Many years an Al Leiter fan... I think it's over for him. The last few starts have been pathetic. Good guy, good bench coach for young pitchers, but no more in the rotation. Cut him loose (if necessary) but cut the losses.

We have some hot-dog pitchers in the Minors. Give them the chance they're busting their butts for. Can't be worse.

I'd like to see Moehler get the starts Al was getting and use Al in the 5th starter's role for the time being.

Good thought.

Sadly, I agree. I hate to say it, but Leiter has been awful this year. I really can't believe he's doing this bad.

He has been a sad display. Give him a little bit longer to see if he can turn it around if not give it one of the Mudcats starting 5 I guess. Can't be much worse I guess.

Today's game, and in turn Al Leiter's performance, is soley and completely on the shoulders of Chin High for invoking the almightey jinx before the first pitch.

It's not Leiter's fault that Barmes got an insider the parker, but that grand slam was pure crap though.

Double and two walks to load the bases. If he's going to continue to walk people at this rate, I don't want him pitching.

He's not throwing strikes, and that's what's killing him. Throwing strikes is why AJ, Willis, and Josh have all been so effective, and it's why he's been so ineffective. It's pretty simple. You either throw strikes and do good, or you don't throw strikes and you do bad.

When Valdez comes back I want Leiter out.

Leiter didn't even look good in his win.

And the Braves are doing really good now, they've won 5 in a row, and 8 out of thier last 10. And as everyone knows, they always get better as the season goes on, so that means they're gonna be really good. So we can't handle having a starting pitcher who pitches like this. We need more quality pitching performances, atleast most of the time.

Starting the bullpen is one option I was thinking about. They've been great. And Josh, AJ, and Willis have all been going deep into their games, so the bullpen doesn't get used much when they pitch. So I'm thinking either we start the bullpen, or we bring someone up from triple a or something and have him pitch just 3-4 innings then hand the game over to the bullpen.

Maybe Kensing...afterall, it would be a minor job. He'd only have to pitch 3-4 innings whenever Leiters spot in the rotation come up and no one else could pitch for him.

Kensing would be even worse than Leiter. If Leiter's struggles continue into mid to late June, I would like to see Olsen or Castillo get brought up and move Leiter to the bullpen.

The only problem with putting Leiter in the pen is that he walks alot of batters. Having a guy in the pen who walks alot of batters is not a good idea.

Too bad he cant take over Rich Waltz's spot

Olsen isn't ready

OLSEN TIME!!!!

Leiter can't be put in the pen, he hasn't pitched that badly in 3 of his six starts (Mets in Shea, Braves at home, Phillies at home), and even against the Braves in Atlanta he pitched well enough to get a win, even with location struggles...

Leiter's struggles have confirmed to me what I already thought before the season. That we should be looking for another quality starter come trade deadline, and that should be our #1 priority not offense or bullpen.

While there's always room for improvement and the club should look at all their options, but if there's one team that could put up with two #5 starters (that's not a compliment), it's this one.

I disagree, Willis is going to come back to earth eventually, we can't expect him to keep pitching like he is, and either Beckett or Burnett is going to get injured at some point in the season, hopefully it won't be serious, but I can't see them both making it through the season uninjured. We're going to need that one more horse for the stretch run and the playoffs.
