with all his talent...... he cant get out of the first round. Does that really sat anything about how good a team is? I say no.
KJC
it speaks to the fact that being a media darling means NOTHING. Cashman, Beinfest, Joe Garagiola Jr. GM's of WS champions and NONE of them have a book about them or all the attention. the players are the stars not the FO. Shamrock
Beane didnt ask for the attention or the hype...Hes an above average GM and usually his critics beef him up so much its impossible not to call him overrated. Its kind of silly. Do something new and creative -- achieve success with it and be called overrated.
KJC
Shamrizzle i know your a fan of his work but you cant tell me he isnt over hyped. if it is his own doing or the medias he is still over hyped. I like him alot more than his former boss Alderson but if i had a franchise and could choose any GM he wouldnt be one of my first picks. MiamiSpartan
The only thing this guy said that makes any sense is the fact that the Tigers may end up having to dump $$$ in a few seasons. Their attendance has not been good, since Comerica opened. Otherwise the guy is a complete doofus.
