June 2, 200521 yr Lowell for Chavez? why not the reason I bring it up it appears Chavez wants out of Oakland badly and The White Sox are offering better good offer for him...hey you could just put Lowell name in that White Sox rumor if you like there package of players "The White Sox are interested in Oakland 3B Eric Chavez and are apparently ready to part with 3B Joe Crede and top pitching prospect Brandon McCarthy to get him, says the Arlington Daily Herald."
June 2, 200521 yr if for some reason the A's wanted to do that then do it i'd imagine billy boy has pipe dreams about willingham, since im sure lowell wouldn't be enough
June 2, 200521 yr Isn't Chavez making 3M more a year than Mikey? 793351 though i'm not sure, I do know he just signed a long term contract, so it's probably likely

June 2, 200521 yr Why bother trading a slumping player for another slumping player? 793367 Someone new to complain about?
June 2, 200521 yr Why bother trading a slumping player for another slumping player? 793367 because one is super talented, younger, and also a gold glover it helps both lowell and chavez, as a change of scenery may be in order
June 2, 200521 yr Why bother trading a slumping player for another slumping player? 793367 Because Chavez is simply a better player than Lowell is -- that being said, Oakland would never do that with the way they're struggling Like someone said earlier -- maybe dealing Lowell to LA (or anyone...) for prospects -- then turning around and dealing prospects (Willingham has Billy Beane written all over him) for Chavez. It would also give us a nice L-R-L-R to the middle of our lineup.
June 2, 200521 yr what ever we think theres not going to be a trade, but i thinkweshould staywith mikey even though alot of stuff i said of mikey isnt on a positive side, i think he'll come to. bac to the power he was before.
June 3, 200521 yr If the White Sox are shopping McCarthy, then I'd rather offer up a package with Lowell in to to them and try to get McCarthy.
June 3, 200521 yr My son named Eric would love this trade, seeing his favorite player for a few years was Eric Owens This isn't the worst trade to think about, it appears that it wouldn't hurt either player as a change of scenery is often helpful.
June 3, 200521 yr No. Chavez makes more money, and while he is a very good player, he can't hit lefties, just can't. Now, Lowell can't hit, but if we're going to deal Lowell, it should be for a premium outfield bat to let Miggy play third. I'll pass.
June 3, 200521 yr I agree Chavez is making more than Lowell, and why would you trade a player who is playing way below average for another guy thats playing way below average. Sure his defense is still there, but so is Lowell, who again, is making less money.

June 3, 200521 yr No. Chavez makes more money, and while he is a very good player, he can't hit lefties, just can't.? Now, Lowell can't hit, but if we're going to deal Lowell, it should be for a premium outfield bat to let Miggy play third.? I'll pass. 793882 Chavez hit .305 vs lefties last year, with a .412 OBP, .893 OPS. He can hit lefties just fine. He's simply a better player than Lowell is -- and while he has struggled, he hasn't been as bad as Lowell (.225, 5 HR, 28 RBI is better than Lowells .200, 2 HR and 20 RBI). If Chavez hadn't gotten hurt last season and got a full seasons work under his belt, he would have been on pace to hit 37 HR and 97 RBI (600AB). As good as Lowell is defensively, Chavez is better. He's younger, and is only $2 mil more expensive. Oakland wouldn't do it so the point is moot.
June 3, 200521 yr if for some reason the A's wanted to do that then do it i'd imagine billy boy has pipe dreams about willingham, since im sure lowell wouldn't be enough 793350 Have you looked at Oaklands catching prospect situation, they have 3 or 4 guys with more potential than Willingham, not gona happen
