We still got more national titles.
February 12, 200521 yr oh and one more thing Fishfan25...... you were born in 1990, meaning you had no clue about ND football till you were at earliest 8 years old... since you have been "aware", ND is all of 40-32..... holy crap! powerhouse! :plain

Eight games over .500 and a recruiting class that was beaten by Duke. Methink Notre Dame isn't that good. Let's think about the last skill position player to be drafted in the first round by Notre Dame. It's Jerome Bettis.
February 12, 200521 yr I know one thing.? 1997 Nebraska > 1997 Michigan. :cool 683245 Michigan would have killed Nebraska if they had played 683247 Yeah, sure considering Nebraska destroyed Peyton Manning's #3 Vols, while Michigan barely survived Ryan Leaf's #8 (they were somewhere around there) Washington State Cougars in their respective bowl games. I know one thing I would've loved to have seen that game, though.
February 12, 200521 yr ok you guys are right but yes i gotta live right now in the past and future QUICK NOTE: ND>SMU>IU (back to post) The past we were elite (and even though i did get to see it i feel it,also thanks alot espn classic!) in the past pretty much unbeatable. But cmon look at the heisman's and the 11 championship rings and the most 1st rounders ever produced and we had lou holtz and ARA etc. freakin the most elite and prestigious team ever. The present is kinda ugly now (40-32 since i was born) but i mean i remember my first game i watched the irish in total, when i really felt was going through my vains, that gold and blue, back in 98. It felt so awesome just watching the irish. and we havent had good coaches lately with davie, willingham. The recruits havent been rolling in. and yes we cant win a freakin bowl game. but CW will change. (by the way when my brother told me about the irish i cried and from i was obsessed and commited and i still am today) Future is very bright. The echoes will wake. Charlie Weis, you know that guy with 4 rings, the true mastermind of the patriots. Not bill billichek (sp) watch some old patriot games and look at that offensive play calling. The guy who helps out tom brady. People thought when ty got fired it was over. Not us irish. WE bounced back from recruiting and did better than people thought. Watch ND will go 8-3 this season and then the recruits will slowly year by year keep rolling in. Even though its FEB. we got some all-american blue chips are already popping nd in there minds. thank you all year recruting system. anway u will see. by 2015 we will back in full of the old style ND winning every game. like CW said this team is gonna be "nasty" and if i ever met him on the street or in my dads shop (sells car stuff) id tell him it would be free. no charge. i would bow to him and shake his hand and feel like im in heaven. He will lead us back. all you haters will see. He is a tough guy and thats what the irish need! go irish! in weis we trust! and one final thing: if there is heaven on earth...then its south bend indiana.
February 12, 200521 yr Each of the last however many coaches brought in to ND was supposed to be the savior... and now their 3rd or 4th choice for head coach this year is supposed to be the savior? ha! Cronnell is more the man than Weis is anyway.
February 12, 200521 yr If you screw Miami's first 40 years or so in College football, they become the best team ever. 5 national championships in 18 years, with probation, two Heisman winners, the most first rounders churned out in a period of 20 years in the modern era, the most first rounders in one draft. Next best would be Nebraska or Oklahoma imo. And then USC maybe and whatever else.
February 12, 200521 yr ND > Iowa 683727 If that's the case, Ferentz wouldn't have turned down the Notre Dame job. You can have your history. All I care about is where we are now... and Ferentz has turned the Big Ten from a 2 team conference to a 3 team conference.

Luther Campbell and friends were paying half the team. If you count from the 1980s and on the list is much different: 1. Miami 2. Nebraska 3. FSU 4. Oklahoma 5. USC 6. Penn State ... 117. Michigan

I wouldnt call him the savior. right now though your right. Nd is in a slump. :confused

Michigan 683794 ya and miami should of gotten the same treatment as SMU, but the powers that be decided to never issue that penalty again no matter what because it was 'too harsh' glad to be guinea pigs.

Nd is in a slump. :confused 683835 a slump is somethign temporary. for notre dame you can probably argue that they been mediocore for about 15 years now, save for a year or two here, which would be an aberration of the norm. quite simply, notre dame is a middle of the road program. period.
February 13, 200521 yr ok right now there in the middle. past:top team future:top team. 15 years? didnt they win the sugar bowl in like 92? btw ND leads every team (record) in the state of florida except FSU. 2-4-0...
