Yes, but in the interim we play them. They won't do too bad, but for a team like ours...the matchups have improved compared to earlier.

What makes you think they're a worse team? This game? or the 4-2 record since the trade?

we are 6games out of the wild card, i think that we have a better cance at getting the wildcard then winning the division i dont see ATL losing ad we are 7 back. i know that there are 4 or 5 teams in front of us but we are closer to those teams then to ATL. Also the Cubs and Houston still have to play some more games with each other. San Diego, the Giants and LA hav more games to play against each other go LA, and we still have more games against the Phillies and we own them plus we r only 2.5 games behind them. Also we can help ourselvs out because we still play all of them except Houston. 3gms vs Padres,SF,LA and 6 against cubs and 6 or 7 vs phillies. Plus Phillies still have games against ATL

Usually 90 wins is the target for a WC spot, that means the Marlins have to go 36-18 the rest of the way. If we can do this, the teams currently ahead of us would fall by the wayside, just like last season. By the way, the Marlins finished last year 31-20, including a 1-8 span in late August.

Hopefully tonight's game was a sign of things to come, but we need the 5-7 inning AJ Burnett as opposed to the 1-4 inning we saw tonight. Also, someone needs to find Josh Beckett's mojo immediately.

I could have sworn that AJ pitched 7 innings last night... and I could have sworn he struck out 9.

AJ's control was awful in the early innings (1st-4th) and he put the Marlins in a 3-0 hole early on. He redeemed himself with solid 5th-7th. He needs to be more consistent, that's what I'm saying.

It will be hard to catch the Braves we are 7 back, but we are closer to the wild card then most people realize. yes there are 4 teams ahead but they are with in reach, specially that they all play each other and we play them.

WILD CARD

Cubs 61-49

SD 59-50----1.5 * losing to Pitt right now

SF 59-53----3

Phi 57-52----3.5 * currently playing Dodgers

Fla 55-54 ----5.5

Hou 55-55----6

Games left vs good teams

Cubs.....3vs LA, 3vs SD, 1vsSF, 7vsHou, 6vsFla, 3vsAtl

San Diego....3vsCubs, 3vsFla, 3vsAtl, 6vsStl, 7vs LA, 6vsSf

Giants......1vsCubs, 3vsPhil, 3vsFla, 4vsAtl, 6vsSD, 3vs Hou, 6vs La

Phils........2vs LA*, 3vs SF, 7vsFla, 6vs Hous, 1vsChiWhiteSox, 6vs Atl

Marlins....6vsCubs, 7vsPhils, 3vsStl, 3vsLa, 3vs SD, 3vsSF, 6 vsAtl

Houst.... 7vsCubs, 6vsPhils, 6vsStl, 3vsSF

We have a good chance to pass all these teams in the next 2 months.....good thing is that everyone plays each other and we have to take care of our business against those teams...Start to root for LA and STL when they play against those teams. GO Marlins!!!!!!!!

2-0 LA over Phillies going to the top of the 5th.

Choi drives in 2 with a double.

Pitt up 2-0 on San Diego top 4th.

good news for the fish.

Gained a game on three of the teams in front of us

501701[/snapback]

That's the great thing about the Wild Card, even if you aren't gaining on the team in front -- you will gain on others ahead of you and tighten things up.

The Wild Card Race is really exciting even if getting a division title would be nice.

Just looked at the Cubbies schedule the rest of the way out, and man do they have it easy. They have a tough homestand coming up against the Padres and Dodgers, but after that they have 6 games against us, and 36 games against sub-.500 teams.
