Posted July 7, 200519 yr Wow. How come there were so many people today on a Thursday game that started around 1:00 PM? I was expecting like 14,000 or something lol.
July 7, 200519 yr Fans are trying to pack in as many games as they can before the hurricanes cancel the rest of the season... okay so that won't happen.
July 7, 200519 yr thats a nice crowd. They should get big crowds all weekend long (weather premitting)
July 7, 200519 yr dammnit cant wait for a new stadium. that 33,000 would look like a packed house in a REAL baseball stadium
July 7, 200519 yr It was summer camper day. There were like 30,000 kids there. 845162[/snapback]Â I was going to guess that. Still it's nice to boost the numbers.
July 7, 200519 yr Those kids had a blast. Whenever someone would even catch a routine fly they'd go nuts. Too bad the grand slam was after the rain delay.
July 7, 200519 yr Author Wow that's a LOT of kids if that number is true. The sad part is, that's more than the Marlins average per game.
July 7, 200519 yr There were 14,000 kids from summer camp in attendance, not 30,000. So if those kids from summer camp didn't come, there would have been only ~20k "real" fans, which is still pretty good for a brutal 100+ degree day game during the week. It was funny though, the lower infield sections were damn near empty but the upperdeck way PACKED to the rafters so I guess people watching on TV had no idea.
July 7, 200519 yr Man, I like summer afternoon games. Not only does the blazing heat make for good trash talk, but today we got to sit in section 154 thanks to a buddy of mine and the amount of attractive women was definitely up from the norm.
July 8, 200519 yr HOLY CRAP! when i read the title of this post i thought it was a joke. during the game i checked the stadium web cam to check on the rain delay (i had to follow the game via cbs sportsline from work) and the lower deck was EMPTY so i thought AT BEST 10,000 people. thats incredible. especially since tickets were 1/2 price. man that is great. i dont care if its 30,000 blind people. as long as they can cheer for the right team i want them in my ballpark!
July 8, 200519 yr Holy s*** i was expecting around 15,000 since it is a week, and everyone is at work. Wow thats nice hopefully it will boost our early avg.
July 8, 200519 yr thats halarious. we can barely get 28k for a weekNIGHT game or a weekend game and we get 33k for a weekday game. what irony.
July 8, 200519 yr The stadium didn't look that packed. It looks packer on Saturday games when sometimes we even get less.
July 8, 200519 yr Author I expect, pending the weather, that we will get big crowds for this weekend's games. A lot of them will probably be Cubs fans though.
July 8, 200519 yr There was NO WAY there were 33K+ at the game today. The upper deck was pretty damn packed, but there was NO ONE in the lower bowl at all! I would say it was easily more camp kids than regular fans. I think the number is skewed because each camp bought a whole lot more tickets than kids that actually went on the trip. 20,000 would be my guess actually in attendance.
July 8, 200519 yr i was buying tickets for tomorrows game at marlins in miami and the infield box on the first base side was pretty much sold out for tomorrow, and not much left along the third base line.. then he said that saturdays game was almost completely sold out. maybe true, who knows, maybe just trying to get me to buy more tickets.

If it can stay dry, with Dontrelle pitching tomorrow it'll be a seller's paradise out there.
July 8, 200519 yr We're still averaging over 22K per game. That is a significant increase over last year, and considering ticket prices went up 25-50% the FO is seeing substantially higher ticket revenue.
