Brandman316
I dont want to sound too negative, but lets not forget that Leiter had another poor outing. What are we gonna do with this guy??? Especially when Valdez comes back?? I personally have no idea because I can't see Leiter in the pen at all...

Fish Tank Frenzy
BENCH HIM...Do NOT let him TOUCH a baseball during a game...you cant win games when you load the bases every other inning...the Bull Pen and the Offense bailed him out tonight...but Leiter has got to go...put him on the DL or something, get him off the rotation and staff...NOW

Despite all the unjust negativity towards Valdez last year, he was one of the best #5 starters in baseball.
Guest Juanky
Leiter in road games, Valdez in home games. When we're on the road, Valdez does mop up, and vice versa.
PBMarlin
They are going to skip Leiter's next start. That will give him some time to reflect.

TB, KC, Colorado...lets not get ahead of ourselves with Valdez...but one thing is for sure, he is BETTER than Leiter

AJBurnett34
Trade him to a team in our division and watch us rack on him all night. Might help us get out of our slump for sure.
PBMarlin
Leiter would be terrible coming out of the bullpen!! 806307 I agree 100%. The only time Jack could use Leiter is to eat up some innings when the game is out of control. It's a real problem. If Valdez replaces Al in the rotation, then Al would only get opportunities when we need that 6th starter.
PBMarlin
I still think the Marlins should find another starter somewhere. There's no telling how Valdez will do when he comes back. Al Leiter in the pen is a scary thought too given his walks/inning numbers. I say just don't let him pitch anymore and give him his damn $7 million. 806329 I'm sure Loria is just beside himself over it. That's $7M down the toilet. Ouch. Marlin Nation
I for one have no idea. If I had to guess... long relief.
Dodge
As soon as Valdez comes back, I think Al Leiter would make a fantastic middle reliever or closer.
MarlinFan10
Give him one more start. If it's another awful performance, he goes to the bullpen. He'd probably do okay in middle relief.

Hotcorner
I have no idea what I'd do with Leiter. I sure as hell don't want him in the bullpen because one thing I cannot stomach from a reliever is walks, and Leiter puts guys on base CONSTANTLY. When Valdez comes back, I'd give him a couple starts to see how he does. If he pitches at least DECENT, send Leiter to the pen & use him only in blowouts for long relief. oktoberfest
Trade him to the Nats, and watch their playoff hopes evaporate
TSwift25
Just keep pitching him. He didn't pitch that badly tonight, but he's got to start trusting his defense if he's going to succeed. He and LoDuca might just not be meshing, I'd experiment with Treanor as his catcher next start...
TSwift25
I'm sorry, but 114 pitches in 4 1/3 innings is horrible. There are no excuses for that. Pretty much anyone in the minors right now could pitch like he did tonight. 806404 The home plate umpire also had me and a lot of fans in my section groaning on a lot of botched called third strikes on Leiter. I'm not making excuses, I'm just saying that I feel that he had his moments where the umpire unfairly extending his work load.
Boog Sciambi
heres an interesting stat guys Al Leiter: 12 Games Started 57.1 Innings pitched Average of 4.2 Innings/Game 98.1 pitches per start numbers don't lie.
