July 18, 200519 yr Get Takatsu. 862135 no Was wondering what the Sox were doing with him...hadn't seen him pitch in a while. Guess no more "Frrriiiissbbbeeeeee.....yyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssss"
July 18, 200519 yr Takatsu had a big year last year- 62 IP, 40 H and 2.31 ERA. He would do better in the NL and is an upgrade over Bump/Riedling. He has only allowed 30 hits in 28 IP this year with 32 Ks. 27 out of 29 saves converted saves lifetime- I would give him a shot.
July 19, 200519 yr Thank God he's gone....his cute little games on the mound don't work once he gets a go around the league.

July 19, 200519 yr CHICAGO -- Prior to tonight's game, the Chicago White Sox reinstated right-handed pitcher Orlando Hernandez from the 15-day disabled list and designated right-handed pitcher Shingo Takatsu for assignment. Hernandez, 35, was placed on the disabled list on June 20 (retro to June 15) with right shoulder inflammation. The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder is 7-2 with a 4.88 ERA (34 ER/62.2 IP) in 11 starts with the White Sox this season. Hernandez made one rehabilitation start with Class AAA Charlotte on July 10 at Louisville (L, 1 ER/4.0 IP). Hernandez, who was also on the disabled list from May 17-June 3 with right shoulder inflammation, will be making his first start tonight since June 14 vs. Arizona. Takatsu, 36, is 1-2 with a 5.97 ERA (19 ER/28.2 IP) and eight saves in 31 relief appearances with the Sox in 2005. The 6-foot-0, 180-pound reliever became the first Japanese-born player to appear with Chicago last season. The White Sox also announced that first baseman Ross Gload was returned from his rehabilitation assignment at Charlotte. Gload was then reinstated from the 15-day disabled list and optioned to the Knights. Gload, 29, is 2-13 (.154) in seven games with the Sox in 2005. The 6-foot-0, 200-pounder was placed on the disabled list with left shoulder inflammation on April 30. I say give it a shot -- for a couple of reasons. He gives us another guy who could realistically close(8/9 save ops). His ERA and WHIP are pretty high, but he's struck out 32 in 28 IP (which proves he still has his stuff) -- and I think pitching against teams that have seen very little of him will work to his benefit -- he relies alot on deception and guys that havent seen him may have a tough time adapting to his unusual pitches. Why not? Can he be any worse than Resop, De Los Santos, Messenger or Riedling?
July 19, 200519 yr I wouldn't mind giving Mr. Zero a shot down here, it wouldn't a be a downgrade to our options now.
July 19, 200519 yr NO.....why do we have these threads after everyone gets released???? Vince Coleman is available....
July 19, 200519 yr NO.....why do we have these threads after everyone gets released???? Vince Coleman is available.... 864423 Care to look at the numbers? Takatsu's biggest problem has been giving up the long ball -- common sense would tell you that switching from a launching pad to a pitcher-friendly DS would do wonders for Takatsu. I'm not saying he's the savior -- but how can he be any worse than what we have right now?
July 19, 200519 yr We have to many one-inning arms as it is. 864486 AND that has happened because McKeon has misused the bullpen since he got here. We have what...three guys coming off the disabled list soon...Beckett, Alfonseca and Valdez. Where do we put all these pitchers? Let's wait and see how the guys do when they come back.
