July 30, 200422 yr WFAN in Ny is reporting the Mets have acquired Benson and Victor Zambrano, for Wigginton, Matt Peterson & more... Kazmir is involved going to Tampa...and KC is involved in a 3-way deal for Benson. Huge rumor? Let's hope. Edit: NO Longer a rumor, Mets gave up some prospects and such, but they now have Zambrano AND Benson!
July 30, 200422 yr Along with V. Zambrano. The mets now have the best rotation in baseball. What a s***ty day.

July 30, 200422 yr What do you guys think about this news? I just read it on MLB.com... I hope the measures we've taken to bolster our weak spots are stronger than what the mets have done...
July 30, 200422 yr Not as much as if the Braves or Phillies made a move. The Mets have serious issues.

The Mets got arguable the two best available arms while giving up basically nothing.
July 30, 200422 yr the mets are done for the season...i could only see these additions as a threat to us in future seasons. lucky for us, we aren't going to be contenders past this season, so the mets beefing up shouldnt really affect us.
July 30, 200422 yr well at least we don't have to worry about Wiggington anymore. That guy was a Marlins Killer.
July 30, 200422 yr Pirates get Ty Wigginton, Pitching prospect Matt Peterson and 3B Jose Bautista from the Royals. We'll see how the trade pans out.
July 30, 200422 yr not very excited about trading away the future in Kazmir and Justin Huber, Piazza's replacement at C. very excited about finally having that solid 5 man rotation that we have been missing all year. so long to cringing as Scott Erickson, Jae-Wong Seo and the occasional Dan Wheeler take the mound. now lets get out of this funk and start gaining ground.
