Posted September 27, 200519 yr McKeon led the Marlins to the 2003 World Series championship, and they were touted before this season as a likely playoff team. The Marlins led the NL wild-card race by 1? games Sept. 14, then lost nine of their next 11 games to fall out of contention. In the wake of Burnett?s gripes, several players complained privately about McKeon?s leadership, but none wanted to be quoted. Others took a more neutral position regarding the pitcher?s criticism.
September 27, 200519 yr and some (Willis and Beckett) took a positive position....Post the whole article or dont post
September 27, 200519 yr its one thing to disagree with authority.people disagree with their parents, teachers, bosses, the president. but to publicly criticize your team, teamates, and coaches is completly classless. who cares if people odn't like his style, man up and freaking deal with it, privately. aj is just a little bitch
September 27, 200519 yr AJ badmouthing the team/management and taking a turd in his last 7 starts = Less money in FA. I don't think he gets it.
September 27, 200519 yr I'm glad he said what he said. Hopefully it'll get some wheels turning in the front office and some changes can be made to bring new life into this team for next season.
September 27, 200519 yr AJ didn't criticize his teammates. Sure he did. Played scared is a sign that his teammates are weak!
September 27, 200519 yr AJ didn't criticize his teammates. well he said nothing positive... so thats disrespecting willis isn't it? unless he meant it in the whole context of the team. i realize this season goes down as a failure without making the playoffs but, he said like there was no positive energy...well thats not all necessarily the coaches faults.......essentially he's saying the team wasn't there to pick anyone up off the ground, or him, when he couldn't hold a f***ing 4 run lead.
September 27, 200519 yr you know...lets face it.... AJ MIGHT be right... but thats not the point...being a team player doesn't include airing out your problems with the media...be a MAN and solve problems within the team and nowhere else... and of course... dont EVER think that all problems can be blamed on everyone but yourself...Mr. 100mph needs to accept responsiblity...him crapping out his last several starts is nobody's fault but his own

And of course he meant it in the context of the team, why would he pick out individual players?
September 27, 200519 yr That's fine if they agree with him on that stance. Obviously, we can't say much because we don't know what goes on behind the scenes in the clubhouse. I am glad they didn't go about spilling the beans and criticizing the fans at the same time like AJ did.
September 27, 200519 yr I am sure that 1) McKeon did a poor job of managing the clubhouse and 2) there are some sensitive biatches on this team. A few manned up and took responsibility - Dontrelle and Josh. Others, like AJ, didn't.
September 27, 200519 yr McKeon's leadership was good enough in 2003, when AJ wasn't around. I don't know what changed. I've felt since mid-season that maybe McKeon wasn't the right manager for the team, but even then, I felt that reflected worse on the players than on McKeon. It's going to be a sorry day in Marlins history when McKeon walks into the sunset at the end of this season, and we hire some kindergarten teacher to pat some of our boys on the back.
September 27, 200519 yr AJ didn't criticize his teammates. get off aj's d1ck,not only he critized the marlins but also he critized the fans,he should have at least thnx the marlins for giving him the ring he has right now cuz as he said he didnt earn it

They would have to come to him BUT only if invited. Get it?? Jack was and is completely out of touch with his payers....period! McKeon is NOT a mentor! He is all for himself!

So not talking to them in the clubhouse means what. I would say that it is a sign of professional courtesy. As long as they show up ready to play, is all that mattered. What goes on in the clubhouse, stays in the clubhouse. He was not paid to be a mentor, only the manager.

Hey, just because they make millions of dollars for playing a game doesn't mean they can be screamed at all the time and expected to perform at their peak level. Jack probably talked in the clubhouse. Maybe a cold shoulder to those he was upset with. Best thing for this team is probably a manager like Davey Johnson that is completly hands off. No positive or negative encouragement given but playing time.

Listen, if AJ had performed down the stretch, Lowell hadn't starting sucking a**, and JP had hit around .300 we'd be in first place. Jack didn't do that. He just made losing harder to take, which maybe made it harder to turn the season around for some. McKeon is to blame and the players are to blame. Dontrelle, Josh, Miggy, Carlos, Niner (when he played), Ency, Louie, Duca... they all performed. Are you saying they performed despite Jack? Please! They're professionals, plain and simple. They would have done well regardless of who managed them. Believe it.
September 27, 200519 yr i wouldnt say everyone agree's Infielder Lenny Harris didn't seem shocked by the move. "You just don't burn down the ship like that," Harris said. "I guess it was best for the organization. He buried everybody. As a person we just had to go to him and say good luck. ... I just told him good luck and hopefully things work out well for him and his family."

Apparently, a few of his teammates were hurt or became angered by his comments.
