August 9, 200422 yr Just looked at the Cubbies schedule the rest of the way out, and man do they have it easy. They have a tough homestand coming up against the Padres and Dodgers, but after that they have 6 games against us, and 36 games against sub-.500 teams. 502882 s*** no playoffs for us

August 9, 200422 yr i believe that we will win the wild card...i think that San Diego is going to fade out and we will continue to beat the Phillies and pass them specially with all the injuries they have. Also San Fran does not have enough to get to the playoffs all they have is Bonds and Schmidt thats it, we will pass them and we play everyone. then we go to the cubs, they have a good team on paper but i think they are overated and they always choke. plus wood and prior are not completely back those guys are going to continue to struggle with injuries and Kerry Wood did not look that good against the Giants. Marlins 5.5 games back but only 5 from the loss column....5 games in 2 months i think we could make that up, specially with us playing 6 games against them and they end the season with 3 games against the Braves while we play the Philles (owned)
August 9, 200422 yr We need to sweep the cubs in 6 games to get back in this. I hope we are in their heads from last year.
August 9, 200422 yr We need at least 90 Wins. That means we need to go 35-17 or better. Doable, hard, but doable.
August 9, 200422 yr we can do this no doubt everyone is saying ohh we have to sweeo the cubbies twice thats not exactaly true. That would be great but from now untill we play them we could be allready back in the race, remember you can still rise up in the standing even when you dont play the leading team. No way will the padres hang around in the race, I also think the dodgers are going to fade out for some odd reason but sounds like just a dodgers thing to do. p. s dont worry about the cubs rember that guy named Bartman i think hes still on our team
August 9, 200422 yr If I know anything about the Braves, they'll remain on this winning streak until the playoffs, then suddenly, as if by magic, forget how to play baseball entirely and get smoked by some mediocre "just-lucky-to-be-here" team that squeaked into the playoffs. It's the classic curse of "Chief Knock-a-homa" that began after they traded Dale Murphy to the Phillies back in the day.
August 9, 200422 yr The Braves arent a team built for the playoffs. They are built just to get there. They dont have enough pitching to dominate a series. They can scrape and win during the season because the stakes are different and the pressure isnt there. But they are really a waste of a team. They will play good enough to get into the playoffs but will squander the chance to do anything. Another reason to hate the Braves. The Cubs do have an easy schedule the rest of the way. I am in Chicago and people here are psyched about Nomar - and Nomar is playing with a huge chip on his shoulder. I think they will get the WC and they will be very tough to catch. I really think our best bet is to win the NL East and just hope the Braves have a rash of injuries. Finally. They have lucked their way along for too long. But at least I get to see the Marlins and Cubs square off on Sept 10th - the first time they will do so since last year's playoffs! We just got to keep winning.
August 9, 200422 yr But at least I get to see the Marlins and Cubs square off on Sept 10th - the first time they will do so since last year's playoffs! 503275 They play eachother a week earlier at the Pro.

August 9, 200422 yr Author Many say that because no owner since Veeck really cared as deeply for the team and it's fans...that is why they haven't won it in so long.
August 10, 200422 yr I think the Fish and yes the REDS have the best chance of catching the cubs. You can never count the champs out and the Reds have proven that they can play great baseball. The Reds still have a run in them and play 8 more against the cubs im september the cubs will collapse!
August 10, 200422 yr My friend is goin to chicago to see the marlins... hes going to get shot... 503871 nah, they are classier than you think Ill be there too
