When will Hermida be in the show?

Featured Replies

if we are in the race, I doubt Hermida gets more than 5 at bats in September

My guess is mid 2006

that's my feeling as well.

probably the FO would go with a cheap one year deal veteran (1 - 3 millions), and promote Hermida at mid-season when someone stuggles.

Sept callups, but won't see much time

Starter opening day next year

That's what I'm thinking.

then again, you move Lowell, you have Willy and Hermida in the OF next year

I dig that idea. So young and cheap. What's the latest on Cabrera's skills in the OF vs 3B?

he looked fine at 3B

I didn't vote because I think it's too early in the season to tell.

So many things could happen between now and the end of this season that in my mind it's impossible to forsee.

If for example, and we all expect them to be in contention in September, a callup this fall may mean five ABs and a dozen innings of playing time. Someone could be injured tomorrow and he's on a plane Saturday night. A trade could happen mid-season that blocks his advancement, the list is endless.

Maybe I'm just splitting hairs, but I don't see his elevation to the position of a Chris Aguila as what we're really talking about here. The question really is when will he become a bonafide, everyday major leaguer and my guess is mid-2006.

He'll be here in September, and playing next year opening day (although I wouldn't be surprised if he's here sooner if the offense continues to grossly underperform)...

I believe that the Marlins amy give Hermida a chance next season and let Encarnacion and Conine go in order to save money to build up our pitching staff.

That'd probably be the best option. We just have to hope Lowell breaks out of this slump or know one will want him and the $18 million left on his contract at the end of this season.
