Hurricane Dennis Watch

A tropical depression has formed in the Caribbean (this is different than the system that could become a Tropical Storm and hit Louisiana) and is forecast to soon become a tropical storm and ultimately a hurricane. At this point, South Florida is within the cone of error, but a lot can change between now and then. If it did approach this area, it would probably be sometime around Saturday. Of course, this is ALL subject to change, especially once they look more closely at it.

I blame Derrek Lee, this is how he is getting back at us for trading him.

I think this has more to do with the Cubs fans cursing us after the Bartman incident 2 years ago...

I've actually seen a billboard that blames Bush for all the hurricanes last year. I damn near died laughing. Everyone knows that those hurricanes were really the fault of Taco Bell. :plain

All of the models now have this completely missing Florida to the west and going into the Gulf of Mexico. Looks like the same general area around the La./Miss./Ala./Fla. coastline could get Arlene, Cindy, and Dennis before July is half over, amazing.

UKMET is very accurate a model and does want to develop a spike towards Tampa. Still too early for models to forecast landfall accurately.

I know perfectly well about models, I was a meteorology major in college. UKMET has the storm turning north at about 85 degrees west, Tampa is about 82 west. While models cant accurately predict 5 days out, there is quite a bit of convergence among the models. Im not saying forget about this, but there is no need to create a panic as of yet.

If the High doesn't hold off the SE Coast of Florida where it is right now, Dennis will come up through the Keys. If I was worried about my property, I would not leave before the Friday night weather report. Even though RossInfoMan says it will be alright.

Im not saying it definitely won't come this way, but it is looking more and more like it will be west of Florida before it turns. But, that is based on what we know right now. Certainly, things can and often do change, but I think South FLorida will be ok with this one.
