January 24, 200521 yr if we sign delgado and encarnacion is not traded what would you like to see? 1-keep encarnacion playing right field and sit conine 2-move conine to right field and sit encarnacion 3-move cabrera to right field and conine to left i really dont like the way miguel plays right field,he has a lot to learn and he is not that fast and conine with his two surgeries in his shoulder will not be able to throw that hard from right field.
January 24, 200521 yr I've seen enough of Miggy in right thank you very much. Spring training will determine who sits and who plays, until then it's anyone's guess. Personally I'd like to see Conine and Aguila platoon out there but you can't ignore how good Encarnacion is defensively in right.
January 24, 200521 yr It all depends on their spring training's, but to be honest, I think Encarnacion has the advantage over Conine. Conine in right just isn't an option anymore. He's too old and won't last longer than a month in RF. He could play left, but that would mean putting Cabs back in right and as we all know it's a huge sacrifice defensively....so unless Conine outproduces Enc by a HUGE margin in spring training, i think we could see Niner riding the pine. That being said, all other factors being equal, I'd much rather have Niner in the lineup.
January 24, 200521 yr Author i heard that the yankees, bosox and other team were inrterested in taking part of wencarnacion salary just to get jason stoke
January 24, 200521 yr I don't see Encarnacion staying if Delgado comes, the money just won't be there and i see him being packaged with Stokes to somewhere that wants a future first basemen like houston.
January 24, 200521 yr i heard that the yankees, bosox and other team were inrterested in taking part of wencarnacion salary just to get jason stoke 664973 too bad they have essentially a big nothing to offer in return.
January 24, 200521 yr lol oh yea.. where'd you hear this 664977 www.rotoworld.com. But I would never trade with the Red Sox, they low ball so badly on trades it's not even funny.
January 24, 200521 yr I've read so much stuff in the last few days but I do believe a I read a published article (as opposed to a post in a thread) that alluded to Stokes being packaged with Encarnacion if Delgado winds up here.
January 24, 200521 yr Put Enc in right and Miguel in left. Encarnacion is a better defensive RF than Conine, he has a great arm. His offense shouldn't trail that of Conine's this year if at all. Conine will get his share of atbats and could possibly come close to being worth his contract. He could fill in for Delgado, Cabrera and Encarnacion.
January 24, 200521 yr i think theres no way that enc stays if we get delgado. Conine is too good to be benched and too loved to and too old to be traded. The only way enc stays is if we find out b4 ST that niner hasnt recovered from his surgeries compltelty which i dont think will be the case. We will see niner in left, cabrera in right. Miguelito will improve at right, hes young and has a good arm. He just needs to improve his range a bit

January 24, 200521 yr Considering he only played right field for three months, I'd say it's premature to judge Miguel as a right fielder. Cal Ripken once said it take about half a season, or three months, to learn a new position. Maybe Miguel was just getting used to it out there right before we switched him out? We'll never know, but he sure showed a little potential.
January 24, 200521 yr Surely knowing that he will never move back to the infield (3B Lowell 1B Delgado) should help Miggy in accepting and learning to play whatever corner outfield slot he's asked to.
January 25, 200521 yr Conine should be the primary backup at 1st, 3rd, Rf, and LF. How's that for utility? He'll get plenty of playing time.
January 25, 200521 yr Let Conine be the first off the bench. Our OF defense at the corners would suffer greatly. Encarnacion RF + Cabrera LF >> Cabrera RF + Conine LF. We already are giving the offense a huge boost by adding Delgado. No reason to sacrifice OF defense for a small increase in offense.
January 25, 200521 yr the problem is that both conine and enc cant be on our team, enc is too expensive to bench, and conine is too loved and still to talented to bench as well
January 25, 200521 yr the problem is that both conine and enc cant be on our team, enc is too expensive to bench, and conine is too loved and still to talented to bench as well 666132 It's one or the other. Pick your poison.

Pick your poison. 666141 The marlins are going to play it smart and lose enc. Like that conine can retire as a marlin, and we get those 5 million of enc off the boosk right now. Enc for as bad as he is probably has more trade value as of now considering hes younger

January 25, 200521 yr Wonder what it is that makes a "thread" like this interesting to me. Probably good arguments without any Member v. Member personal trashing. Find myself agreeing with opposing views. Bottom-Line I think our FO is on top of a dynamic situation. Resolution of the Delgado situation will be critical. If we get him, then Enc has to go financially (probably packaged with Stokes... I would give up the valued Stokes before I would the lesser valued Aguila and Eric Reed.) If we don't get Delgado, so be it. I am among those few who believe Enc is ready for a good year. Beyond that scenario, I would not take a crap-shoot on any player. Save the cash for a mid-season run.
