I miss Choi as well. For those of you that say he couldn't hit or that he sucks I don't know what you are thinking.

The Dodgers misused him, hell Jack misused him. He wouldn't ever let him face a lefty.

That trade was dumb as hell.

I think the Marlins signed someone(Kevin Delgado maybe?) who is almost as good as Choi. Loosing Choi shouldn't hurt that much.

Yeah, I heard that Delgado guy is pretty good. Hopefully he can fill in for Choi.

Ur F*ing phycho, Choi was horrible, I took about a month to figure out what he couldnt hit, and when they did he never hit another HR again.

You want a .251/15/46 as your 1B, and don't give me that OBP crap...

LOL! Yeah, getting on base is so god-damn overrated! Bring on the clutch-hitting and Ribbies!

a first baseman is supposed to drive in runs.

not necessarily be a table setter.

choi is mediocore at best.

ya blame the manager.

might as well blame dusty too.

there isnt a trend here is there?

The goal of a baseball player is to not make an out. Everything else good comes from that central goal. Like driving in runs for instance.

Aside from that I think Choi will make an above average 1B in this league and he'll do it for peanuts for the next 3 (?) years.

He hit .270/15/40 with us in 281 AB's. The Dodgers screwed him over with 60 random at bats.

That's pretty damn good for a rookie first baseman.

And what is wrong with On Base Percentage? Its a great statistic.

Your 1B should drive in runs, let the middle infielders and leadoff men get OBP.

Sweet, Das agrees with FLasportsfan88 :o

the trade only sucks if mota implodes.

we upgraded at two of our weaker spots and only really gave up a starter.

it sucked to lose penny.

i could of cared less about choi.

getting on base is nice....choi is supposed to drive in runs though. he had atrocious numbers in that department.

I miss Leeen!! Its not the same without him. I miss Choi too, but hey, we got Delgado. Thats good enough for me. I prefer Choi in Dolphin Stadium though. In baseball, you cant get attached because theres bound to be changes.

Statheads rather have a guy that has a greater chance of walking when theres someone on third wiht 2 outs than a guy who can make a hit in that situation. statheads ignore situations, ballparks etc. they just look at raw numbers. Whe m choi was up with a runner on, we knew he'd either walk or strike out. I rather have lo duca batting b/c although his OBP isnt as good as choi's hes a contact hitter, and in a game where a runner is on third with one out, making contact to the right side of the infield to drive i nthe run is better than drawing a walk.

Yeah Id have to agree with Legacy/Das. 1st basemen should be driving in people and hitting in the middle of the order. Personally, I think this OBP thing has gone a little too far IMO. Yes, getting on base is a great thing, but in reality that is a stat you should use to evaluate leadoff men, second basemen, etc. This exagerration of 8 guys with a .380 OBP is too much for me, but hey, im a traditionalist. Id rather have a 1st basemen thatll K 100 times but give me 120 RBIS, and hit for power and average(Delgado) than a 1st basemen that draws walks when he should be agressive.

I still think it was a good trade. We brought in a back end reliever and a catcher for a hurting, soon to be FA pitcher and a VASTLY overrated 1b. Catchers are too hard to come by these days, and seeing a catcher being traded is a rarity.

Its a difference in philiosophy really. Jack McKeon is a traditionalist and I dont think anyone is going to accuse him of lacking knowledge of the game.
