New Three Way Deal?

Featured Replies

That's a pretty good deal IF we were completely getting rid of Lowell's contract. With all that pitching, I wonder if we'd have a second deal in place to get a big bat. :mischief2

who do you think we could get for mays?

I dont think it will happen. Mays really wouldnt be much of a help to us either I fear. But, at the same time there needs to be a third team to ease in Mike Lowell's contract.

What about the possibility

Twins

Lowell (cash)

Prospects (Reed perhaps others)

Perisho

BoSox

AJ

Romero

Fish

Arroyo

Hanely

The red sox would get what they desire. We get a SS for next year and a pitcher also. The twins get theird 3B and a young player for next year that they need. Most likely the Sox wouldnt trade Hanely, but could perhaps be a consideration?

i doubt they are gonna be dying to have a center fielder they already have a guy be the name of Torii Hunter

Better than O's deal but no thanks.

i think this is gonna be about as good as it gets

You're getting a solid young starter for the future in Arroyo, a rental 4th/5th starter and a short reliever.

We have plenty of the latter two and Arroyo is not the best player mentioned in trade talks.

A good 3 way deal would be:

Red Sox get:

AJ Burnett

Jason Stokes

Taylor Tankersly

Reds get:

2 Red Sox pitching prospects

Josh Johnson(FLA)

FLA gets:

Willy Mo Pena

Wade Miller

Bronson Arroyo

This would include(and I dont want to do this) Lowell in a seperate deal, would set up our team in 2007 as:

CF Juan Pierre

2B Luis Castillo

3B Miguel Cabrera

1B Carlos Delgado

RF Willy Mo Pena

C Paul Lo DUca

LF Jeremy Hermida

SS Alex Gonzalez

and our rotation as:

Dontrelle Willis

Josh Beckett

Bronson Arroyo

Scott Olsen

Wade Miller

And all in all, a very cheap team: Olsen, Miggy, Willy Mo, Hermida will all be in the $300-500 K range, Arroyo and Miller will be around $1.5-2 million each, Beckett and D-Train between $2.5-4 million. Its reasonable and a very good team.

that couldn't happen because the reds need major league ready parts. AND they are cold on selling willy mo, they are afraid he will go somewhere else and explode

why the f**k would you want Griffey? to make an excuse to why we are struggling by adding another guy to our disabled list?

Mays/Vargas/Johnson/Stokes for Griffey and the Reds paying half of his remaining deal?

you think the marlins should give up two major league ready starting pitchers and the face of our minor league system in Jason Stokes(although i don't like him much), and a veteran starter for KEN GRIFFEY aka Mr. Disabled List. and even if he wasn't injured which is about 5 games a season he still sucks. And ya while we're at it why don't we add in hermida, olsen, andino, willingham, reed, aguila and Willis and Cabrera.. ya that'd really make it a good deal. that would be fair. :thumbdown

Well, if the prospects we send them is Vargas instead, and the Red Sox give them at least one MLB ready pitcher, it works out good, all they are giving up is Pena.

If the marlins dangled Vargas, a solid MLB ready pitcher and another prospect like Johnson they might bite. I dont know though really, it is all hearsay and guessing really. This is Curious, the beinfest riddle :)

868882[/snapback]

NO i wouldn't trade Vargas straight up for Zito. Maybe johnson straight up and that is a MAYBE . zito did have a great start the other night. i would prefer rich harden but that ain't happenin

Well the A's definetly wouldnt do Vargas for Zito so you dont have to worry

I don't understand why people on this board think that Zito is available. The A's are back in the thick of race now, and their team is looking great. Beane has said all along that Zito is not available. Zito has seemed to regain his form from a few years ago. His ERA is down to ~3.5, his SO are up, and his velocity is up. Plus, the As control him for a very reasonable 7.5 mill next year. Besides if Zito were to be traded he would net a better deal than Burnett.

the reds would be getting a good deal ... take out one of the pitchers and as far feetched as it seems, money wise mainly, but Griffey in teal would make me the happiest kid in town

and Stokes probably wont be steping in a MLB field anytime soon, and if it was to happen it?ll probably be with another team once he is out options

NO i wouldn't trade Vargas straight up for Zito. Maybe johnson straight up and that is a MAYBE . zito did have a great start the other night. i would prefer rich harden but that ain't happenin

what kind of deals do you expect ... all these prospects and young kids we have are not proven and as good as stuff as they have (or could ever have) they are only hyped up because it is the team we follow

calm down

Zito is a 20game winner and that didnt happen because of his good looks

and I dont even wanna start with Griffey kiddo

... these are all rumors and nothing else, now the actual proposed deal seems to be a little unfair on the minny side, or maybe they simply have decided to demolish their bullpen for the fun of it.

there has to be more players involved that way or they just simply wanna get rid of Mays, im kinda confused

thanks and no thanks ... im not sure about this deal although it seems pretty good

It's my first post here so please take it easy on me .

I don't think the Redsox are going to bite on Burnett unless Lowell is taken off the table.Lowells numbers this year are similiar to what Kevin Millars are.Not to mention at the 18 million owed to Lowell. In fact i think the Marlins are grasping at straws here trying to include a under performing 3rd basemen with a 3-4 starter at this point.I do believe that Burnett can be great if given time with Varitek and become a legitimate cy young contender.

As for the Redsox side Arroyo isn't a great pitcher similiar to Burnett in many ways without the k's and with a habit of hanging his breaking pitches.

The only way i would make this trade from a Redsox side is if Lowell is taken out and i would give up Arroyo,Moss and Embree maybe throw in another middle end prospect if i can sign Burnett to a extension.

Welcome to the boards I know my first post wasn't popular so I be easy on ya.

My posts is in regards to what I bolded. If you see that and truly beleive it what makes you think that the Sox won't see and realize that he is more valuable later to them now then later which ultimatly raises his value now.

I don't know what the Sox FO thinks about Burnett longterm.I think that the Sox not demanding the 72 hour window to sign him long term says 1 of 2 things either they don't want to sign him longterm or they believe they can sign him before the season ends.If i was Theo i would want Burnett longterm for the reasons i stated above.

As for trade value, sure the value rises in my opinion but the Sox are not going to give up the top 5 prospects which are Papelbon,Lester,Pedroia,H.Ramirez or A.Sanchez,Everyone else is pretty much tradeable.

All Embree needs is a change of scenery and would probbaly work out as well as Chad Fox did.As for Moss he is the one of the Redsox top 10 prospects and is killing the ball recently after his slow start.

Saying somebody is a top ten prospect within an organization is really not great praise when you think about it. In any event we both know he is not one of the RS prized youngsters.
