Oakland players had already started collecting money to help their coach, putting together about $9,000 to start. Giambi more than doubled that himself, adding $20,000 to the fund. "Nothing surprises me about Jason; he's a very generous individual," Torre said. "He cares for people a great deal." Washington was Giambi's coach when he played for the A's, throwing batting practice to the former AL MVP on a regular basis. Giambi and Washington spoke briefly this weekend while the Yankees were in Oakland, and the conversation turned emotional. Washington, who has 16 relatives that fled New Orleans for Alabama after the storm, was very moved by Giambi's gesture. But, 1 he never admitted to anything. He Apologized but never said what for. 2. He still cheated and in my eyes all of them that cheated (even if miggy was caught tomorrow), should be gone. I feel the same way with Boston for the dolphins also. I think he has handled the situation better then the others have by far. He has earned more respect in my eyes. But what he did still was disrespectful to the game. Was a violation of all the game stands for. In my eyes his MVP trophy should be stripped from him as well from that year and given to the runner up. But, I willadmit that he has handled the poor situation, he made for himself, better then Big Mac, Sosa, Palmero, Bonds, etc.

They are a new technology that fly through space at speeds just below the speed of light, they send out these golden orbs that collect chemicals from the vast reaches of our solar system - the moon Titan, Venus, Neptune, then return them back to earth. The chemicals are generally used to heal people suffering fatal diseases, but I guess Giambi has put it to use to pop off 30 home runs and make the Yankees opposition cry like little girls.
September 6, 200521 yr Granted, I'm both a Yankee fan AND a Giambi fan [even from when he was in Oakland] so my bias is sure to shine through but: My position on the steroids issue has always been the same. By not acting, baseball was silently encouraging their use. They were more than happy to profit from the home run derbies set off by Big Mac and Sosa at a time when baseball was hurting for attendance and reeling from a strike. Did big time players in big time markets juice up? Obviously. Did anyone walk up to Barry Bonds and tell him to back off the juice because his cranium had expanded 4 hat sizes in two years? Not a one. Chad Curtis, a utility outfielder at best, said several years ago that steroids were a problem in baseball and made it hard to compete on a level playing field unless you ruined your body as well. He has since been chased out of the game by more ?talented? players. However, he was right. MLB in general and Bud Selig in specific turned their collective eyes when this story was printed in SI. With all of that said, I choose not to judge Giambi or Palmeiro or Bonds based on their past use. I judge them on their decisions to continue/discontinue the use of the products once they became highlighted. Giambi gets tested 6 times a month and has yet to post a positive result. That tells me that he is on the up and up and has at least discontinued his use of the roids [iF he ever used them at all] in order to maintain his image and the integrity of the game. Roids issue aside, he is a fun player to watch when his bat is hot. He has a great attitude and really has appreciation for the fans. And finally, as several posts have pointed out, he is a good humanitarian. September 14, 200521 yr Author If that statement was not leaked out, he would have gone about his business, play his heart out and no body would have known... and he continues to test clean so go figure... but to say he should be banned from baseball where these nobodys are getting 10 day suspensions, he would get a 10 day suspension, that's if he ever did test positive which he hasn't.
