...you are looking forward to the team beating the snot out of in a game? I was just reading all of the articles on ESPN insider, and I got to thinking that the first time AJ pitches against the Marlins is probably going to be must see TV and a big national news/ESPN story.

That further got me thinking that he will be the only Marlin (that I can think of) that left on bad terms.

Isn't our interleague schedule next year AL East favored? With him most likely signing with an AL east powerhouse or an NL team - we will almost certainly face him. I for one, already can't wait.

Dan Miceli did but no one really cared about that.

he screwed imself over, i hope he gets shalacked

Funny thing is that the Marlins would definitely hand him his backside...they know his weaknesses and how to beat him...its almost too easy

How about Cliff "I tried and failed to extort the new owners out of $45 million so I'm going to bad-mouth them from now on" Floyd?

I would say his comments on his way out the door and in subsequent years (boy was he jealous that the Fish went on to and won the World Series without him) really set a benchmark it may be difficult for even AJ to match, although no doubt he'll try.

Floyd left on bad terms, Sheffield left on bad terms (demanding a trade, then demanding to be paid extra money to waive his no-trade clause), Pudge left on bad terms, and Pavano's departure left a bad taste in my mouth.

Plus, it's doubtful we see AJ next year, he's going to the AL and the AL's money.

Carl Pavano... but we never play the Yankees. Hopefully next season when we play the Yankees in interleague, we'll face both Pavs and AJ and whipe the floor with both of them.

Im guessing Ramon Castro left on a bad note.

Ok, I forgot about Floyd, but Sheffield and Pudge are nowhere near the level of AJ. They didn't badmouth management, the fans, the team, and probably everyone in the clubhouse down to the parking lot attendant. Sure, it might not have been amicable, but AJ has burnt EVERY bridge to the Florida Marlins.

I mean, he hasn't even left yet and he's already taken shots at everyone and everything.

I think this is even worse than Floyd and Sheffield and Pudge's situations aren't even in the same ballpark.

If he is with the Yanks or the Red Sux, we have a great chance of seeing him next year - oooooh - how fun!!!!

I'd badmouth the fans if I were him too. If I saw 15k in the stands when I'm in a pennant race, I'd throw up.

The Pirates aren't doing too good either? aren't they? A team with more than 100 years in existance with a beautiful new downtown stadium, and they aren't even middle of the pack in attendance.

Preston and CJ werent exactly happy when we shipped them to Denver

It's in the same ballpark as Floyd, he burned his bridges while he was still here, and he even led an effective mutiny (remember the bitch fest that Lee put on after Floyd was traded?). You could argue Sheffield too, but I don't really want to get into that.

I'm sorry. That was poor sentence structure on my part. What I meant to say is that Floyd's situation was bad, but I feel this is worse and that Sheffield and Pudge's situations weren't even in the same ballpark.

I used poor wording there.

And they are probably still doing better than the Marlins.

We are a city of 350,000 or so compared to Miami of how many people? Plus, we have had 14 losing seasons in a row now compared to 2 World Championships in that time for the Marlins.

27 Pittsburgh 1,756,054 23,105

28 Florida 1,746,067 22,974

Thats a shame. If the Pirates were contending, we'd be at least the middle of the pack.

Pavs didn't leave on bad terms. The man pitched his ass off in 2004 and was our ace all year. He got a team to overpay for him and he took it. Good for him.

I'd badmouth the fans if I were him too. If I saw 15k in the stands when I'm in a pennant race, I'd throw up.

you missed my point.

I just think it is ridiculous when fans from other teams are so eager to point out our attendance at every chance. He took a shot at my team, I took a shot at his team.

So this stuff happens only in South Florida? look at this for reference.

in 1979 The Pirates ranked 10th out 12th in attendance and averaged 17K per game. That year they won the World Series. And we are talking about a team with 100 years and 4 World Series title, and the 5 previous seasons were winning seasons with a couple of division tittles.

That is a damn shame as we drew 1.4mil in '79. Attendance was down league wide basically from current figures. Im not making excuses for the Pirate fans as they are very fickle. Now that Pittsburgh is a Steeler town, you won't get huge numbers.
