Posted June 26, 200420 yr Jeff Conine is NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT to blame for tonight's loss. He made the 3rd out in the 8th inning. Big f***ing deal. We got 2 hits ALL GAME. How the f*** is he to blame for the loss? When he starts hitting and carrying us to wins you will all shut up. How about the other day when he broke a game open with the 3 run homer, forgot already? Some of you are ignorant and you need to either think before posting or stop posting.
June 26, 200420 yr Don't judge us by the users in the game thread. The offense blew ass tonight. Was Choi the only player who reached base twice?
June 26, 200420 yr No one is blaming just Jeff Conine. It was clearly the whole offense that stunk. Conine get's singled out because we had a runner in scoring position and he did what he's done all season. Not come through.
June 26, 200420 yr And if Choi doesn't start tomorrow, I will cry Get the Tissues out in full force tomorrow. McKeon wil not let it happen. NO WAY JOSE
June 26, 200420 yr I dont blame Conine for tonights loss. His preformance tonight is nothing different from what we have been seeing all year long.
June 26, 200420 yr Author I said some, not all. I also have seen Conine being blamed with my own eyes so do not tell me nobody is blaming him.
June 26, 200420 yr I think people are just getting pissed/frustrated with how this team as a whole has underachieved
June 26, 200420 yr To add on to the general stupidity of this forum, some members from it messaged me, mad at me, as if it was my fault the Marlins lost, just because I am a Devil Rays fan.

June 26, 200420 yr If this was last year, everyone would be happy that the Marlins are in 1st...But because they are defending champs, there is so much pressure to win all the time and expectations are skyhigh...I think the players are beating themselves and not playing the way they did last year

Conine get's singled out because we had a runner in scoring position and he did what he's done all season. Not come through. And it's not just that. Conine got several very hittable balls, and was just late. He's lost his bat speed....and is not going to get better. I know there are alot of Conine fans. But at some point everyone will realize the guy is spent. There is a good reason he is hitting .152 close and late. He can't catch up to the fast ball away that most good closers possess.

The Marlins may be struggling, but are still in first place. Did anyone see how crazy everyone in TB went tonight when the team reached .500? I'm not saying fish fans aren't grateful, but this is a reminder to me how far this franchise has come. The team is in first place for the first time ever this late in a season, they're playing well above .500 and despite the offense or the bullpen or the bench- I believe this team has a chance of winning every time it takes the field. How far the Marlins have traveled since the heart and hustle days.
June 26, 200420 yr Amazingly enough, all the NL East teams lost tonight...except for the Mets who were rained out against the Yankees. However, we now have the dubious distinction of worst record of all division leaders in the MLB. So having a 1 game lead really isn't that comforting.

What do you consider hittable? To some players it's a fat fastball. To others it's a hanging breaking ball. To others it's belt-high inside. To others it's outside. Conine does not have the bat speed or opposite field power to do anything with pitches on the outside half. That's where they've been attacking him and that's why he's been struggling. Until that changes or McKeon sends the runners to open up holes like Pudge had the privilege of last year Niner will continue to do nothing with those pitches.

Division leader is only 5 games over .500. :lol Sad. I didn't want to think we were lucky earlier this week or month but after playing so terrible lately, we ARE lucky. I'm not to sure this team is gonna keep winning. It's pathetic how we've made these crappy pitchers look like Cy Young winners.
June 26, 200420 yr dewon was throwing ballons out there...it was crazy, his pitches should have been torn up. and he wasnt throwing anything about 91...conine should have caught up to it. i believe it was that he fooled the batters with crazy speed changes, he would thow 78, then 69 then boom 89, and then 91....cabrera did crap, at least conie got a walk on a 3-2 count.
June 26, 200420 yr NL East: Marlins, 5 games over .500 NL Central: Cardinals, 15 games over .500 NL West: Giants, 10 games over .500 AL West: Rangers, 12 games over .500 AL Central: Twins, 10 games over .500 AL East: Yankees, 20 games over .500 Marlins don't have an easy division though. The Cards have a division that is also close. The West is really sad the way they can't win consistently to stay in it. The AL Central is getting decided early. The AL East has NY and Boston.
June 26, 200420 yr i dont why to single out conine for the loss today he didnt hit in to a double play in the 9th

CapeFish, I agree that the NL East is a tough division. The talent is the evenly-spread among 4 teams and the Expos have some promising stars as well. The problem is that none of them are executing, bullpens are coughing up leads and batters are stranding tons of baserunners. All 5 teams are among the bottom 8 in hitting with runners in scoring position.
June 26, 200420 yr The Marlins offense had been looking better during the Atlanta series. A couple of days ago, they couldn't get anything going after the 4-run first, but other than that, the bats were awakening.... Whatever happened to tipping your cap when a pitcher throws a good game. It may have looked like he was throwing crap to everyone on TV, but sometimes that's what is harder to hit for Major League batters. He was effectively wild yesterday.... And I don't know what Cape means when he says it's sad how teams in the NL West can't consistently win....The Dodgers and Giants are battling for first place....Does it mean a division is sad if it's a tight race...and the Giants are on a 7 game win streak right now....To go along with their 10 game winning streak in early May...watch out for the Giants, they're finally showing what they can really do.
June 26, 200420 yr The NL West teams cannot beat each other consistently. When you have Arizona and Colorado doing so bad and you play them and cannot advance, it's bad.
