Nomar in teal?

Featured Replies

Well there is a rumor out there about the Marlins trying to acquire Nomar, Is this true? could this happen?..........

Lets see the rumors that are out there,

Pavano, Alex Gonzalez, for Nomar

Penny, Alex Gonzalez, and a prospect(Trevor H.) for Nomar and a relief pitcher(Williamson?)

alot of names being toss around, lets take a deep look at this from both sides

Boston: Nomar is free agent at season end and will not be back. Pedro could be gone and with no replacement in place its a must that Boston look for a young pitcher like a Pavano or Penny.

Florida: It does wonder, a star in Nomar in a position that need more production from and with AJ(today help alot) on the way back it. Could be dealing from a strength on the team. Also if Florida could get a Williamson into the deal, it would a top set-up guy.

Now do I know this to be true? all I know is Nomar has called UM baseball coach Jim Morris on more than one occasion about playing baseball in Sfla. Connection Jim was Nomar coach at GaTech.

will see :D

Even though I love my boy Carl and if he had to leave I'd like him to go to one of my two AL teams (Red Sox, White Sox), I have to say that aside from the longer at bats from the short stop position we should do this, and if we get Williamson that would be pimp.

I would rather not.

I would rather yes if its for Pavano and Gonzalez.

Now if its for Penny, Gonzalez and a prospect I dont know. :confused

lets wait until he comes off the DL before even thinking of this.

If it's just Pavz, and Gonzo we'd be getting Noma' hella-cheap.

Of course, he'll be a FA after the season, which is probably the reason for the low asking price.

Yeah Nomar will be a free agent but we will probably not end up signing Pavano back since hes an FA and will probably command a lot if he has a solid year.

If instead of Penny we can make it Pavano (sorry Carl) for Nomah and Williamson, it would be a highway train robery.

I must "hate" on you now.

;)

I'd do either of those deals and here's why:

Nomar gives us a legit 3-hole hitter, letting Miggy move back to #5, where he's more comfortable, and less pressure is put on him while Lowell get's more protection from Cabrera and Choi batting behind him. I'd even extend it to get Williamson for Hutchinson because Williamson gives us a legit closer to do the 8th inning or to give 'Mando a day off.

The thing is, I think it's too good to be true, so it probably is...

Just think they could of already had him back in 1994 when the Marlins drafted Josh Booty ahead of him, even though as a freshman Nomar made 1992 Olympic team and was an all-american every year at Ga Tech. I keep reading Nomar wants $17 mil a season and the Sox only want to pay him $12 mil. Honestly I don't think the Fish could afford either sum or anywhere in the middle, especially if he's just being rented for a season.

Not a chance in a million.

Not one.

For less than one season of a damaged goods Nomar we would give up two affordable starting players and maybe a prospect or two?

What pure unadulterated crapola.

Hey I am a Sox fan too.

Nomar in teal? *Slobbers*

Edcanes, if this does happen, is this the sort of thing like a hired mercenary like Pudge? Who the hell knows? Scott Williamson would be awesome.

I really don't want to give up any of our starters at this point, I dont think I could take a whole year with Oliver in the rotation.

I'd rather go after Orlando Cabrera, if we're gonna go after a SS, because we probably would only have to give up prospects along with Sea Bass.

After realizing this would mean Oliver in the rotation longer, I will have to pass. Though Williamson would be sweet.

Bring the OC! (Season finale tonight at 9 :cool )

No offense guys but this is never gonna happen, you know that. Now i dont have a problem with dreaming but you all sound like its really possible, and even if we do make that trade its not long term cuz we couldnt resign pudge so what makes you think we can afford one of the top SS's in the majors. Im sick of the mid season buys that last a half a season, i.e. "Uge", and even Niner. if Loria thinks he can get him signed long term because of the stadium deal then by all means go for it, but if its some short term "make the fans happy" deal im not for it, at all.

Yeah but that wont be anytime soon from what I hear. The Expos have been given the green light by MLB to try to sign Vidro and Cabrera to contract extensions.

There's a lot of time between now and the trade deadline, I'm sure the expos will know by the deadline whether Cabrera will sign with them.
