White Sox announcers

I was watching the White Sox- Tigers game on WGN today, the announcers are so bad...these guys are worse cheerleaders than Ron Santo, which I didn't think was possible

What is it with announcers in Chicago (and most of the midwest) being such homers? I don't mind a local announcer to being a little biased, but there's a lin

It's comical how much of homers they are. It can be entertaining at times so I don't really mind em all that much.

it was my first time hearing them, so I was just amazed...I used to think the A's announcers were bad until I heard announcers of all these other teams

They are hired by the White Sox, what do you expect?

Do you really need a bland unbiased announcer to tell you exactly everything that is going on?

Believe me, if you were a White Sox fan or rooting against the team they were playing, you'd love them.

"It's 5-1 good guys!" :D

They gotta keep the fans happy somehow.

So many years without a championship for both teams will really piss of the fans.

Waltzy would have been lynched if he made today's Mientkiewics GS call in Chicago.

there's a difference between being a homer, and being a flat out cheerleader...

also, when you're doing a national broadcast (WGN is carried by most cable providers across the nation), you should try to be as unbiased as possible...

They're the only announcers I've heard refer to the team as "we"...also, a white sox player can get the weakest hit possible and they'll talk about what a great piece of hitting that was, and then someone on the other team will do the same thing and they'll talk about how lucky that was...

Why should they change their act when they're only on WGN? Why do they have to be unbiased if it's a national broadcast?

As for your other comments, that's not true at all.

Hawk routinely gives credit to the Twins, and calls out Sox players if they make a mistake. He'll whine about bad calls (if it is a bad call for sure) but I don't like it if he keeps whining about it later in the game.

Hawk is not a propoganda machine. He's just a really biased southern Sox fan.

I believe you are refering to what Hawk would call, a duck snort. :lol

I gotta admit, the home run call for Bonds' 660th home run was badass.

HEEEEEEE HITS IT HIGHHHHHHHHHHH......... HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HITS IT DEEEEEEEEP........ SIX SIXTY OUTTTTTTTTTA HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's too bad his calls in MVP 2005 are so crappy and nothing like his calls in real life.

Watched them again tonight.

Worst announcers in the league from what I've heard.

758625[/snapback]

The Athletics, Mets, and Red Sox are worse on the TV side.

The guy who does the Yankee games on YES is the worst, anytime he goes "OH WHAT A _______" it's the equivelant of dragging your finger nails across a chalk board.
