Benitez not as bad as advertised

Featured Replies

I think the guy had a bad rap in NY due to the media overthere. In todays game, there was a graphic that showed Benitez allowing a .187 BA in his career. That ranks 3rd best in baseball behind the Phils Wagner. I think he is going to surprise everyone who was badmouthing the trade. All im going to say is "In Beinfest I trust".

Yeah I think in New York the expectations were set WAY to high and unfortunitly(sp) he couldt meet there expectations but down here he has the ability to relax and so far has been lights out.

Armando has for the most part been unhittable. Period.

His ERA in 5 games is 1.80. He leads the majors with 5 saves.

Enough said.

Urbina was awesome, but come on, let's not forget all those scares he put us through during the postseason!! I agree with some of you: Benitez will have a breaking year, he'll prove everyone wrong.

lol, its definitely not been long enough to decide who was better. Benitez hasnt even pitched outside the pro this season. Looper and Nunez used to be pretty good at home too. On the road was a different story.

Im not a Homer...look at his stats - they speak for themselves...when you allow a BA of .187 for your career you are doing something right

Urbina still the man.The man played outstanding through playoffs even though he had his bad games.

Benitez seem like he is back to his old form.

We got him as a free agent, not because of a trade. He's as good as I had expected. Now he just needs entrance music...

Benitez got a bad rap that was false and unwaranted because the New York media SUCKS.

He's wild on occasion, but he has GREAT stuff. I mean yeah he blows a save sometimes, but so does everybody (except 2003 Eric Gagne, and even he had the All Star game).

This guy is a very good closer, and he's right on track to save 40 this year for the Fish.

He also having lots of fun with the marlins. You could tell the way he starts celebrating after the save. He has already made handshakes with Choi and Penny.

Benitez was not as bad as i expected. He has been dominating and most important, throwing strikes.

he already has 5 saves with us and no blown saves. He was just too much under pressure in Seattle and New york. Im glad he looks comfortable here.

Keep it up 'Mando!

His entrance is awesome already. The little Scarface intro with Big Poppa as his song? That's perfect. And hey, it's working so far.
